NJ Wine & Food Festival at Crystal Springs

Crystal Springs Resort was the perfect backdrop for an indulgent escape to the New Jersey Wine & Food Festival 2026. Surrounded by sweeping mountain and valley views, the property gave the weekend an easy sense of calm before the food and wine festivities began.

View From Our Room

Crystal Springs Resort was the perfect backdrop for an indulgent escape to the New Jersey Wine & Food Festival 2026. Surrounded by sweeping mountain and valley views, the property gave the weekend an easy sense of calm before the food and wine festivities began.

Our one-bedroom suite at Grand Cascades Lodge added to that feeling immediately. The suite was spacious and comfortable, with a gorgeous balcony overlooking the landscape. Thoughtful conveniences like a stove and refrigerator made it easy to settle in, while staying right at Grand Cascades Lodge kept us in the center of the festival experience throughout the weekend.

Champagne Reception

Champagne Reception

The first night kicked off with the Champagne Reception, setting the tone for a celebration full of incredible dishes, wine, and hospitality. From there, we headed into the Wine Cellar Dinner with world-renowned chef Marco Pierre White. The evening was intimate and special, especially knowing that Marco had personally prepared each meal and spent 14 hours cooking for the dinner. Even after all that time in the kitchen, he kept the atmosphere relaxed and eventually joined guests, chatting late into the evening. The wine pairings were excellent, the courses were beautifully prepared, and each plate showcased true culinary mastery.

The next morning started in one of the most unexpected ways: Goat Yoga. A recurring resort activity, Goat Yoga brought a fun and lighthearted break to the schedule. It was the perfect reminder that the festival was not only about fine dining and wine, but also about enjoying everything Crystal Springs Resort has to offer.

Marco Signing Books

After Goat Yoga, we attended A Conversation & Book Signing with Marco Pierre White, where guests had the chance to meet him and talk with him directly. It was a great continuation of the previous night and a standout highlight for anyone who appreciates culinary legends.

Lunch that day was the New Jersey Culinary Stars Lunch, and it became one of the most personal moments of the festival. Hosted with New Jersey Monthly Senior Editor Jacqueline Mroz, the lunch celebrated the magazine’s 40 Best Restaurants List and brought together an incredible lineup of chefs, including Dan Richer of Razza, Tom Silvestri of ORA, Sean Yan of Ram & Rooster, Matt Laurich of Restaurant Latour, Florian Wehrli of Restaurant Latour, and Emily Downs of Emily’s Hearth.

Swordfish by Chef Silvestri

What made the lunch especially special was how intimate and interactive it was. The chefs came around to each table, spoke with guests, shared more about their dishes, and helped everyone feel more connected to what they were tasting. Every course was delicious, but being able to meet the chefs behind the plates added something truly meaningful to the afternoon.

Meeting mini pigs

Later, we attended Little Pours, Big Flavor: WhistlePig and Mini Piggies, which brought a playful and charming twist to the day. Meeting the little pigs was a fun break between all the tastings and gave guests one more moment to smile about.

The grand finale was the Main Event: VIP Grand Tasting, and it truly lived up to its name. Room after room was packed with tastings, drinks, and culinary surprises. The event also brought out many top chefs, including Chef Morimoto and Robbie Felice of Pasta Ramen, adding even more excitement to an already unforgettable tasting experience. Everywhere we turned, there was a new dish to try, a new pour to enjoy, and a new reason to keep exploring. By the end, our stomachs were filled to the brim, but in the best possible way.

The New Jersey Wine & Food Festival 2026 at Crystal Springs Resort was more than a food event. It was a full getaway filled with luxury, laughter, scenic views, talented chefs, creative programming, and nonstop flavor. The resort itself played a huge part in making the stay feel complete, giving guests a beautiful place to relax, recharge, and enjoy so much beyond the festival programming. It was the kind of culinary experience that shows why the best festivals combine great cuisine with unforgettable moments.

Joy of Sake 2026

The Joy of Sake returned to New York City on April 30th, bringing one of the world’s most impressive sake experiences

The Joy of Sake returned to New York City on April 30th, bringing one of the world’s most impressive sake experiences to Metropolitan Pavilion for an evening filled with craftsmanship, discovery, and exceptional food. Known as the largest sake tasting outside Japan, the event offered guests the rare opportunity to explore hundreds of competition-level sakes in a lively walkaround setting, paired with sake-inspired bites from some of New York’s top restaurants.

For sake lovers, the evening was both a tasting and a journey. Attendees sampled from an extraordinary selection of 492 premium sakes, including daiginjo, ginjo, and junmai styles from sake-brewing regions across Japan and the U.S. Many of the bottles poured were not otherwise available in the United States, making the event feel especially rare and intimate despite its festival-like energy. Guests moved from table to table, using pipettes to sample award-winning competition entries and compare different expressions of rice polishing, aroma, texture, and finish.

What makes The Joy of Sake New York so special is the level of access it gives attendees. These are not ordinary pours. The sakes featured include recipients of silver and gold awards from the U.S. National Sake Appraisal, a rigorous blind tasting judged by experts from both the United States and Japan.

The evening also highlighted the growing presence of sake culture beyond Japan, with both Japanese and U.S.-made sakes represented, including selections from local producers such as Brooklyn Kura and Dassai Blue in the Hudson Valley. For guests already familiar with sake, it was a chance to deepen their appreciation. For newcomers, it was a beautifully approachable introduction to the complexity and elegance of the craft.

Of course, the food was a major part of the experience. The Joy of Sake brought together a standout lineup of restaurants, including BondST, Sakagura, Insa, Sake No Hana, Mishik, Towa, Yopparai, Sen Sakana, Rei, Juban, Rule of Thirds, and more. Each restaurant added its own perspective to the evening, creating dishes designed to complement the sake tasting experience.

Highlights included Deviled Egg with Toro Tartar from Sen, Bluefin Tuna & Scallions from Towa, and Akami Zuke from BondST. Other memorable offerings included Hamachi Temaki, King Salmon Crudo, Kakuni Japanese braised pork belly, Broccoli with Tofu Cream & Caviar, and Matcha & Hojicha Tiramisu infused with sake. The result was a tasting experience that felt refined, generous, and deeply connected to Japanese culinary culture.

The atmosphere was one of the best parts of the night. Guests arrived ready to explore, many bringing their own sake cups as encouraged, adding a personal and ceremonial touch to the experience. The room moved with the energy of discovery—people comparing notes, returning to favorite pours, discovering new breweries, and pairing different sakes with each dish.

Founded as a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering appreciation for the ancient craft of sake-making, The Joy of Sake has grown tremendously since its first event in 2001. Its continued expansion reflects the rising appreciation for sake around the world, and its New York edition remains one of the most exciting ways to experience that evolution firsthand.

The event is more than a tasting. It is a celebration of tradition, precision, hospitality, and flavor. From the rare competition-level bottles to the restaurant pairings and the vibrant crowd of sake enthusiasts, the event offered a beautiful reminder of why sake continues to captivate drinkers across cultures and generations.

For anyone who loves Japanese cuisine, fine beverages, or discovering something truly special in New York City, The Joy of Sake is an event worth marking on the calendar.

Golden Hour at One40 Debuts Above FiDi

A new rooftop destination has arrived in the Financial District with the opening of Golden Hour at One40, the outdoor rooftop experience at One40 Rooftop, located on the 20th floor of Club Quarters Hotel at 140 Washington Street.

A new rooftop destination has arrived in the Financial District with the opening of Golden Hour at One40, the outdoor rooftop experience at One40 Rooftop, located on the 20th floor of Club Quarters Hotel at 140 Washington Street.

Officially opening on April 15, Golden Hour at One40 expands the restaurant’s footprint with an open-air rooftop designed for sunset cocktails, skyline views, and a more relaxed way to take in Lower Manhattan from above. Positioned as an extension of the existing restaurant, the new outdoor space blends lounge-style seating, warm materials, natural textures, and greenery to create an atmosphere that feels both elevated and approachable.

The concept is centered around one of New York City’s best moments of the day. As the sun sets over downtown, the rooftop shifts from an easy daytime retreat into an inviting evening destination, pairing panoramic views with cocktails and shareable bites in a setting made for conversation and lingering a little longer.

Inside and out, One40 Rooftop reflects owner Mona Panjwani’s vision for a woman-owned dining destination that feels distinctly New York while remaining warm and social. The restaurant has also introduced a refreshed spring menu under Executive Chef Sebastien Chaoui, whose Modern American approach emphasizes seasonal ingredients and balanced flavors. Menu highlights include Grilled Colossal Prawns, Seared Sea Scallops, roasted beet salad, Duck Confit Pappardelle, and seafood-forward mains like Seared Halibut, Poached Cod, and Seared Black Bass.

Golden Hour at One40 also introduces a focused rooftop-friendly menu and cocktail program. Among the standout offerings is the Golden Hour Martini & Caviar, featuring Kaluga caviar and warm pomme crisps alongside an Altius Martini made with vodka, gin, Italicus bergamot, and pear. Other shareable options include a Deviled Eggs Flight with variations like classic, salmon roe, Iberico, and caviar, along with Fried Oysters served with lemon aioli.

The beverage program, led by Lead Beverage & Wine Director Michael Carroll, complements the rooftop setting with handcrafted cocktails and a globally inspired wine list designed to match the restaurant’s seasonal menu and skyline backdrop. For social coverage, guests can follow @goldenhouratone40 and @one40rooftop.

Designed by Abraham John Architects, the rooftop and interior restaurant make the most of their setting with sweeping views of Lower Manhattan and the Hudson River. The design balances modern architectural lines with softer natural elements, while the interior’s sculptural steel mural ceiling offers a subtle nod to nearby One World Trade Center. The result is a rooftop that feels polished without being overly formal, making it just as fitting for after-work drinks as it is for a longer dinner downtown.

With its new outdoor rooftop, refreshed food and beverage offerings, and dramatic FiDi backdrop, Golden Hour at One40 is stepping into spring as one of Lower Manhattan’s new spots to know.

Skinny Louie Brings More Burgers to NYC

Skinny Louie, the fast-growing smash burger concept that built a cult following in Miami, is making a serious push across New York City.

Skinny Louie, the fast-growing smash burger concept that built a cult following in Miami, is making a serious push across New York City.

After debuting in NoMad in 2025, the brand expanded with a West Village location that opened in March, adding another late-night burger spot to downtown Manhattan. More openings are already in the pipeline, with the Upper East Side expected next, followed by East Village, Penn Station, and Park Slope as Skinny Louie continues to grow its local footprint.

Founded in Miami in 2023 by Gonzalo Rubino and Matias Palloni, Skinny Louie first took off in Wynwood, where lines regularly stretched down the block. Its appeal is rooted in a simple formula: a tight menu, fast service, approachable pricing, and a strong focus on quality. That approach helped the brand grow quickly across South Florida before making its move into New York.

The concept keeps things intentionally straightforward. Skinny Louie’s smash burgers are made with 100% fresh Black Angus beef, seasoned simply with salt and pepper, then cooked on a hot griddle to develop a deeply caramelized crust. Burgers, fries, shakes, and house sauce form the core of the menu, keeping the focus where it belongs.

The burger that has attracted the most attention is the “Very Best Burger,” a double smash burger topped with smoked gouda, truffle aioli, and jalapeño relish. Originally created as a one-off for Burger Bash, it went on to become an off-menu favorite and helped put Skinny Louie on a bigger stage. In 2025, it earned top honors at both the South Beach and New York City Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash events, including the Pat LaFrieda Judges Award.

But after visiting the West Village location, our personal favorite was the Classic Burger ordered double. With American cheese, tomato, lettuce, onions, ketchup, and mustard layered over crisp-edged patties, it delivered exactly what a great smash burger should: simple ingredients, done well, with no extra distractions.

As more locations get ready to open across the city, Skinny Louie is shaping up to be one of the more notable burger expansions in NYC right now. For anyone keeping tabs on the city’s smash burger scene, this is a name worth knowing.

The Consulate and At The Office Opening

One of Murray Hill’s most recognizable corners is entering a new era. On April 17, The Consulate and At the Office are set to open at 160 East 38th Street, transforming the former El Rio Grande space

One of Murray Hill’s most recognizable corners is entering a new era. On April 17, The Consulate and At the Office are set to open at 160 East 38th Street, transforming the former El Rio Grande space into a sprawling dual-concept destination that blends elevated dining with a more playful late-night sports bar energy. The new address marks The Consulate’s expansion into Murray Hill, joining the group’s existing Upper West Side and Midtown locations.

Founded by twin restaurateurs Kiril and Metodija Mihajlov, The Consulate has built a following around its French Modern American style, and the Murray Hill opening looks poised to be one of the neighborhood’s biggest hospitality debuts in years. The 310-seat project pairs the restaurant with At the Office, a new adjoining bar concept designed to take guests from dinner into drinks, game-night energy, and post-work revelry without ever leaving the building.

At The Consulate Murray Hill, the menu from Executive Chef Alan Vargas and Chef de Cuisine Nestor Villafuerte blends French and American influences with a range of offerings designed to move from lighter bites to more indulgent main courses. Raw bar selections like tuna tartare and ceviche sit alongside roasted branzino, short rib cavatelli, and prime steaks, creating a menu that feels equally suited for after-work dinners, date nights, and celebratory evenings out. The beverage program takes a global approach, featuring cocktails like the Jardin with matcha and jalapeño tequila, the Consulate Espresso Martini, and a curated wine list designed to complement both casual and special-occasion dining.

Next door, At the Office brings a more casual and energetic counterpart to the restaurant. Designed for post-work drinks and late-night socializing, the space shifts the mood from polished dinner service into a more playful bar experience. Together, the two venues are meant to function as one seamless destination, allowing guests to move easily between dinner, drinks, and a more lively nightlife atmosphere.

On warmer nights, the venue’s al fresco patios are expected to become a major draw, with seating for upwards of 200 guests on an elevated terrace. That addition gives the project even more impact, turning the corner into a large-scale indoor-outdoor destination just as spring dining season gets underway in the city.

For decades, this address was synonymous with celebration, neighborhood energy, and group nights out. This new chapter from The Consulate Group builds on that legacy while reimagining the space as a more modern hospitality hub. For Murray Hill, it is not just another opening, but a full reinvention of one of the neighborhood’s most familiar corners.

Brunch Gets a Mediterranean Glow-Up at Leonetta, Murray Hill’s Buzziest New Spot

Murray Hill’s dining scene has no shortage of buzzworthy openings, but Leonetta stands out with a brunch menu that captures the warmth, freshness, and soul of the Mediterranean coastline. Designed with seasonal ingredients, traditional techniques, and a modern sensibility, Leonetta’s dishes feel both elevated and comforting—exactly what weekend brunch should be.

Murray Hill’s dining scene has no shortage of buzzworthy openings, but Leonetta stands out with a brunch menu that captures the warmth, freshness, and soul of the Mediterranean coastline. With a culinary program led by Chef Ed Cotton and beverage program from Mark Rancourt, you’re in for a real treat. Designed with seasonal ingredients, traditional techniques, and a modern sensibility, Leonetta’s dishes feel both elevated and comforting—exactly what weekend brunch should be.

The restaurant’s new brunch lineup spans spreads, chilled bites, salads, sandwiches, and weekend-ready specialties like Steak & Eggs Kebab, Babka French Toast, and Eggs Benedict with a Mediterranean twist. We tried the $50 brunch special, which includes two spritzes, black garlic hummus for the table, and two mains. We started with our spritzes and opted for the St. Tropez Spritz, a sunshine-in-a-glass blend of chambray meyer lemon vodka, sevez honey, lavender liqueur, limoncello, and bubbles. The result was a floral, citrusy and refreshing Mediterranean garden party in a glass. The Fancy French Accent was a more luxurious, aromatic spritz combining Jean Luc Pasquet Marie-Framboise, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao Yuzu Late Harvest, Cap Corse Blue, and bubbles. This one is layered and complex, with bright fruit notes and a sophisticated finish. Both cocktails elevated the meal beautifully.

Because of allergies, our server recommended starting with the Baba Ghanoush and fresh pita, and it did not disappoint. It might’ve been our favorite dish we had! For entrées, we ordered the Smoked Salmon & Avocado Toast, built on Pugliese bread and topped with feta, cucumber, radish, and pickled red onion. Fresh, balanced, and hearty without being heavy. Our secondary main was the Wild Mushroom Scramble. Farm eggs cooked soft and creamy with wild mushrooms, black truffle, and sesame crostino—earthy, aromatic, and deeply satisfying.

Beyond brunch, Leonetta also hosts lunch and dinner and offers private dining rooms and cozy event spaces to make it an ideal venue for everything from intimate gatherings to full restaurant buyouts. Downstairs, Leo’s Famous offers an additional space with its own personality. For the holiday season, the restaurant is also presenting a three-course Thanksgiving menu for $115 from 2pm–9pm.

Leonetta has quickly become one of Murray Hill’s standout brunch destinations—not just for its food, but for the entire experience. With bold flavors, thoughtful dishes, excellent cocktails, and an ambiance that transports you straight to the Mediterranean, it’s a must-visit for your next weekend outing and we can’t wait to go back to try more!

Leonetta
181 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10016
Lunch: 11:30am–3:45pm (7 days a week)
Dinner: 5pm–11pm (7 days a week)
Brunch: Saturday & Sunday, 11am–4pm

A Dinner with sAINt JHN and WhyHunger

Last Thursday, in support of global nonprofit WhyHunger, artist and rapper sAINt JHN hosted a pop-up dinner for WhyHunger’s Hungerthon as part of a fundraising endeavor that aims to confront the root causes of hunger in America and give access to nutritious food for all.

He may not be a Saint according to the church, but Grammy Award-winning rapper and artist sAINt JHN is sure living up to his adopted stage name. Last Thursday, in support of global nonprofit WhyHunger, the artist hosted a pop-up dinner for the Hungerthon as part of a fundraising endeavor that aims to confront the root causes of hunger in America and give access to nutritious food for all.

Photos by Brandon Vallejo

Held at New York City’s Phoenix Palace, the event saw a myriad of high-profile guests including Yola, Bloody Osiris, Ilfenesh Hadera, Emory Jones, GIGGS, Dre Hayes, Rachel Jackson, and more, all ready to dine on a menu that drew on sAINt JHN’s Guyanese heritage: eggplant and roti appetizers, a fried-rice main, and Guyana’s national dish, pepperpot.

Before dinner, however, sAINt JHN took the time to share some words from the heart. “If I can help feed one person--then they can feed one person. That’s the mission. All I gotta do is help one person.” The rapper also designed limited-edition merchandise available at Hungerthon.org, with all sales acting as a donation for the charity.

WhyHunger’s 40th Hungerthon campaign kicked off on November 3rd. The event unites radio partners SiriusXM and iHeartRadio New York, artists including Bruce Springsteen and Yoko Ono Lennon, and thousands of supporters across the U.S who all share a vision of a hunger-free future.

A Slice of Paris on Smith Street: Atelier Ariana Charms Carroll Gardens

Atelier Ariana , founded by Chef Ariana Barkin, a pastry chef with over 15 years of experience in French pâtisserie from Detroit to Paris, is a Parisian-style café and pâtisserie, which recently celebrated its first anniversary.

Nestled on a sunny corner in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, Atelier Ariana is the kind of café that immediately draws you in. Founded by Chef Ariana Barkin, a pastry chef with over 15 years of experience in French pâtisserie from Detroit to Paris, the bakery is the realization of her career-long dream—a place where she can share her craft with the community that inspired it. After years working in acclaimed kitchens such as Hôtel Grand Amour and Palais Royal in Paris, Ariana returned to New York to open this Parisian-style café and pâtisserie, which recently celebrated its first anniversary. The space, intimate and light-filled with mosaic tile floors and marble tables, channels the effortless charm of a Parisian corner café, now perfectly at home in Brooklyn.

During our visit, we sampled some of Atelier Ariana’s current seasonal highlights—starting with the Pumpkin Spice Latte and a beautifully balanced cappuccino, both made with locally roasted Parlor Coffee. Each sip was warm, fragrant, and comforting—perfect companions to the pastry lineup that followed. Ariana’s Fig & Vanilla Goutte, the October viennoiserie special, was a standout: her signature croissant dough layered with housemade fig jam, vanilla pastry cream, and topped with fresh fig, all shaped into an elegant teardrop. The new Croque Croissant, a savory twist on the classic croque monsieur, was equally irresistible—flaky, buttery layers filled with melted cheese was our favorite bite of the day and the dish to go back for. We finished with a slice of her tender Plum Cake, delicately sweet and spiced, embodying the café’s dedication to using the freshest seasonal ingredients.

For those looking to experience a true taste of Paris without crossing the Atlantic, Atelier Ariana offers an experience that’s as thoughtful as it is delicious. The café is open Wednesday through Sunday, perfect for grabbing breakfast and coffee on the way to the subway or for trying a seasonal treat on a leisure weekend. Chef Ariana also leads monthly baking classes which is a treat itself. Don’t miss her seasonal pies for Thanksgiving—Pumpkin Pie with butterscotch and Apple Crumble Pie are both available for pre-order.

Josh McBride's Annual Bday 2025

Taking center stage and setting the tone ahead of famed New York Fashion Week, TV personality Josh McBride celebrated his annual birthday bash with a star-studded extravaganza that quickly became the weekend’s must-attend event.

Taking center stage and setting the tone ahead of famed New York Fashion Week, TV personality Josh McBride celebrated his annual birthday bash with a star-studded extravaganza that quickly became the weekend’s must-attend event.

On Friday, September 5, 2025, McBride transformed NYC’s HK Hall into a dazzling playground of fashion, music, and celebrity energy. Guests dressed in sleek black and bold pink, the night’s official theme, creating a vibrant sea of style as more than 400 attendees packed the venue. Signature cocktails from Ja Rule’s Amber & Opal and The Baker Company’s Espresso Martinis flowed throughout the night, while Baked by Melissa added a sweet touch with their signature treats.

As the lights dimmed and the stage came alive, powered by DJ Nyce, the evening’s tradition of surprise performances began with Nina Sky, whose electrifying 8:15 p.m. set sent the crowd into full party mode. The energy only built from there when international chart-topper Kevin Lyttle took the stage at 9:15 p.m., delivering his global smash “Turn Me On” alongside other fan favorites that had the crowd singing word for word. By the time R&B superstar Bobby V closed the night with a soulful 10:15 p.m. performance, the venue was buzzing with energy—proving once again that McBride knows how to throw a party that leaves a mark.

The red carpet and dance floor alike were filled with familiar faces from television, music, and pop culture. Peppermint of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Lateshia Pearson of Belle Collective, RIP Micheals of Wild ’N Out, psychic medium Matt Fraser of Meet the Frasers, actor Alex Garfin of Superman and Lois, and Love Is Blind’s Clay Gravesande were among the many personalities spotted celebrating alongside McBride.

Over the years, McBride’s birthday has grown into one of New York’s most buzzed-about annual events. Last year’s celebration at Nebula drew surprise sets from Yung Joc, Lil Mama, Ryan Toby, and Yung Wylin. Past editions have welcomed stars like Ja Rule, Mya, Tiffany Pollard, Teresa Giudice, and Dorinda Medley. With this year’s blowout at HK Hall, McBride raised the bar once again, solidifying his legacy as a host whose parties rival the very best of New York nightlife.

Big Deal Speakeasy Casino's 10th Anniversary Party

The Big Deal Speakeasy Casino (1 E 28th St) marked its 10th anniversary with a glamorous celebration that transported guests straight back to the roaring 1920s.

The Big Deal Speakeasy Casino (1 E 28th St) marked its 10th anniversary with a glamorous celebration that transported guests straight back to the roaring 1920s. Hidden behind an inconspicuous freight elevator door in NoMad, the venue opened into an opulent speakeasy adorned with velvet seating, casino tables, and the smooth sounds of live jazz setting the tone for the night.

The evening wasn’t just about the ambiance—it was a celebration of the games that have kept New Yorkers coming back for over a decade. Guests crowded around blackjack and craps tables, guided by professional dealers who offered insider tips and tricks. Chips were cashed in, bold bets were made, and cheers erupted at every win, creating an atmosphere that was equal parts exhilarating and sophisticated.

Adding to the immersive experience were craft cocktails courtesy of Broken Shed Vodka and Rosaluna Mezcal. Glasses clinked and conversations flowed as the speakeasy’s signature mix of mystery and elegance carried through every detail of the evening.

At the heart of the celebration was founder Wendy Rubin—a serial entrepreneur, filmmaker, and creator whose vision has redefined interactive entertainment in New York City. In 2015, Rubin opened Big Deal Speakeasy Casino following the success of her pioneering Big Deal Casino Academy, the state’s first and only licensed dealer school. By day, the space serves as a training ground for future casino dealers, preparing them for careers in the industry. By night, it transforms into a glittering Prohibition-style event venue, making it the perfect setting for private parties, milestone celebrations, and unforgettable nights of entertainment.

Ten years on, the Big Deal Speakeasy Casino remains an unmatched destination for high-energy fun. The anniversary party not only honored a decade of unforgettable nights but also reinforced the venue’s place as a one-of-a-kind gem in New York’s nightlife scene.

Historic Glamour, Modern Soul: Inside The Paris Cafe’s Dazzling Revival

After a meticulous restoration, The Paris Café has officially reopened down the street from South Street Seaport, and it’s a must visit.

The Paris Cafe Exterior

After a meticulous restoration, The Paris Café has officially reopened down the street from South Street Seaport, and it’s a must visit. First established in 1873 and once frequented by icons like Teddy Roosevelt and Thomas Edison, this legendary landmark has been lovingly reimagined by Legeard Studio and OPUS Hospitality as a brasserie-meets-jazz-lounge that pulses with both heritage and modern touches. The reopening marks a bold return for one of the city’s oldest restaurants—now a portal to Parisian charm, live music, and a beautifully executed French menu.

Tucked along the cobblestones of South Street, The Paris Café immediately transports you from NYC. The historic façade remains intact, but step inside and you’re swept into a cinematic swirl of Belle Époque elegance.

Interior Bar

The interiors are a feast for the eyes: hand-plastered walls, custom mosaic floors, and a gleaming pewter-topped bar that anchors the room like a vintage postcard come to life. Velvet banquettes surround a jazz stage at the center, promising late-night allure as sultry as the lighting itself. It's easy to forget you're steps from the Seaport and not tucked into a golden-hour bistro on the Left Bank.

Our meal began with the bread service, and what a beginning it was, served warm with butter from Normandy that deserved a spotlight of its own. We also indulged in the Panier de Gougères: delicate, cheesy puffs that dissolved into pure decadence. For starters, we shared the Foie Gras Terrine with housemade brioche—slightly sweet, almost like cornbread—rich, silky, and indulgent. The Endive Salade was a study in balance: crisp, creamy, and punctuated with candied walnuts and Roquefort. But the true standout was the St. Jacques à la Paris Café—perfectly roasted diver scallops served in stunning shell presentations, topped with caper butter and crispy shallot breadcrumbs. Each bite was a buttery, texture-rich triumph.

First Course

To sip, we chose two standout cocktails that matched the evening’s mood. The Soleil Spritz, made with prosecco, watermelon, Cap Corse, and lavender cordial, was a vibrant and refreshing ode to summer. The St. Germain des Prés, a mix of gin, strawberry, elderflower liqueur, and cucumber tonic, felt like a floral breeze in a glass. For mains, the Loup de Mer en Papillote impressed with its delicate texture and the layered flavors of tomato, fennel, lemon, and a whisper of Pernod, the French anise liquor that added just enough intrigue.

But the dish we’ll be dreaming about for weeks? The Steak Frites au Poivre, cooked to a perfect medium-rare and bathed in a peppercorn sauce so divine we considered asking for it by the bottle.

We ended on a sweet note with the Clafoutis Nectarine, a warm, custardy delight made all the more elegant by the Cognac Crème Anglaise poured tableside. Though tempted by the towering La Révolution, a showstopping selection of boutique pastries meant for two to four, we decided to save that indulgence for a fall visit (bathing suit season, after all!).

Steak Frites au Poivre

As the sun dips and the chandeliers begin to glow, Paris Café After Dark comes alive. Starting this September, weekend nights will feature live jazz, turning this downtown gem into a sultry, sonic sanctuary. Whether you’re in search of an intimate dinner, a spontaneous nightcap, or a new go-to brunch spot (hello, Bastille Day brunch and DJ sets), The Paris Café is ready to charm.

We already can’t wait to return. For reservations, menus, and upcoming entertainment schedules, visit pariscafenyc.com.

More Than Just a Glamorous Gathering

Beyond the brand activations, celeb sightings, and champagne toasts, the heart of the event remained rooted in its mission: to support cancer research in memory of Bobby Zarin. Jill’s personal story has always been at the center of the luncheon, and each year she continues to grow the event’s legacy—turning personal loss into a platform for generosity and change.

In a summer filled with high-profile events, the Luxury Luncheon by Ticket2Events stood out not just for its VIP guest list or Instagrammable backdrops—but for its fusion of purpose, polish, and personality. Whether sipping cocktails in the Premier Lounge or walking away with a bag filled with this season’s most coveted products, guests left feeling celebrated—and inspired.

If this year’s edition was any indication, Jill Zarin’s Luxury Luncheon remains the definitive standard for how to do summer in the Hamptons: stylishly, generously, and with heart.

Strong Cocktails, Live Jazz, and Brunch by the Sea at Breva

On a perfect summer Sunday, we made our way to Breva Brighton Beach—a modern brasserie tucked just off the boardwalk—for what turned out to be one of the city’s most memorable brunch experiences.

On a perfect summer Sunday, we made our way to Breva Brighton Beach—a modern brasserie tucked just off the boardwalk—for what turned out to be one of the city’s most memorable brunch experiences. With live jazz floating through the air, a salty ocean breeze in the background, and vodka spritzes on deck, Breva delivered coastal elegance with a local soul.

This wasn’t just any brunch—it was part of Breva’s Sunday Jazz Brunch series, running now through Labor Day. From the moment we stepped onto their 110-seat patio, the vibe was set: jazz musicians grooving by the sea, cocktails flowing, and an inviting menu of fresh, seasonal fare.

We kicked things off with a trio of standout starters: smoky Charred Eggplant, crisp and golden Crispy Calamari, and pillowy Potato Dumplings that delivered on comfort and depth. From there, the Blanco Pizza—rich with cheese and a crisp crust—made for the perfect shareable dish. The Wild Mushroom Tagliatelle was earthy and luscious, while the Black Angus Skirt Steak & Eggs brought satisfying brunch heft with chimichurri and crispy potatoes.

To sip, we tried the Mai Tai, The Jungle Bird, and the Hibiscus Margarita—all beautifully crafted and strong, yet balanced. The bar program at Breva isn’t playing around. We ended on a refreshing note with a scoop of Berries Sorbet, the perfect palate cleanser for a hot afternoon.

With the backing of Apicii Hospitality and a kitchen led by Chef Travis McGinty, Breva isn’t just another beachfront restaurant—it’s a destination in itself. Whether you're here for jazz, brunch, or just the ocean views, Breva offers an elevated, distinctly New York take on beachside dining.

Reservations available via OpenTable or visit brevabrightonbeach.com for details. For events and updates, follow @brevabrightonbeach on Instagram.

Tucked into an unassuming restaurant front in East Williamsburg, Please Tell Me is the kind of spot you wander into on a lazy afternoon and never want to leave. Inspired by Japanese listening rooms and Brazilian flavors, this intimate bar and restaurant offers a soulful blend of sound, food, and community. Founded by neighbors and DJs Austin Woolridge and Eric Griego, the space has quickly become a local favorite since opening in Fall 2023, thanks to its natural wines, curated DJ sets powered by a top-tier HiFi system, and bold Brazilian bites from Chef David Sedycias through its culinary partnership with Mané co-created by Chef David and Alex Lee. A Mediterranean-minimalist interior sets the vibe, while Beverage Director Kiara De Leon brings tropical flair and Dominican spirit to a cocktail menu that’s as playful as it is polished.

We kicked things off with the mané mai thai, a signature cocktail made with Ten to One white and dark rum, dry curaçao, macadamia orgeat, lime, and a coconut whip cream finish. Equal parts sweet, strong, and unexpected, it was the perfect drink to match the bar’s vibe. To eat, we tried the queijo coalho grilled cheese skewer with honey, oregano, and chili oil, no bread needed or missed. Then came the batatas fritas, a genius mix of Yukon and sweet potato fries tossed with hot dog ends and served with malagueta pepper ketchup and aioli. Think street food with a gourmet twist. But the dish that stole the show? The grilled kale, charred to perfection and served with Brazilian honey and a luscious brazil nut/cashew cream foam. It was comforting and refined, almost like a creamed kale reimagined.

Enjoying sun at Please Tell Me’s wine window

No trip to Please Tell Me is complete without stopping by the wine window, which has become a defining feature of the space, and the first of its kind in New York. Inspired by the buchette del vino of Florence, Italy, this charming window opens up in warmer months for guests to order glasses of wine on the go. The selection spans far beyond the usual suspects, with natural wines from Mexico, Japan, and Slovenia via Zev Rovine Selections. There’s something undeniably delightful about receiving your drink through a tiny window, then sipping it on the sidewalk like it’s a secret neighborhood ritual, one that connects strangers with a shared love of sunshine and bubbly.

DJ booth at Please Tell Me

We had an absolute blast at Please Tell Me, from the playful bites and bold cocktails to the unbeatable energy that fills every corner of the space. It’s the kind of place that lingers with you long after you leave, and honestly, we’re already making up excuses to go back (do we need a reason?). Whether you’re there for brunch, beats, or just a glass of wine from the window, it’s a guaranteed good time.
