Harper's BAZAAR ICONS 2018
On Friday, September 7th, Harper’s Bazaar hosted its annual ICONS Party as part of New York Fashion Week. Often considered the Met Gala of the fall season, the party is the echelon of all NYFW parties. Not the case every year, but for New York A listers, there were two places to be last night: out celebrating Ralph Lauren’s 50th anniversary, or partying with Roitfeld. Most stars probably tried to be seen at both events.
The affair, which celebrates the ICONS September issue of the magazine, was centered around the theme of family -- more specifically, “The First Families of Music.” The September issue presented some of music’s biggest names posing alongside with their loved ones, with full spread featuring the families of Bruce Springsteen, Kanye West, Christina Aguilera, Lionel and Nicole Richie, Mariah Carey, Paris Jackson, Steven Tyler, Erykah Badu, and Keith Richards.
The night did not disappoint — there was lots of style, lots beautiful people and lots of drama. The night began when flocks of Beautiful models and stars showed up at the famed Plaza Hotel in their best gala attire. Christina Aguilera, who was the special performer at the event, made sure all eyes were on her as she walked the red carpet in a white gown billowing with feathers. After posing for the cameras, the celebs made their way upstairs to Plaza's Grand Ballroom. However, the major story of the night happened outside the main ballroom in the landing area where the scuffle took place between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj.
Reportedly, the "Bodak Yellow" artist approached Minaj's "address" some issues, and a member of the Nicki’s bodyguards elbowed Cardi B's face, causing a noticeable swelling on her forehead. Cardi B retaliated by launching a red platform shoe at Nicki, which missed. Cardi B was seen leaving the Icons party after the altercation.
Inside the party, most of the fashion personalities and Hollywood superstars did not even know about the clash, or maybe they did not care. Everyone was either too busy or too excited to catch up with their equally-as-famous friends. The main act of the evening happened when Christina Aguilera took the stage and brought everyone back to the 2000s with some of her classics. In attendance were the Hadid sisters, Caitlyn Jenner, Tiffany Haddish and every major model imaginable, from Adriana Lima to Christie Brinkley, just to name a few.
Just another year of past, present and future ICONS gathering to celebrate an unforgettable night.
Kevin Johnn Resort 2019 Presentation
On a chilly Tuesday evening, crowds gathered on the rooftop of The Dominick Hotel to celebrate to a fashion spectacle: Kevin Johnn Resort 2019 Collection presentation. The collection, which was appropriately titled, “Urban Resort,” merged the worlds of soft touches of resort collections with the dark color palette inspired by New York City.
From pastel colors such as shades of baby blue, to sheer fabrics, some of which included chiffon and silk, the collection certainly pleased the crowd with its summer feel. Yet, since the designer is based in New York, there wouldn’t be a collection without including dark-colored fabrics and more structured fits.
The Kevin Johnn Resort 2019 collection offered a few black gowns with intricate cut-outs, striped and solid black flared trousers, a mesh top with chains layered atop for an embellished look, and dark floral motifs that would pop-up within the collection.
The collection intrigued and inspired. The views of Manhattan from the roof of the hotel set an appealing backdrop for the show. The summer skies allowed the audience to imagine their ideal vacation and the wardrobe to match it. The presentation ended with cheers from the satisfied crowd, certainly setting the mood for the rest of the perfect summer evening.

Shhhowercap Season II
In a time where people are constantly busy and the Dry Shampoo business is thriving, one of the most essential items a girl can own is a shower cap. Unfortunately, most shower caps you see have cheap material and are physically unappealing. It is true that some people may not mind wearing a simple $2 cap for the fifteen minutes that they are in the shower, but for those who prefer to feel and look luxurious during their self-care time, look no further. Shhhowercap has exactly what you need.
On Thursday November 2nd, Shhhowercap released their second season line of caps. The room was filled with people who came out to see the show; some already knew about the brand and some were hearing about Shhhowercap for the first time. I was among those who had just heard of this company. The entire crowd was blown away when the models began to strut around the Skylight Modern in these gorgeous headpieces. When I heard about a fashion show for shower caps, I was a tad skeptical and definitely was not expecting something so chic. On their website, they refer to it as a “waterproof turban” which sounds about right. I would consider wearing these out in public, let alone my shower.
Upon first hearing about this brand, I thought it had to be too good to be true that a shower cap was stylish and actually protected your hair from water. I was completely wrong. In fact, Shhowercaps are designed to be much more versatile than your traditional shower cap. These caps are made with nanotechnology and repel water on a molecular level, therefore the water beads up and slides right off, leaving your Shhhowercap dry the moment you step out of the shower. Have you ever noticed that your shower caps all tend to get a little gross after some time? The Shhhowercap avoids that issue with their innovative fabric with antibacterial properties, guaranteeing that it always stays good as new. The rubber grip will ensure that your Shhhowercap never leaves an indent on your forehead or stretch or snap. The best part is, they fit everyone.
I got home from this show and I could not bear to look at my pink plastic shower cap that is falling apart at the seams. For anyone looking to self-indulge and make their shower time feel like luxury, check out these Shhhowercaps at their website here.

Dan Liu SS 18 Collection
The new Dan Liu Spring/Summer 2018 collection could be described in three words: elegant, poised, and confident. The collection, which was inspired by the relaxed beach days of summer, as well as the beautiful pastel colors of spring, was presented at the Skylight Clarkson Sq on a sunny Sunday morning.
In his fourth season of New York Fashion Week, Dan Liu, who is of a Chinese-Japanese Canadian, played with traditional feminine silhouettes and textures, such as an A-line dress with ruffles. The color palette included almost every color of spring and early summer, ranging from baby pink and scarlet red to turquoise and royal blue.. In addition, whether for a day at the beach, or for a brunch with your girlfriends, the collection included an option for every occasion.
The opening look was a stunning red satin dress, which was a combination between a wrap dress and an A-line. The dress perfectly wrapped around the model’s waist, while it flared out at her hips. The dress stopped right above the knee, adding a slight seductive yet modest element into the look.
Another memorable look from the collection was a navy, white polka-dotted jumpsuit, which resembled the recently-retired pajama trend, but looked very beach chic. The look fit the model in an effortless way, which made it seem as if she has just woken up and gone about her day.
Each ensemble in the collection kept a bare minimum amount of accessories, and had beige pumps, or silver/gold ankle-strap heels to compliment it. In contrast, the makeup was statement-making and mesmerizing. With peacock feathers attached to the eyebrows of the models, the eyes were accentuated with heavy strokes of smudged black or brown eyeliner. In order to balance off the heavy eye makeup, each model wore a nude or a light pink gloss, which created an effect of party on the top and effortless beauty on the bottom.
For the grand finale of the show, Dan Liu presented a white, flowy wrap dress, which was accessorized with a hula-hoop that was covered with peacock feathers. As the model graciously marching by the attendees, each person in the audience pulled out their mobile device in order to record and embed the moment in their memory and in their iCloud. The look was a perfect end to the runway show since it created peace between the entire collection and the ideas behind it.

PAXYMA SS18 Collection Debut
Every year, fashion lovers from all over the world swarm to New York Fashion Week to catch the latest trends and to see new creations from their favorite designers. But NYFW is also the perfect setting for up-and-coming designers to debut their collections and make a name for themselves among the fashion elite. One of this year’s rising stars is PAXYMA, a new luxury brand created by design duo Steven Hoffman and Ramin Paksima.
PAXYMA is a cutting-edge line that marries a minimalist palette with luxe, Indian draping styles. At the debut of the new collection, entitled “drishti”, fourteen models strode boldly onto the stark white stage. Only five colors were featured: white, black, silver, taupe, and a fearless shade of marigold. The models stood in formation and transformed the stage into something resembling a post-apocalyptic rebellion. Slick lines, metallic details, monochromatics, and utilitarian aesthetics blended easily with edgy, androgynous styling. Everyone looked comfortable, and everyone looked undeniably badass.
PAXYMA’s unisex design concept makes it a standout for anyone seeking a less binary approach to clothing. But Hoffman and Paksima’s gender-neutral styles aren’t the only thing that make their label a promising name in forward-thinking fashion. The materials are vegan, luxurious, and natural. From ten feet away, the textiles look organic and real. Soft canvas, jersey, and taffeta combine with hard elements of foil, rope, and armor-like safety pin formations to create a futuristic fantasy of a day when industry works with the earth and not against it.
PAXYMA’s ability to balance edgy concepts with straight-forward and minimalist execution is a reflection on its creators. Hoffman is an “all-black wearing minimalist” whose genius lies in structured forms and sleek craftsmanship. Paksima, who is originally from Iran, found inspiration for the line in the draping techniques and silhouettes of India, where he lived for many years. “drishti” has a highly universal appeal. In this collection, people can find chic designs to suit a wide range of body types, gender identities, and tastes. If you feel inspired, you can shop the collection and learn more about the brand here.

Samantha Leibowitz SS18 Collection at New York Fashion Week
On the night of Sunday, September 10th, Philadelphia-born designer Samantha Leibowitz graced 2017 New York Fashion Week with another stunning collection featuring bold textures and unrivaled craftsmanship. Her designs, which wowed the audience, were presented as part of the CAAFD Collective Showcase for Spring/Summer 2018. The show took place at Pier59 Studios and featured 21 different ensembles, each of which carried its own air of timelessness. Paired with upbeat music and a captivated audience, Leibowitz’s designs undoubtedly made a mark.
As each of the 21 models showcased Leibowitz’s designs one by one, the audience progressively grew more astonished by the collection. The colors of the collection were mainly neutral tones of black, white, silvers, and blues. Leibowitz demonstrated a steady balance between street style and evening attire. Additionally, she played with juxtaposing symmetry and asymmetry in her outfits. While her theme was clear and her pieces closely related, they also each displayed a great deal of uniqueness. Among her clothes were dresses, denim, pants, skirts, tanks, and blouses. Each outfit displayed an airiness and buoyancy that was ideal for a Spring/Summer collection.
The models, each of which added a different component to the line, mirrored one another only in hair, which was styled in a messy bun, and bright silvery-blue lipstick. At the end of the show, Leibowitz, who wore a shining textured blouse and black pants with heels, made her way down the runway hand-in-hand with two of the models and received a roar of applause from the audience.
Overall, Leibowitz’s liberating show was a huge hit at 2017 New York Fashion Week. Yet again, she succeeded in providing an ideal collection that can take any woman from “dawn until dusk.” Her edgy yet classic line was nothing short of inspiring.

Harper's Bazaar Icons party 2017
The Plaza Hotel, one of the most prestigious land marks in New York City, was filled with the most glamorous people on Friday night. The star power was at an all-time high at the 2017 Harper's Bazaar Icons party. The bash hosted by the American magazine is one of the most highly anticipated events -- outside of the shows -- at New York Fashion Week. The last three years have seen performances by Kanye West, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga
Each year, Bazaar's global fashion director Carine Roitfeld gathers some of the world's most famous faces for her highly anticipated Icons shoot. This year was no different. This year’s September issue includes an 18-page portfolio of “Icons” in music and entertainment which included: Courtney Love, Dionne Warwick, Grimes, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Miranda Lambert, Travis Scott, Adriana Lima, Natasha Poly, Joan Smalls, Kelly Rohrbach, Irina Shayk, Candice Swanepoel and Karlie Kloss.
“From rock to hip-hop, classic to country, and electric to soul, this unique group of Icons is about diversity, that is what I love,” Roitfeld said. “Celebrating a universal language of music and fashion is important to the world today.” To celebrate this occasion, Bazaar held the star-studded event in New York City presented by Infor, Laura Mercier, Stella Artois, Fujifilm and Swarovski on September 8.
Partygoers arrived through a marbled room filled with Moet vending machines. The guests proceeded up a grand staircase to a soaring ballroom, where there was a bar serving nothing but mini bottles of champagne.
The star of the evening is undoubtedly The Weeknd. The 27-year old Canadian singer-songwriter, born Abel Tesfaye, is one of the hottest singer right now. In a prolonged and highly energetic set, The Weeknd sang tracks including ‘Starboy,’’ ‘Party Monster,’ ‘I Feel It Coming’ and ‘Can’t Feel My Face.’ The mesmerized crowd included Selena Gomez, who received a special shout out from her boyfriend. While it was a big night for The Weeknd, the lavish bash also marked the couple's second red carpet appearance together since the Met Gala.
There are New York fashion week parties and then there's the New York fashion week party: BAZAAR Icons. The evening was a chance for both bold names and no names (myself) to low-key roll into the party.
Nighttrain No. 8 T-shirt Line Launch
On Tuesday, August 8th, media and industry influencers gathered at the Rose Hill restaurant to view a new, buttery soft, innovative t-shirt line by Nighttrain No. 8. Founded by Jamie Antolini, a former Wall Street tycoon, the t-shirt line displays lyrics from songs from some of the most famous rock and roll musicians of all time.
The designer himself was at the event and was more than happy to share his story. Antolini used to spend his time on Wall Street before making the decision to take his talents as a businessman to a different area. With an eye for fashion trends and a passion for rock music, Jamie realized he was onto something great. He combined his skills and interests and immediately got to work on his vision to create a sexy, edgy t-shirt line.
In a short interview with Antolini, he said, “I see all of these young girls walking around in shirts with The Rolling Stones logo on them, and they have no idea who Mick Jagger is. I thought, the lyrics from these bands are powerful not just to old fans, but to anyone”. Bands featured on the shirts include Led Zeppelin, The Clash, and The Beatles. Any lover of music and art is guaranteed to adore these shirts. Each Nighttrain No. 8 t-shirt is made from 100% pure cotton, garment dyed and butter washed. These shirts are made to be worn for either a casual cup of coffee or dressed up for a night of drinks and dancing. Jamie does not plan on stopping there, he already plans on expanding his line to hoodies and long-sleeved shirts.
My favorite thing about this line is the passion within the designer. He took all of these different things that he cared about and he turned them into a career. When he talks about his clothing line, his excitement is infectious. If you want to wear clothing that was truly made from dreams, look no further.
Guests at the launch event were also welcomed to light bites and speciality cocktails by Double Cross Vodka. It was an exceptional night for an exceptional new clothing line. Check out Nighttrain No. 8 at their website here.
Nighttrain No. 8: Rock your body, melt your soul.

Psycho Bunny Pop-Up at Rothmans
Psycho Bunny & Rothmans hosted the event in celebration of both Psycho Bunny’s pop-up and collaboration with James Goldcrown, the West London-born Lovewall muralist who has also worked with Vogue, MTV, Armani Exchange, L’Oréal, Neiman Marcus, and others.
Born in West London, Goldcrown is a self-taught artist/photographer now based in New York & LA. In 2015 he had his first show at Miami Basel where his work sold out in 2 hours. Goldcrown is now known internationally for his Bleeding Hearts/Lovewall murals that can be seen around New York, California, Texas, Miami & Chicago.
The collaboration between Goldcrown and the Psycho Bunny brand was birthed at a Super Bowl party where the two’s graphic artistry collided for the first time. Recently, Psycho Bunny has revealed a “limited edition T-shirt capsule collection,” which is available in three different designs.
Psycho Bunny is the invention of Robert Godley and Robert Goldman and was launched in 2005. Combining Pima cotton with fine tailoring and an irreverent attitude, Psycho Bunny struck a chord and soon developed a dedicated following. Today, it has become a staple for every well-dressed man, and the unforgettable logo has risen from cult status to must-buy. Psycho Bunny is carried at fine retailers such as Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s.
Psycho Bunny unveiled its summer pop-up shop at Rothmans NYC on the evening of June 1st. Guests of the emerging showcase enjoyed upbeat and current music played by DJ Select as well as food and refreshments. Margaritas and Moscow mules were served over ice, in addition to Domo Taco’s “Asian Fusion Mexican” cuisine. Both the food and drinks were ideal victuals for the party as they offered the sustenance and refreshments necessary after a hot summer day. Additionally, the casual yet delicious food and cocktails only served to emphasize stylish coolness of Psycho Bunny’s brand.
Throughout the evening, cheerful guests socialized and migrated throughout Rothmans, viewing and discussing the Psycho Bunny’s menswear on display. Some even ventured into the dressing rooms to try on the brand’s hot new items. Altogether, Psycho Bunny undoubtedly left a powerful impression on its guests, not only through its summer clothing reveal, but also through its incredible party.

UNIQLO X Nintendo Collection Launch
On, Friday May 19th, Uniqlo celebrated its launch of the UNIQLO X NINTENDO clothing series. The series, meant to connect the gaming empire with Uniqlo’s iconic fashion brand, achieved huge success as the event was quickly filled. The clothing series, featuring Donkey Kong, Pikachu, and Mario (as well as a host of other popular characters) was displayed prominently by the Uniqlo workers at the event.
To add to the Nintendo themed festivities, cheerful cosplayers in Link, Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Mario costumes flooded the Fifth Ave venue with gaming-themed snacks like Doritos, shaped watermelon skewers (served on a bed of grass) and Mountain Dew. Additionally, designated open bars throughout the event served gaming-themed drinks such as “Flower Power” and “1UP”.
The crowd bumped along to the music set by DJ WHUTEVER and every so often, an enthusiastic group would form as a dance virtuoso would show off his moves. The sub-stage, filled with flat screen-televisions, hosted a Mario Kart tournament that quickly became a main event. Twelve people entered and played to win a five hundred dollar Uniqlo gift card, and the competition quickly became heated (but still friendly). People gathered to watch and cheer as competitors decked it out in a multi-tiered 100CC course.
The atmosphere was indeed electric, but what lined the walls of the event could be defined as the very pinnacle of nightly entertainment. Stand-up arcades, each playing an iconic Nintendo rendition, served as the ice breaker for most conversations of the night. The two player arcade aspect served as a genius way to connect and start a conversation between guests of many different walks of life.
At 9:30 pm, when things finally came to a close, UNIQLO X NINTENDO shirts were distributed amongst excited guests. Fifth Avenue soon thrummed with energy as cheering people spilled out of the flagship store and started to head home. Guests could be seen laughing and smiling for blocks indicating the wild success of the evening.

The Blonds F/W 17
Image: EB Consults
The Blonds Fall/Winter 2017 runway show was a magical experience from start to finish. Guests stepped into a mystical wonderland filled with enthusiastic guests and loyal fans of the avant-garde brand. Previous collections from The Blonds have been influenced by both classic cinema and imaginative films of the modern era. For their Fall/Winter 2017 collection, inspired by Universal Pictures' upcoming film The Mummy, The Blonds present a narrative collection based on the story of an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her and who is awakened in our current day.
Image: EB Consults
With a view through their uniquely glamorous lens, The Blonds collection is an interpretation of the evolution of The Mummy's title character, a fearless warrior who has embraced her destiny. Using the conflict caused by juxtapositions — hard ornamentation that embellishes rich voluminous fabrics versus soft textiles that have been harnessed into structural pieces such as The Blonds classic corset — The Blonds' vision appears with each piece, revealing the complex-yet-commanding spirit of the woman who wears it.

As the collection is presented in pairs, duality is the overarching theme. One girl is a manifestation of pure, elevated fantasy worthy of center stage. The other is her twin, a wearable, real-world embodiment of the powerful woman who walks among us. After each model made their way down the catwalk they then went to pose in separate cohesive groups in the center of the runway in with matching colors, fabrics, and themes, giving guests the ability to not only see the collection in its entirely, but also individual themes within.

They biggest surprise of the night was when the last model walked off stage, Phillipe himself appeared as a mummy in full drag and a showstopping over-decorated catsuit. It was the perfect finale outfit that would suit your favorite diva of any gender or identity.
Congrats on an incredibly unique show! A special Thanks to Emily from EB Consults for inviting us!

Irina Vitjaz F/W 17
The Austrian-Russian designer once again paid homage to her family’s ancestry which is strongly linked with Russia’s own history, going as far back as the 17th Century. Irina’s ancestors served the Tsar with a nobility, elegance and flair that she incorporated into the designs she presented at her Fall/Winter Showcase.
The show was held at Skylight Clarkson Square, the vast space transformed into the backdrop for her designs. Apart from the runway itself, everything from the walls to the seats were in black, with dramatic music blasting over the speakers. The atmosphere was bordering on somber, were it not for the designs being presented. The mood of the room, the darkness everything was delved in, served to draw all eyes onto the models strutting the clothes down the center -- and by the looks of it, no one was able to turn away.
The majority of the looks were floor length evening or bridal gowns, most of which were embellished with Irina Vitjaz’ typical flair and drama. The emphasis in the collection was particularly on the play with fabrics, teaming see through mesh shirts with long velvet skirts, flowing silk over a figure hugging dress and shiny textures demanding the attention they deserve. The designer clearly was not afraid to add more and more, embellishing many already attention grabbing gowns with beads and sequins.
Apart from the clothes, the models were all styled naturally, their hair arranged in soft curls, barely any makeup and nude heels in order to really let the gowns speak for themselves. And speak they did: Irina Vitjaz took a bow at the end under enthusiastic applause, proving that her flair for embellishments and dramatic statements was a gamble that paid off.

Maison The Faux Presents Faux Cosmetics
A lipstick brand that is proud to help you find your inner FAUX-self? Maison the Faux takes pride in the humor and sense of irony instilled in their brand image, and Faux Cosmetics will surely be no different. The fashion house has created a cosmetic line of dramatic looks encouraging individuality, expression, and rebellion. In fact, their debut collection is said to be composed of only a few main ingredients such as confusion, desire, recyclable trash, and glamour.
Maison the Faux, translated to the “Fictional House”, is renowned for their slight mockery and reactive responses to mainstream fashion. To embrace the individual style of potential wearers, the line consists of shades given clever and distinct names such as ‘Shocking Suede’ and ‘Narcissistic Nude’. The brand encourages all to be a little rebellious with their choice in color.
The premiere of Faux Cosmetics took place on February 11, 2017, during NYFW in Pier 59 Studios. To present the brand new collection, a runway show was held in pure Maison the Faux fashion. Models were dressed in ensembles of lacquered jackets and lace-up sets of tops and bottoms completed with fishnet tights and thigh-high boots.
A few models fled down the runway in a hurry, lipstick in hand, to tease the crowd with the new product. Others carried full trash bags or pushed trash cans of pink flowers, all of which were at some point left on the catwalk during their walk. However, each model had one unmistakable detail: dramatically smudged lipstick. The ultimate ironic aesthetic: challenging the norm of perfectly lined lips with the humor of purchasing a lipstick to wear it messy. The show closed in a fury of supportive claps and hollers, ensuring the concept of Faux Cosmetics had been well received.

Alexander Wang F/W 17
By now, most people know that an Alexander Wang fashion show is not just a show, but an experience. This season was no different.
Wang has a history of staging his shows in unconventional locations. In the past, a Brooklyn greenhouse, a church, and even a bank have all been locations for the WangFest. This time around, he continued that tradition by staging his Fall/Winter 17 in the abandoned historical RKO Hamilton Theater on Broadway and 146th street in Harlem.
The invite declared, “no after-party”, a theme which was repeated throughout the night on entrance wristbands and on models’ tights.
The thought of a Alexander Wang show without an after-party sounds almost ludicrous, however, Wang turned it up a notch to ensure the show itself was a party. Upon their arrival at the historic theater, invitees were presented with a sea of Peroni kegs making certain that no guests were to stay thirsty.
After grabbing a drink or two, guests made their way to the “standing room only” stage where the music by MetroBoomin was literally ground shaking.
Wang fest is usually one of the most anticipated events during the fashion week, infamous for its celebrity-packed guest lists. The Wang Gang rolled deep, as a flood of black SUVs crowded outside the theater hiding inside them countless super celebrities from all walks of life. VIPS like A$AP Ferg, Teyana Taylor, Sofia Richie, Fetty Wap, Ansel Elgort, and Brooklyn Beckham were just a few on the epic guest list. Kylie Jenner, accompanied by Tyga, was also present to cheer on her sister Kendall and friend Bella Hadid.
While the Spring/Summer collection was refreshingly all sportiness and colorful with models in vibrant bikini tops and variation of scuba gears. For the Fall/Winter collection, old habits die hard for Wang as he relapsed to his trademark all dark garb theme.
Lead by star models Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, the collection featured a series of skintight leather trousers, militaristic suit jackets, metallic tailored dresses, and graphic tees – a look in which Bella killed, in a good way. Alexander Wang knows what the people want.
And as long as there are fashions weeks, there will be people dying to experience Alexander Wang.
The NYLON Project
The prominence of homelessness affects individuals and families within cities and communities nationwide. Specifically, New York City has experienced a devastating 115 percent increase in homelessness in just the past twenty years. The NYLON Project is a new initiative aimed to unify and encourage positive change within the metropolitan and the homeless community. Jordana Guimaraes, the founder of the NYLON Project, understands the project might not be the solution, but it is a huge step in the right direction.
The project will utilize social media to create a platform of experiences, messages and personal journeys by using the tag #ItCanBeYou. The intention of the tag is for everyone to share their connection to homelessness and any community involvement in aiding this demographic. This campaign will demonstrate the reality of homelessness and the difference in decision-making that could avoid or lead to a life without a home. The focus is to create an understanding of the circumstances that caused these individuals to become homeless and to eliminate judgment of their situations.
Influencers and celebrities have come together to spread awareness of the issue and committed their time to inspire change. Christina Milian and Jenni Farley (JWOWW) are just two of the twenty-five influencers who have dedicated their time in speaking out on behalf of the NYLON Project.
To launch the initiative, the NYLON Project hosted a New York Fashion Week event on February 7, 2017 at The Delancey. Guests enjoyed networking and live performances from the band FAULKNER, singer Che’Nelle, and The Voice season 11 contestant, Wé McDonald. A runway show highlighted the personal stories of homeless members within the New York community. All twenty-five influencers involved with the campaign modeled in the show, carrying cardboard signs with messages from homeless people written in black ink. The attire from the fashion show was sponsored by many chic brands including Anje Clothing, Belle Fare, Fair Harbor, JayDee, Eternal Springs, SCRD, Wild Mantle, SoFrancisco, Karli Buxton, The Valencia, Mana Made Jewelry, Lonewolf Collective, HERO New York, Conscious Step, Mr. Custom Made, ARMARIUM, House of Eleven and Alkemi Collective.
The launch was an immense success and the NYLON Project is officially active in the movement to end homelessness. The focus will start with the New York City community and hopefully will soon touch lives worldwide.

Golden Hearts Awards 2016
On October 17th, Spring Studios welcomed guests and the stars involved with “God’s Love We Deliver” in celebration of the Golden Heart Awards. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the dinner, a decade of milestone achievements, honorable leaders, and dedicated volunteers. “God’s Love We Deliver” strives to serve the urban community of New York by providing meals and counseling to individuals distressed with the urgency of hunger and who also face crippling illness. The past 10 years have allowed “God’s Love We Deliver” to provide beyond their initial vision of servicing those confronted with HIV/AIDS. Today, the organization prepares and supplies meals that are diet-specific to over 200 different illnesses. Individuals and families receive home-cooked meals free of charge that are nutritional and sustaining to accommodate dietary restrictions from treatment.
The generous contributions donated to “God’s Love We Deliver” support a community of individuals faced with extraordinary challenges and encourage awareness for their circumstances. The Golden Heart Awards recognize the exceptional charitable work and influence of individuals from the year. Co-Chairs of the deciding board include members with their own outstanding achievements; including John D. Idol, Michael Kors, Blaine Trump, and Anna Wintour. Attending the event and red carpet were a long list of industry influencers such as Kate Hudson, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Chrissy Teigen, and Lily Aldridge. This year, the Michael Kors Award for Outstanding Community Service was presented by Kors to activist, model, and entrepreneur, Karlie Kloss. Danny Meyer was chosen to receive the Golden Heart Award for Lifetime Achievement and Wing Tat Leung received the Golden Heart Award for Outstanding Volunteerism. Neil Patrick Harris and Priyanka Chopra both prepared speeches for the dinner.
A notable member of the board, Michael Kors, began a partnership with the United Nations World Food Program in 2013 to further encourage the end of world hunger. The partnership, “Watch Hunger Stop”, has provided more than 13 million individuals with meals in the past 3 years. Kate Hudson has recently joined Kors in his collaboration as an ambassador, also seeking a world without hunger.
The 2016 Golden Heart Awards raised over 2 million dollars for God’s Love We Deliver. They will prepare and provide more than 1.5 million meals to 6,600 individuals within the next year. One night, along with the generosity and tremendous support of contributors, will enable “God’s Love We Deliver” to continue their volunteer work and service to those left vulnerable to hunger.

Coterie x Pryma
To kick off their fashion trade show, which featured some of the best brands in the fashion industry, Coterie hosted a creative event at the tail end of New York Fashion Week. The event was sponsored by Pryma, which provided awesome music that enhanced the evening.
For this event, Coterie created a preview of brands which were then shown at the Coterie trade show a few days later. At press time, 10 pieces were displayed from 60 designers, all of the pieces were hand-selected by the Coterie fashion team.
Some of the brands sampled at the event include Pas de Calais, Milly, Alexis Bittar, Jill Stuart, Markus Lupfer, Koral Antiq Batik, M.i.h., Dodo Bar Or, and Zadig & Voltaire.
The event was held at the World of McIntosh Townhouse in SoHo, formerly owned by Heidi Klum and Seal, and this stunning building only added to the beauty and complexity of each selection of clothes.
Rather than showcasing the brands individually, as is typical of a preview, Coterie instead pulled specific pieces from each designer and grouped them with other pieces, forming multi-brand vignettes. Each vignette had a theme and was placed on a different floor of the townhouse accordingly.
There were beach-themed vignettes of bikinis and sunglasses by the pool. On the main floor, accompanied by upbeat music, there were structured dresses, floral accessories, and sparkling shoes. Lastly there was the upper floor and rooftop terrace, which featured androgynous outfits and edgy music.
No matter the floor or designer, the designs were amazing to see and it was absolutely wonderful that the press got such an intriguing preview of the Coterie trade show.

This year, the event was held at ArtBeam in Chelsea, Manhattan, a district known for its creative galleries, photo studios, and individuals. Trend Report
1) Lu Yang by Yang Lu
This season designers like Alice & Olivia, Rebecca Minkoff, and Libertine sent 60s inspired designs down the runway. Lu Yang by Yang Lu also showcased this era with an updated 60s collection featuring mod style dresses, bright primary colors, and neat geometric patterns. Other highlights included cateye sunglasses, and the return of white Go Go Boots in the form of hightop sneakers instead of a platform. So Retro! Looks like dresses and cool kicks will be sticking around until next season!
2) ACID NYC
ACID NYC showcased an array of vibrant colors and underwater themed prints like jellyfish and seaweed. Their collection featured swim cover ups as well as day-to-night wear including fun accent pieces like fish shaped purses and unique sea foam green harem pants. Some of their looks seemed to be inspired by the Disney classic "The Little Mermaid" with looks resembling Arielle, Prince Eric, and even Ursula! Check it out below!
3) Samantha Leibowitz
Her entire collection seemed to be inspired by athleisure wear from topknot to toe. Which is great news for those who live for pieces that are comfy yet functional enough to wear all day or all night. The color palette didn’t stray from solid black, white, and red, but she also featured a brush stroke print was fluent throughout the collection. If you are looking for leggings with detailed side panels, or great staple pieces to update your casual wear, then check out this stunning collection.
4) Rohitava Baneriee
Embroidery was a huge highlight from last seasons Fall/Winter season inspired by Chinoiserie patterns showcased from the runways of Gucci, Alexander McQueen, and Erdem. This collection took this era to a whole new level with very formal, intricate detailing, and prominent structured panels added to the shoulders and waist. Every look was designed in rich tones of navy, red, gold, and silver. Rohitava Baneriee took formal wear to the next level! There were so many dimensions of drama in each look, check out some of my favorites from this collection below!
5) Nikistavia
Once upon a time there was a collection fit for an Upper East Side princess. It was polished, frilly, and magically crafted with pastels mixed with vibrant colors. The runway was graced with dresses with flowy, draped detailing, and elegant prints straight out of a fairytale. Some pieces were chiffon and silky, while others were crafted out of tweeds giving the designs more structure. To top if all off, some models donned golden jeweled crowns that complimented their loosely tussled hairstyle.
6) Syu Syu Han
For those of you who are huge fans of the 90s grunge revival, then you’ll obsess over how this collection updates the era. Syu Syu Han only used a black and white palette to create her dynamic designs equipped with leather straps and grommet details. Structural elements were mixed with flowy pieces that made ascetic functional with an urban street-style twist. I am a huge fan of her blouses with bold sleeves and simple tees paired with dynamic skirts.
7) Cashmere Song
Totally the most cohesive yet eclectic collection of the day, Cashmere Song created a cozy winter wonderland on the runway. Her designs were more geared towards Fall/Winter 2016 with a variety of white knits in the form of sweaters, skirts, and dresses. Fur accents and cashmere pieces complimented the comfy, wearable pieces. I do love a good winter white, and her collection has some great options for the colder months. Most models wore knit hats with flower details with long braided pigtails cascading down their shoulders. Another kooky touch from the inquisitive designer was sending all of her models down the runway in thick ankle length socks, another snuggly touch to an already comfortable collection.
