2. Taste Talks Brooklyn
Taste Talks is a national series of festivals celebrating the future of taste through symposia, awards, tastings, dinners and parties. We are thrilled to be returning to Brooklyn September 8-10 to bring together amazing chefs, restaurants and cultural figures together with everyday food enthusiasts to engage in great conversation, awesome food and one-of-a-kind experiences over 3 days.
3. TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint
TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint is a celebration of North Brooklyn's local flavor, benefitting the Firehouse North Brooklyn Community Center. Now in its 9th year, the block party style tasting event returns to the scenic Williamsburg waterfront to bring the neighborhood’s top restaurants, bars and independent merchants together with over 3,000 hungry participants to eat and drink for a great cause.
There are several new additions and updates to this event this year, which will feature over 40 of the neighborhood's best and most beloved restaurants, bars, breweries and wineries. This year’s lineup includes newcomers such as The Springs, Clinton Hall, and BK Label, with a special VIP area featuring Tacocina, as well as TASTE veterans like Pies ‘n’ Thighs, Barano and Maison Premiere. (Full restaurant line-up here.)
This year, the event will be an all-you-can-eat format, doing away with the printed “taste” booklets of years past, in an effort to generate as little waste as possible.
Also new to the festival this year will be an informational transportation forum in a dedicated tent titled "No L? No Problem: Getting Around During the L Train.” Ride sharing companies such as Lyft, Chariot, Maven, Car-to-Go and Ravel will be on hand to discuss alternative ways to travel once the L train shuts down in April 2019, which is a major issue currently concerning the Northside neighborhood.
Tickets (available here) start at $55. All of the proceeds from the event will once again go to benefit the Firehouse North Brooklyn Community Center, located in the former Engine 212 Firehouse at 134 Wythe Avenue, which is working to re-open as a crucial hub for the local community.
We are excited to return to Governors Island on September 22, 2018 to celebrate the 14th Annual Vendy Awards, a fundraiser for the Street Vendor Project.
25 of NYC's best street and market vendors, nominated by the public, go head to head and compete across 5 different categories - best dessert, best rookie, best market, a rotating category that has yet to be announced along with the ultimate prize - The Vendy Cup! Tickets include unlimited food and drink, so what are you waiting for? Get a ticket now before prices go up on September 10.
Gather your family and friends and take advantage of the Platinum/Gold/Silver packages - get the VIP treatment along with some bonuses.

5. Sundara Gala 2018
Sundara envisions a world where no child will grow up without access to basic hygiene materials and education. We do this through soap recycling - taking old bar soap from four and five star hotels that is usually tossed in the trash - and repurposing this waste into new, hygienic bar of soaps. We employ unemployed women to do this work, some of them widows, single mothers or survivors of domestic violence, who are then paid a fair, living wage including benefits like health insurance. These women are trained as Sundara community hygiene ambassadors and distribute the soap, along with lessons on hand and body hygiene (so the good habits will stick) to schools, hospitals, orphanages and community centers in urban slums and rural villages nearby. Every month we reach over 50,000 children with soap deliveries and hygiene trainings.
