Tucked inside the chic Arlo Soho hotel at 2 Renwick Street, Lindens is redefining seasonal dining in Lower Manhattan with the launch of its new Summer Harvest Dinner Menu. Known for its modern American approach and produce-forward philosophy, the restaurant continues to deliver a refined yet approachable experience that feels both comforting and distinctly New York.
Rooted in nature and inspired by the Linden trees that line city blocks across NYC, the restaurant is operated by Renwick Hospitality Group and helmed by hospitality veterans Gary Wallach and Carsten Johansson. Together with Executive Chef Adrian Nava, the team brings together sharp culinary vision and thoughtful service to create a space where both locals and hotel guests can slow down and savor.
This season, Lindens is introducing a $75 prix fixe Summer Harvest Dinner that celebrates the flavors of peak summer. The meal begins with Thyme Parker House Rolls and a vibrant Giardiniera with pickled vegetables and hummus, followed by a trio of shareable small plates: Butter Lettuce with grapefruit and champagne vinaigrette, a rich Heirloom Tomato & Burrata Salad, and Grilled Peaches with Broccoli Rabe served over whipped mascarpone.
Main courses range from elegant vegetarian dishes like Spiced Cauliflower with crispy quinoa and citrus gremolata, to heartier plates such as Summer Carrot Ravioli with pancetta and brown butter, Crispy Chicken Paillard in caper beurre blanc, Grilled Branzino with olive tapenade and eggplant-tahini, and a juicy Hanger Steak with chimichurri and Yukon potatoes. The experience ends with a rotating seasonal dessert crafted by the chef.
Beyond the prix fixe, Lindens’ a la carte offerings continue to showcase their commitment to seasonal, high-quality ingredients. Guests can enjoy favorites like the Honeycrisp Apple & Endive Salad, Margherita Pizza, and a classic Cheeseburger with fries. The raw bar features East and West Coast oysters, while desserts like Pinot Noir Poached Pears and warm chocolate chip cookies add just the right amount of indulgence. A well-rounded cocktail program and an organic-forward wine list make Lindens a perfect spot for both casual drinks and destination dining.
Before or after your meal, take advantage of everything Arlo Soho has to offer. Grab a sunset cocktail at ART Soho or settle into a cozy nightcap at Foxtail, the hotel’s underground speakeasy-inspired lounge.
From its thoughtful seasonal cooking to its inviting ambiance, Lindens is a standout spot for summer dining in NYC.

Dim Sum Palace has officially landed in Long Island City—and its debut couldn’t feel more at home. Located at 2428 Jackson Avenue, in the historic former Brooks 1890 building, this newest outpost of the beloved Cantonese restaurant group blends neighborhood legacy with modern Cantonese flavors in a space that feels both rooted and refreshed.
Walking in, you're greeted by a beautifully restored interior—stained glass windows, mahogany bar, and tin-stamped ceilings preserved from the Gilded Age. But while the space nods to its historic past, the menu delivers a bright, flavorful snapshot of what Cantonese dining in NYC should be.
Our meal was a standout from start to finish. We began with chilled cucumbers—lightly smashed, garlicky, and refreshing—followed by braised turnip, tender and deeply savory. The spicy wontons arrived swimming in chili oil and vinegar, the wrappers delicate and the filling juicy with a pleasant heat that lingered.
Next came the star of the night: duck dumplings, rich and perfectly seared, served piping hot and filled with deeply flavorful shredded duck. The crab fried rice was another hit—light and fragrant, with sweet crab meat tucked into each bite and just the right amount of wok hei. For mains, the eggplant was meltingly soft and dressed in a savory brown sauce, while the fish fillet—served in a sizzling clay pot—was flaky and tender, soaking up every drop of the aromatic sauce it was nestled in.
The experience is fully dine-in—no takeout or delivery—which makes every bite feel more intentional. Each dish is cooked to order, staying true to Dim Sum Palace’s founding philosophy: freshly rolled, freshly stuffed, freshly made. The service was warm and attentive, offering thoughtful recommendations and encouraging us to try the restaurant’s signature condiment bar, where we mixed our own chili oil and garlic-soy blends.
With seating for about 70 guests, the space strikes the right balance between casual comfort and occasion-worthy charm. Whether you’re in for a weeknight meal or looking to impress visiting friends, this location delivers quality, consistency, and a bit of East-meets-West Village charm right in the heart of Queens.
Dim Sum Palace in Long Island City doesn’t just serve food—it delivers a dining experience rooted in history, pride, and meticulous craft. As new high-rises and businesses continue to shape the neighborhood, this restaurant feels like a heartfelt nod to the past and a delicious investment in the future.

On June 30, a day ahead of its official public debut, Dumpling Xi celebrated the grand opening of its new East Village location at 71 4th Avenue with a lively and flavor-packed evening that brought together press, food lovers, and friends of the brand.
The event marked a major milestone for the internationally celebrated dumpling brand, known across China for its commitment to freshly made, boldly seasoned Northern Chinese dishes. With over 800 locations throughout Asia, this new Manhattan opening is Dumpling Xi’s second U.S. location—and its first in the heart of New York City.
Guests at the grand opening were treated to a first taste of Dumpling Xi’s signature dishes, including crowd-pleasers like the Tossed Lotus Root Shaped Noodles and Beef Mixed with Wood Ear Mushrooms, alongside Red Chili Oil Dumplings and two standout hot pots: Fish Fillet & Vegetable and Beef & Vegetable, both served in a spicy and sour broth that quickly became the evening’s star. The dumplings, true to the brand’s name and legacy, were the main event—served hot and made to order. Notable highlights included Celery & Pork, Zucchini Egg & Shrimp, and Shrimp Chive & Egg Dumplings, all offered in both boiled and fried preparations.
Founded in Hegang, Heilongjiang in 2002, Dumpling Xi has built a cult following based on its philosophy of “freshly rolled, freshly stuffed, freshly made.” Its now-iconic long, straight-line dumplings—shaped like the Chinese character "—"—are a hallmark of the brand’s visual and culinary identity. With over 27 million loyal members in China and the support of 35 central kitchens and 11,000+ employees, Dumpling Xi's U.S. expansion aims to introduce its refined take on homestyle dumplings to a global audience.
The East Village location captures the spirit of the brand while offering a fast-casual experience tailored for New Yorkers. With 70 seats, an open and minimalist dining room, and no takeout or delivery options, the restaurant encourages diners to slow down, sit down, and enjoy dumplings at their freshest—right out of the kitchen. A DIY condiment bar lets each guest craft their perfect flavor profile using house-made chili oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, and fresh garlic.
Alongside the dumplings, the menu offers flavorful braised neck bone pots, spicy-sour broths, cold side dishes like Seaweed Salad and Red Bean Sweet Rice Soup, and desserts such as Black Sesame Soup with Sweet Rice Balls. Beverage offerings include Beibingyang Sparkling Orange Soda, Herbal Tea, Coconut Milk, and more.
This opening continues Dumpling Xi’s global mission: “Passing on for a Century, Spanning the Globe.” And judging by the excitement and full tables on opening night, it’s safe to say that the East Village is ready to embrace the dumpling.

BarChef Delivers a Multi-Sensory Cocktail Experience
BarChef, the internationally celebrated cocktail institution from Toronto, has officially arrived in New York—and its private preview offered a first taste of what may become the city’s most innovative drinking destination.
BarChef, the internationally celebrated cocktail institution from Toronto, has officially arrived in New York—and its private preview offered a first taste of what may become the city’s most innovative drinking destination. Located at 21 W. 35th Street, the venue is a sleek, modern space that blends immersive design with culinary-level precision, redefining what it means to have a drink in Manhattan.
The evening introduced guests to the visionary world of Frankie Solarik, the creative force behind BarChef and a global pioneer in the modernist cocktail movement. Known for his role as a judge on Netflix’s Drink Masters and author of The Bar Chef: A Modern Approach to Cocktails, Solarik’s approach pushes far beyond traditional mixology. His drinks are sculptural, aromatic, and theatrical—blurring the line between cocktail and cuisine.
One of the most talked-about features previewed was BarChef’s modernist kitchen counter—an intimate, chef’s table-style setup where guests will soon be able to watch their cocktails come to life in front of them. Think: liquid nitrogen, cryo-poached botanicals, encapsulated citrus, and dramatic plumes of aromatic smoke.
The Cocktails
BarChef’s cocktail menu reads more like a fine dining tasting menu, filled with ingredients and techniques that excite the palate and the imagination. Some highlights from the preview included:
Spring Thaw: A vibrant, floral composition of Tanqueray No. 10, Champagne, spherified Campari and vanilla, citrus blossom air, and edible flower petals.
Golden Honey Penicillin: Beeswax-infused Johnnie Walker Black Label with turmeric and saffron ice, ginger lemongrass syrup, and a roasted corn cannoli filled with white chocolate ganache.
Palo Santo: A smoky, meditative creation with cedar-infused Canadian rye, balsam fir bitters, and a palo santo smoked ice sphere.
Shinzen Martini: A delicate yet layered riff on a classic, made with Roku Gin, Umeshu, dry vermouth, and a watermelon rose cordial.
BarChef also offers elevated non-alcoholic options, including the Agave Heights (made with Seedlip Grove 41, hibiscus, and floral bitters) and the beautifully layered Forgotten Beauty, a composition of jasmine, cherry, and smoked vanilla.
The Food
Designed to complement its cocktails without overshadowing them, BarChef’s Japanese-inspired menu includes dishes like Mango Sea Bream, Oxtail Potstickers, Wagyu Tartare, and Chilean Sea Bass. For a luxurious finish, guests can indulge in Seared A5 Wagyu or share refined bar snacks like Truffle Waffle Fries and Tallow Shishito Peppers.
The Space
Spanning 3,200 square feet, the venue features a retractable rooftop with stunning views of the Empire State Building, a 14-seat bar, and elegant interiors that strike a balance between intimacy and spectacle. The design mirrors the cocktails—precise, immersive, and visually arresting.
The Vision
BarChef’s arrival in New York marks its first international expansion and a major milestone for the brand that began in 2008 in Downtown Toronto. Co-owned by Frankie Solarik, along with Mino Habib and Mathias Van Leyden (of Loulou Petit Bistro and Adelaide’s Salon), BarChef New York brings a culinary philosophy to cocktails, where every drink is a carefully orchestrated performance.
This isn’t just about going out for a drink. It’s about redefining the very nature of what a cocktail can be—where each glass tells a story, evokes a mood, and delivers a sensory experience that lingers long after the last sip.
BarChef New York officially opens June 18, 2025.

The Hamptons summer scene officially ignited with a one-night-only takeover by hip-hop legend Ja Rule at Calissa in Water Mill on Friday, June 13th. The occasion? The exclusive Hamptons launch of his new whiskey line, Amber & Opal—and the crowd came ready to toast.
Calissa’s already-iconic bar transformed into a stage for Ja Rule himself, who stepped into bartender mode to pour up his favorite custom cocktails using Amber & Opal. Guests enjoyed whiskey-based cocktails, wine, and Mediterranean hors d’oeuvres, all while soaking in the signature Calissa ambiance—sun-drenched Mykonos energy mixed with classic Hamptons polish.

On this night, the party flowed inside and out, with live music, flowing drinks, and a crowd that brought the weekend energy early.
The star of the night—besides Ja Rule himself—was the Amber & Opal whiskey collection. With smooth, warm flavor profiles and a striking bottle design, it was easy to see why guests were eager to sample more than one of the specialty cocktails. Ja Rule’s passion behind the brand was clear, and his behind-the-bar charisma sealed the vibe.

Tanqueray Debuts ‘Tanq Holiday’ with a Historic NYSE Closing Bell Moment
To mark the unofficial start of summer and toast to long weekends ahead, Tanqueray Gin, the No. 1 gin in the U.S., partnered with the New York Stock Exchange to introduce a spirited new tradition: Tanq Holiday.
To mark the unofficial start of summer and toast to long weekends ahead, Tanqueray Gin, the No. 1 gin in the U.S., partnered with the New York Stock Exchange to introduce a spirited new tradition: Tanq Holiday. This playfully British-inspired activation took place on Thursday, May 22, 2025, as a way to honor cocktail culture, the trade community, and that blissful shift from work to play.
Making history in the process, Tiffanie Barriere—award-winning mixologist and respected beverage educator—became the first mixologist ever to ring the NYSE Closing Bell. Her presence at the stock exchange wasn’t just symbolic; it was celebratory. At 4:00 PM, Barriere rang the bell, signaling more than just the close of trading—it signaled the beginning of Tanq Holiday and a nationwide invitation to unwind with a martini in hand.
Following the ceremony, the NYSE hosted a private Tanqueray Happy Hour, where Barriere served as Program Beverage Director, curating a bespoke cocktail menu inspired by the prestige and energy of the exchange. Guests sipped on classic Tanqueray Martinis and other gin-forward creations while learning cocktail techniques through an intimate mixology class led by Barriere.
The event also set the stage for Tanqueray’s Martini Month, a June-long celebration spotlighting the legacy of the martini and the bartenders who have helped shape it into one of the most iconic cocktails in history. With Tanqueray’s signature spirit at the center, Martini Month will pay tribute to both the enduring craftsmanship of cocktail-making and the vibrant culture of the trade community.
As the long weekend rolled in, Tanq Holiday gave New Yorkers—and the nation—a reason to raise a glass, shift the mood, and officially welcome the season of martinis.
Cook Like Carmy at the Institute of Culinary Education
With the new season of the Bear just around the corner, I jumped at the chance to learn how to cook similar recipes that they feature on the show in real life. At the Institute of Culinary Education (also known as ICE to those in the know), they’ve been teaching this class since Season 2. Jeremy Allen White took an intensive bootcamp at ICE’s LA campus, so ICE felt it was only fitting to offer a course to other aspiring chefs.
The first part of class was meeting our fearless leader that would be taking us through all of these recipes. That man was Chef Roger Sitrin. Chef is the Lead Recreational Chef at ICE, so we knew we were in good hands. Secondarily, we needed to break up into teams, because to preparing 4 dishes in 4 hours was going to be a feat. I met fellow chefs Dennis and Ken in the lobby while waiting for the class and since they said they knew the instructor, I asked to join tthem. We then adopted Hailey, who takes ICE recreational classes often. I think our group was the best, but I may be biased.
The class included instruction on how to prepare The Beef’s Italian Beef Sandwich, Carmy’s Chicken Piccata, Michael’s Family Meal Spaghetti Pomodoro and Marcus’ Chocolate Cake. We started with preparing dessert since it would take the longest to set. This was the dish that was the most in my wheelhouse. Ingredients were all pre-measured so you could focus on making the dish what it needed to be in the short amount of time we had. All the ingredients were very high quality and we felt grateful to have access to them.
For the savory dishes, I’m glad I had a team because I felt a bit novice for what we had to pull off. The spaghetti was simple enough, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that Chef had to come over and save us a couple times. That being said, the final product of everything we made appeared professional, tasted amazing and that’s what matters! I’m also glad they had a meat slicer for the beef since it made it so similar to what you’d get at the Beef. When we finished preparing all of our dishes, the assistants for the day, Dante, Reyna and Jess, set up stools for us to pull up and taste the fruits of our labor. They even had wine! We were exhausted and I can only imagine what it feels like to work in a working kitchen where they prepare dishes over and over again!
This class is only scratching the surface of what this facility offers. ICE is celebrating its 50th (!) Anniversary this year, but a decade in the current space in 225 Liberty Place. In addition to hosting an actual school, they also offer many classes just like this one for those that cook as a hobby and sessions where you can see notable individuals in the culinary community speak. For more on the anniversary, please visit here and to book a class of your own, please visit here.
Baba Cool: A hidden gem in Fort Greene
Whether it's pre-theater dining near BAM or a relaxed spot to unwind after exploring Fort Greene Park, baba cool delivers. Just around the corner from Brooklyn's cultural landmarks, the new location offers spacious indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for post-event drinks, casual brunch, or hosting private events.
What started as a cozy café has matured into a multi-faceted space where the vibe shifts effortlessly from day to night. Whether you’re popping in for a morning cappuccino or settling in for a glass of natural wine and small plates with friends, Baba Cool in Fort Greene retains the same easygoing charm that made it a local staple. Its new, larger space—just steps from Fort Greene Park and the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM)—features roomy indoor and outdoor seating, ideal for anything from brunch with a laptop to post-theater cocktails.
By day, Baba Cool is an oasis of vibrant, health-conscious fare. The café menu focuses on fresh, vegetable-forward dishes like crisp salads, hearty bowls, and nourishing brunch favorites that have become synonymous with Brooklyn’s food scene. Coffee culture is still at the heart of the experience, but the kitchen—helmed by Chef Hector Lugo—brings elevated simplicity to the table with dishes like baby kale salad with manchego and almonds, and baba fries seasoned with manchego, scallions, and cayenne mayo.
As the sun sets, Baba Cool subtly transforms. Lights dim, music hums, and the dinner menu emerges with bold, shareable dishes perfect for gathering over drinks. Small plates like shrimp toast with fennel confit and baby beets with preserved lemon yogurt are matched by satisfying mains such as crispy chicken with dijonnaise and the comforting “Drunken Gabi,” a rice noodle bowl packed with broccolini, cabbage, and green goddess dressing.
Even dessert gets its moment with a rich, sea salt–topped olive oil chocolate mousse. Whether you’re winding down after a stroll in Fort Greene Park or gathering with friends for Happy Hour, the energy is welcoming and unpretentious.
But the soul of Baba Cool really lies in its owner, Gabriella Mann. A Brooklyn resident with a background behind the bar, Gabriella brings warmth, inclusivity, and attention to detail to every aspect of her business. Baba Cool isn’t just a place to eat and drink—it’s a gathering space designed for connection, joy, and community. Gabriella’s latest venture, wine bar BABA on Withers in Williamsburg, shares the same ethos, proof of her growing legacy in New York’s hospitality scene.
Whether it’s a weekend brunch, an intimate dinner, or a casual drink with friends, Baba Cool fits the moment. With a seasonal menu, full bar, and cozy yet modern ambiance, it offers the rare kind of space where anyone—locals and newcomers alike—can feel like a regular.

Attending the New York Junior League’s “Savor the Spring: A Night at the Museum” on April 26, 2025, was a vibrant evening of wine, food, and community at the historic Astor House. The event was a celebration of New York’s museum culture, brought to life through immersive design, curated wine pairings, and culinary experiences inspired by the city’s most iconic institutions.
From the moment guests entered the venue, each room transported them into a different museum-inspired world. Whether it was the tranquil beauty of a gallery space or the historic charm of a cultural exhibit, the atmosphere was thoughtfully curated to stimulate both the senses and the imagination. The NYJL partnered with Manhattan Wine Company to offer a variety of exquisite wines, each thoughtfully matched to its corresponding themed room, creating a tasting journey through art and history.
The food offerings were just as impressive, with dishes crafted by standout local chefs. One of the evening’s highlights was the sushi and Japanese small bites presented by Ichiban Japanese Catering, whose menu brought refined flavors and elegant presentation to the event. Guests raved about the freshness and artistry of each dish, which paired beautifully with the curated wine selections. Alongside the wine, expertly mixed cocktails from local bartending talents elevated the experience further.
Guests who opted for the VIP package received early access to the event and enjoyed a more intimate setting for mingling, including a reserved lounge area and special VIP bites and beverages. The gift bags were also a treat—packed with luxury items from SkinSpirit, Brashley Vineyards, and more.
This year was especially exciting, as the event raised over $136,000—an increase of $11,000 from last year’s total of $125,000. The strong turnout and enthusiastic support underscored the community’s dedication to NYJL’s mission of improving the lives of women and children across New York City. Proceeds from the evening directly fund the organization’s many community programs and initiatives. Guests also had the opportunity to participate in both silent and live auctions, bidding on items like luxury vacations, beauty treatments, and designer goods.
The energy throughout the evening was warm and inspiring. Conversations flowed as effortlessly as the wine, and the room buzzed with a shared appreciation for community engagement and cultural celebration. The NYJL once again demonstrated its unique ability to blend purpose with pleasure, creating a night that was not only fun but deeply meaningful.

Dos Tres Brings Authentic Mexican Cuisine Just Below the High Line
Dos Tres is an authentic Mexican concept from Marco Britti, the restaurateur behind Calle Dao and Mareluna and Executive Chef Henry Zamora from The Bazaar and French Laundry. The expansive 2,700 square foot space hosts happy hour, brunch and soon to offer lunch.
Photo courtesy of Create & Align
As someone who has lived in the city for a very long time, I can attest that good dining options west of 8th Avenue are hard to come by. That’s why I was so excited to hear about Dos Tres opening on the corner of 10th avenue and, you guessed it, 23rd Street.
The authentic Mexican concept from Marco Britti, the restaurateur behind Calle Dao and Mareluna, has tapped Executive Chef Henry Zamora from The Bazaar and French Laundry, to lead the charge for this expansive 2,700 square foot space.
We checked out the space for happy hour, which is currently being offered everyday from 12pm-7pm, including brunch (lunch service will begin in April)! Since we were in a Mexican restaurant, we had to try the margarita and for $10, you can get a flavored on. I opted for the mango variety and was happy with my choice. A regular margarita, beer, wine or well drinks will all run you $9.
We then moved onto sharable plates and tried a very solid guacamole ($12), chicken and cheese flautas ($12) and crispy wings ($12), which you wouldn’t necessarily associate with this type of concept, but with the flavorful seasoning, fit perfectly into the mix. The dishes were colorfully displayed, so not only were we satiated but it also made for great photos!
We’ve proven Dos Tres is perfect for happy hour, but are excited to go back and try more of the menu from this A-list team. When it’s not happy hour, menu highlights include signature tacos like Birria and Carnitas, and standout entrées like Enchiladas Verdes and Mexican Paella. Signature cocktails are also available, curated by Joy & Libation & Co, and tequila enthusiasts have the option to try flights of the restaurant’s offerings.
Photo Courtesy of Create & Align
Dos Tres is a great space for gathering with friends, family and we’ve even seen dating events happen here! We’re excited to see what they have up their sleeve for Cinco de Mayo, even though we’re well aware that is an Americanized celebration! For more information on Dos Tres, please visit https://www.instagram.com/Dostresnyc.

Sicily Osteria Serves Up Authentic Italian Fare on Restaurant Row
New York City is home to Sicily Osteria, an authentic Sicilian restaurant in the heart of Times Square on Restaurant Row. Owner and President, Robert Malta, is not new to the restaurant scene, with other locations under his belt/ the New York City Restaurant Group like Bocca di Bacco, Arte Cafe and more, this is the first time he’s gone back to his roots and featured a restaurant focused on Sicilian cuisine.
Since going to Sicily last year, finding a way to feed my craving of Sicilian culture without taking a flight has been top of mind. As one of the food capitals of the world, I am grateful that New York City is home to Sicily Osteria, an authentic Sicilian restaurant in the heart of Times Square on Restaurant Row. Owner and President, Robert Malta, is not new to the restaurant scene, with other locations under his belt like Bocca di Bacco, Arte Cafe and more. Sicily Osteria is, however, the first time he’s gone back to his roots and featured a restaurant focused on Sicilian cuisine.
Walking into the Sicily Osteria space, you’re able to pretend that it isn’t 20 degrees outside. The warm and inviting atmosphere is infectious, and on purpose. Malta has actual photos of his family adorning the walls. The space is also tremendous. In addition to a weather protected patio area and interior, there is an entire 2nd story and outdoor space that is also weather protected, so it’s safe to say there is space for a party or two.
In terms of what to order, you can’t really go wrong here. What I was very excited about was that pannelle, an Italian street food snack made out of chickpea and flour that I grew addicted to in Sicily, was on the menu! This is not a typical item on an Italian menu in the states and the little pillows of dough were a great way to start off our meal. We also received rolls in a cast iron pan that did not last long enough to dip in the Pat LaFrieda wagyu meatballs sauce. Served with ricotta on top, the dish was definitely cooked with love. Pasta dishes were too difficult to choose between, but the Spaghetti Chitarra, a mixture of crab, pistachio, lemon, cream and marjoram, is another dish that you don’t see everyday and one that should not be missed!
A entree so popular that it is outlined on the menu, is the Pollo Parmigiana, or chicken parm. The portions here are extremely generous so count on having leftovers for the next day or two. We also had to save room for dessert, considering Pastry Chef Alessandro Duerto from Sweet Rehab is now at the helm. We opted for the Limone Di Sicilia, shaped like a lemon but filled with lemon prepared all the ways. It was a refreshing way to end our meal.
Sicily Osteria is a perfect place to dine if you’re looking to evoke Sicilian vibes without hopping on a flight. They also offer a three course lunch prix fixe if you’re looking to dine on a budget.

We had the pleasure of dining at Le Petit Village before its official opening, and it was nothing short of spectacular.
We had the pleasure of dining at Le Petit Village before its official opening, and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the first sip of a meticulously crafted cocktail to the final bite of a rich and flavorful Steak au Poivre, every element of the experience transported us to the charming villages of Provence. This highly anticipated French bistro, opening on February 20, 2025, at 173 7th Avenue South in the West Village, is poised to become one of the city's most coveted dining destinations.
Behind this new concept is a powerhouse team of restaurateurs and investors. Owners Mathias Van Leyden and Mino Habib, known for Loulou Petit Bistro & Speakeasy and Adelaide’s Salon, have teamed up with New York Jets Captain C.J. Mosley and his business partner Brandon Wassel to bring this vision to life. For Van Leyden, the project is a deeply personal one, inspired by his childhood spent in the small villages of Southern France in the late 1970s.
The menu, crafted by Executive Chef Mehjabin Ahmed, is a love letter to French regional cuisine. With experience in some of the world’s most celebrated restaurants, including Eleven Madison Park, Le Coucou, Spice Market, and Jean’s, Chef Mehjabin has designed a menu that blends classic French techniques with a seasonal, terroir-driven approach. Guests can look forward to Coq au Vin, a slow-braised chicken dish simmered in red wine, or the rich, comforting Cassoulet, a slow-cooked medley of beans, sausage, and confit duck. Other highlights include Raclette, featuring warm, melted cheese served over potatoes and charcuterie, the rustic and flavorful Ratatouille, and the indulgent Bœuf Bourguignon, a tender, wine-braised beef dish that embodies the heart of French cooking.
For those who prefer to dine earlier in the day, brunch will launch on March 22nd, bringing a new layer of indulgence to the experience.
A restaurant with such thoughtful cuisine deserves an equally refined bar program, and Le Petit Village delivers with a cocktail menu designed by Jeremy Le Blanche of Fantom Creative Hospitality. With a background at La Reserve St. Tropez and Thyme Bar NYC, Le Blanche’s creations push the boundaries of traditional French mixology. The Rose De Chloe, a blend of bourbon, Ratafia, and salted caramel Campari topped with meringue and dehydrated rose, is a must-try. The Fleure Blanche offers an eye-catching mix of bee pollen-infused vodka, St. Germain Elderflower, cucumber Pani Puri syrup, and edible glitter. Other standouts include the smoky Devilwood Old Fashioned and the playful yet sophisticated My First Love. Each cocktail is not just a drink but an experience, with carefully selected ingredients designed to enhance both flavor and presentation.
The ambiance at Le Petit Village is just as inviting as its menu. Designed by Delphine Mauroit of DMDesign - Architecture, the 3,000-square-foot space blends old-world French elegance with modern intimacy. The bi-level venue features two bars, seating ten guests at the main bar and six on the mezzanine, while the dining room is warmed by reclaimed wood, parquet flooring, and exposed brick. Dark red leather banquettes, softly lit brass sconces, and a vintage fireplace create an inviting, cozy atmosphere. Upstairs, a private dining and cocktail lounge adds an element of exclusivity, featuring nostalgic black-and-white party photos reminiscent of New York’s vibrant nightlife history. Outside, the classic French storefront is adorned with a hand-painted deep red and white façade, climbing greenery, and an old-world charm that makes it feel as though it has always been part of the neighborhood.
Reservations will soon be available on www.lepetitvillagenyc.com. With its authentic French cuisine, artfully crafted cocktails, and a setting that captures the romance of Provence, Le Petit Village is set to become a beloved destination for both locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re stopping by for a comforting Bœuf Bourguignon, savoring a signature cocktail, or discovering the hidden speakeasy upstairs, this is a place where every meal feels like a journey—and every guest is part of the story.

This month, Chef Michael Ayoub kicked off Mondays with Michael, a new dinner series at Fornino in Greenpoint. The space is super intimate with a grandiose glass chandelier that is reminiscent to Chihuly’s work. You then find out that Chef Ayoub also moonlights as an expert glass blower!

The 5-course wood-fired dinner is $55 and concepted by Chef Ayoub himself, who you’ll see in the exposed kitchen when you walk in. There is also an optional wine pairing for $35 that is selected specifically for the the meal. The dinner will always feature a fresh seasonal vegetable starter, a bespoke artisanal pizza, house-made pasta, a protein with a special side and dessert.
Our meal began with an amuse-bouche small bite courtesy of the chef to set the tone for the meal. The first of five official courses for this particular dinner was a mushroom, cauliflower and sunchoke soup, but ingredients for the courses change each month. The exclusive Black and White Pizza was a perfect combination of salty and sweet with the savory truffle and sweet ricotta and honey. Chef Ayoub ‘s version of an 11 Layer Pasta was a colorful interpretation that was a top notch addition to this coursed dinner.

The main course was a hearty, rich winter portion of chicken and polenta. This dish sent me over the edge of being full but I had to save room for dessert!

The Baked Alaska was a generous portion that should’ve been a fraction of the size, but was unbelievably delicious and a perfect way to end the meal. As if that wasn’t enough, we were also treated to homemade cookies before leaving.
Future Mondays with Michael dinners will take place the second Monday of each month. A special Valentine’s Day menu is already set for the next curated meal in February. This is perfect for a special occasion, to bring friends, family or even to impress a date.
You will not find a better tasting menu for this price and of this caliber from a chef that is an icon in the industry. For more information and to book reservations, please visit or more information, visit: https://www.fornino.com/.

Mediterranean-inspired Boni & Mott in Nolita is the perfect escape from winter in NYC, serving up vibrant plates adorned with fresh vegetables and aromatics in a warm and inviting dining space. Founded by Mehdi Mokrani, his brother Foued, and cousin Salim Ben, Boni & Mott reflects their Algerian roots and passion for hospitality. This dedication is evident as soon as you enter, with warm lighting, earthy tones, and a mix of upbeat instrumentals and tunes setting the mood.
During a chilly evening in the city, I decided to visit the transportive restaurant and was pleasantly greeted by the relaxing interior and menu full of traditional Mediterranean dishes with a modern twist. The community-driven design feels airy, fostering connection and conversation, while the menu elevates natural ingredients like cauliflower and baby lettuce to new heights. Details like rustic wooden tables and custom wallpaper—a homage to neighborhood fixtures like Thai Diner—thanks to contributions from local artisans, also add to the restaurant’s charm.

The menu highlights include Lioni’s Latticini Burrata with roasted baby beets and Banyuls wine vinaigrette, Hamachi Crudo with heirloom cherry tomatoes and colatura-based vinaigrette, Roasted Half-Cauliflower with house-made pesto, Mazzini raisins, and mint, Spanish Octopus a la Plancha with eggplant and herb vinaigrette, and Whole Dorade served over a delicate Vierge sauce topped with fresh garden herbs. The Slow-Roasted Chicken with ras el hanout, in particular, was the best I’ve ever eaten—moist, flavorful, and unforgettable. The beverage program emphasizes sustainability, featuring organic and biodynamic wines, including standout options like Georgian Orange Wine. Non-alcoholic options include craft beers and mocktails.
