Crystal Springs Resort was the perfect backdrop for an indulgent escape to the New Jersey Wine & Food Festival 2026. Surrounded by sweeping mountain and valley views, the property gave the weekend an easy sense of calm before the food and wine festivities began.
Our one-bedroom suite at Grand Cascades Lodge added to that feeling immediately. The suite was spacious and comfortable, with a gorgeous balcony overlooking the landscape. Thoughtful conveniences like a stove and refrigerator made it easy to settle in, while staying right at Grand Cascades Lodge kept us in the center of the festival experience throughout the weekend.
Champagne Reception
Champagne Reception
The first night kicked off with the Champagne Reception, setting the tone for a celebration full of incredible dishes, wine, and hospitality. From there, we headed into the Wine Cellar Dinner with world-renowned chef Marco Pierre White. The evening was intimate and special, especially knowing that Marco had personally prepared each meal and spent 14 hours cooking for the dinner. Even after all that time in the kitchen, he kept the atmosphere relaxed and eventually joined guests, chatting late into the evening. The wine pairings were excellent, the courses were beautifully prepared, and each plate showcased true culinary mastery.

The next morning started in one of the most unexpected ways: Goat Yoga. A recurring resort activity, Goat Yoga brought a fun and lighthearted break to the schedule. It was the perfect reminder that the festival was not only about fine dining and wine, but also about enjoying everything Crystal Springs Resort has to offer.

Marco Signing Books
After Goat Yoga, we attended A Conversation & Book Signing with Marco Pierre White, where guests had the chance to meet him and talk with him directly. It was a great continuation of the previous night and a standout highlight for anyone who appreciates culinary legends.
Lunch that day was the New Jersey Culinary Stars Lunch, and it became one of the most personal moments of the festival. Hosted with New Jersey Monthly Senior Editor Jacqueline Mroz, the lunch celebrated the magazine’s 40 Best Restaurants List and brought together an incredible lineup of chefs, including Dan Richer of Razza, Tom Silvestri of ORA, Sean Yan of Ram & Rooster, Matt Laurich of Restaurant Latour, Florian Wehrli of Restaurant Latour, and Emily Downs of Emily’s Hearth.

What made the lunch especially special was how intimate and interactive it was. The chefs came around to each table, spoke with guests, shared more about their dishes, and helped everyone feel more connected to what they were tasting. Every course was delicious, but being able to meet the chefs behind the plates added something truly meaningful to the afternoon.
Meeting mini pigs
Later, we attended Little Pours, Big Flavor: WhistlePig and Mini Piggies, which brought a playful and charming twist to the day. Meeting the little pigs was a fun break between all the tastings and gave guests one more moment to smile about.
The grand finale was the Main Event: VIP Grand Tasting, and it truly lived up to its name. Room after room was packed with tastings, drinks, and culinary surprises. The event also brought out many top chefs, including Chef Morimoto and Robbie Felice of Pasta Ramen, adding even more excitement to an already unforgettable tasting experience. Everywhere we turned, there was a new dish to try, a new pour to enjoy, and a new reason to keep exploring. By the end, our stomachs were filled to the brim, but in the best possible way.
The New Jersey Wine & Food Festival 2026 at Crystal Springs Resort was more than a food event. It was a full getaway filled with luxury, laughter, scenic views, talented chefs, creative programming, and nonstop flavor. The resort itself played a huge part in making the stay feel complete, giving guests a beautiful place to relax, recharge, and enjoy so much beyond the festival programming. It was the kind of culinary experience that shows why the best festivals combine great cuisine with unforgettable moments.

Exploring the Charms of Asbury Park, NJ
Living in New York City has its perks, but sometimes, you just need a break from the bustling streets, crowded subways, and never-ending energy.
Living in New York City has its perks, but sometimes, you just need a break from the bustling streets, crowded subways, and never-ending energy. So, I decided to escape the concrete jungle for a relaxing weekend at the Jersey Shore. My destination? The charming and eclectic town of Asbury Park, New Jersey. Just an hour and a half drive from Manhattan, Asbury Park is the perfect spot for a quick retreat—and it certainly did not disappoint.
A Stay at the Luxurious Asbury Ocean Club
First stop: checking into the Asbury Ocean Club, a stunning oceanfront hotel that feels like a dream. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the soothing sounds of the ocean and a chic, laid-back vibe that set the tone for the weekend. The rooms are sleek and modern, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering sweeping views of the Atlantic. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring, with a gorgeous pool, a calming spa, and the kind of service that makes you feel like royalty. The place is frequented by celebrities, so you might be lucky to catch them.
Paranormal Vibes at the Paranormal Museum
My first adventure was a visit to the Paranormal Museum, which is one of those quirky, can’t-miss spots Asbury Park is known for. Located inside Paranormal Books & Curiosities, this small museum is packed with exhibits on paranormal legends, hauntings, and all things spooky. I learned about the Caludron Lady, ghost sightings, and even browsed some creepy relics that gave me chills. Our tour guide CJ was an expert and kept us on our toes the entire time. If you're a fan of the strange and unexplained, this museum is a must-visit. I even caught myself thinking about some of the exhibits long after leaving, wondering if I truly believed in the paranormal by the end of it. Whether or not you're a believer, this place is a fun and eerie way to kick off the weekend.
Nostalgic Fun at Silverball Retro Arcade
After getting a taste of the supernatural, I was ready for something a little more lighthearted. Enter the Silverball Retro Arcade, an absolute paradise for anyone who loves classic pinball machines and vintage arcade games. From Pac-Man to Skeeball, I spent hours getting lost in nostalgia, competing with friends, and feeling like a kid again. The arcade even has an impressive collection of vintage pinball machines that date back decades. It was the perfect way to bring some old-school fun to the day!
Cocktails & Star Sightings at Salvation Rooftop
As the sun began to set, it was time to head to the Salvation Rooftop, a chic bar located at The Asbury Hotel. With sweeping views of the town and the ocean, this rooftop is the perfect spot for cocktails while watching the sunset. I sipped on a beautifully crafted cocktail and soaked in the laid-back atmosphere. To top it off, I had an exciting celebrity encounter—I got to meet Dolores Catania from The Real Housewives of New Jersey! She was gracious and approachable, chatting with guests and even snapping a few photos.
Delicious Eats: Asbury Diner & Talula’s
No weekend getaway is complete without great food, and Asbury Park certainly delivers. For breakfast, I stopped by the Asbury Diner, a cozy and classic spot known for its hearty meals and retro atmosphere. I indulged in a delicious stack of pancakes with all the fixings, the perfect fuel for a day of exploring.
Later, I had dinner at Talula’s, a trendy restaurant known for its wood-fired pizzas and creative dishes made with local ingredients. I tried their famous sourdough pizza, and it was everything I had hoped for—crispy, chewy, and packed with flavor. The vibe at Talula’s is relaxed and welcoming, making it the perfect place for a casual yet delicious meal.
Exploring Local Treasures: Farmers Market & Antique Emporium
In between meals and activities, I made sure to check out some of Asbury Park’s local gems. The Asbury Farmers Market was a delightful stop, offering a variety of fresh produce, handmade goods, and local specialties. It was a great way to connect with the community and pick up some unique souvenirs.
I also stumbled upon a shop called the Antique Emporium, and let me tell you, it’s a treasure hunter’s dream! This quirky store is filled with antiques, vintage finds, and all sorts of eclectic items. Whether you’re into retro furniture, old records, or rare collectibles, this place has it all. I could have spent hours browsing through the endless shelves of hidden gems. I eneded up purchasing a vintage Japenese painting from the 50s and it’s already hung on my wall.
After a weekend filled with fun activities, great food, and even a celebrity encounter, I left Asbury Park feeling refreshed and recharged. The town has such a unique mix of old-school charm, artsy culture, and beach town relaxation. It’s the perfect escape for anyone looking to unwind, explore, and make some unforgettable memories.
If you’re looking for a quick getaway from New York City, I highly recommend giving Asbury Park a try. With its vibrant energy, cool spots to explore, and laid-back beach vibes, it might just become your new favorite weekend destination!

Visitors can sway to the melodies of trumpets, trombones, clarinets, and more, reveling in the timeless allure of live jazz in its purest form.
3. Eat (and drink!) at Brewery Saint X & Devil Moon BBQ
New Orleans may not be the first city to come to mind when you think of BBQ… but we are in the south, and they sure know how to throw down! Devil Moon BBQ combines Southern tradition with bold flavors, serving up succulent smoked meats like brisket, ribs, and pulled pork infused with their signature house-made sauces. The relaxed, rustic atmosphere and friendly staff add to the charm of this barbecue joint, making it a must-visit for aficionados of slow-cooked, tender barbecue delights.
Even better, the restaurant shares its space with Brewery Saint X, a modern southern brewery. I am, admittedly, not so much of a beer drinker, but their wide variety and exceptional selection of handcrafted brews is sure to please even those who usually prefer cocktails or wine. We had the pleasure of tasting some truly unique and delicious sours, some more traditional ales and lagers, each crafted with precision and passion. The familial energy and desire to share, educate, and get feedback from their customers is truly emblematic of what I think of when I think of Southern Hospitality. Visitors can enjoy guided tours to witness the brewing process firsthand and savor flights of their finely crafted beers while soaking in the brewery's industrial-chic ambiance.

This unassuming spot serves up iconic dishes like the rabbit and sausage jambalaya, seafood gumbo, and their famous fried chicken. Locals and visitors alike flock here for a taste of genuine New Orleans flavors amidst a vibrant atmosphere. Dubai is a city that truly needs no introduction. Known for its glitz, glamour, and larger-than-life persona, this vibrant metropolis in the United Arab Emirates is a traveler's paradise. Whether you're looking to explore the city's iconic landmarks, soak up the sun on its pristine beaches, or indulge in some serious retail therapy, Dubai has something for everyone. In this article, we'll take a closer look at some of the top things to do in Dubai and why it's a must-visit destination for any avid traveler. After a 10-day trip to the glorious city, we have compiled a list of the top 10 things you must do in Dubai.
1. Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain Show
Dubai views
Fountain show from the boat
Views from our Hotel
One of the first things that comes to mind when people think of Dubai is the world-famous Burj Khalifa, which stands at a towering height of 828 meters. A visit to the observation deck on the 124th floor is an absolute must for anyone visiting Dubai. From here, you'll get a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city, as well as the surrounding desert and coastline. We recommend going to the Burj during sunrise to skip the line and the hot afternoon sun.
The Dubai Fountain is a popular attraction located in the heart of Downtown Dubai, right under the iconic Burj Khalifa. The fountain show runs daily, starts in the afternoon, and continues until late evening, with performances every 30 minutes. Watching the Dubai Fountain show is a must-see attraction in Dubai, and it's free of charge. You can view the fountain show from various vantage points around the fountain, or you can book a ticket on a nearby boat tour to get a closer look at the fountain's spectacular display. We highly recommend that you rent a boat. It is an extra-special way to see the fountains! You get a little boat ride around the lake, which provides lots of photo opportunities of the Burj Khalifa. Then, just before the show starts, the boat stops, giving you an amazing view of the show.
2. Dubai Safari
Sandboarding at the desert
Hot Air Ballon over Dubai dessert
Entrance to our camp
Henna painting
Dubai is home to a variety of desert safari experiences that allow visitors to explore the vast expanse of the desert and experience the traditional Bedouin culture. There are several companies that offer desert safari experiences in Dubai, with a range of different activities and packages to choose from.
Typically, a Dubai desert safari experience will involve a 4x4 dune bashing ride, which takes you on a thrilling and bumpy ride through the sand dunes. After the dune bashing, you'll have the opportunity to try sandboarding, which is similar to snowboarding but on the sand dunes. For those seeking a more adventurous experience, you can also book a quad bike or dune buggy ride in the desert, or even try hot air ballooning over the sand dunes.
You'll then be taken to a desert camp, where you can enjoy a traditional Arabic buffet dinner, live entertainment, and activities such as henna painting, camel rides, and falconry demonstrations. There may also be opportunities to dress up in traditional Arabic clothing and take photos. It was one of our best days there.
3. The Palm Jumeirah
Jet Skiing at Burj Al Arab
View from Top of the Palm observation deck
Saffron Buffet at Atlantis
Another must-see landmark in Dubai is the iconic Palm Jumeirah, an artificial island that's shaped like a palm tree. This man-made marvel is home to some of the city's most luxurious hotels and resorts, including the famous Atlantis, The Palm. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk, relax on one of the island's many private beaches, or enjoy a thrilling waterpark experience at Aquaventure.
We highly recommend you do a jet ski tour around the island. We chose Nemo WaterSports ($150 per hour per jet ski) and had the best time. During our stops, we had full-on photo shoots where our guide took photos and videos of us, which he sent to us when we returned, also complimentary. It was a great way to see the island, especially since I wanted to see Burj Al Arab (7 Star Hotel) up close.
For dinner, we booked a reservation at Saffron Restaurant at Atlantis, The Palm. This was one of the best meals we have eaten in Dubai. There was a wide selection of food, with over 20 live cooking stations. The selection and quality would rival any restaurant in the world. The sushi, Peking duck, and lobster stations were worth the price of admission alone.
4. Global Village
There are ballon vendors everywhere
Drum show in the middle of the square
Pakistan pavilion
Global Village is a seasonal attraction that operates from November to April each year and features pavilions and exhibits from countries around the world. The Global Village is designed to showcase the diversity of cultures and traditions from different countries. It features various pavilions, each representing a specific country or region, which are decorated with traditional architecture, art, and crafts. Visitors can explore these pavilions and experience the food, music, dance, and customs of different countries.
In addition to the cultural exhibits, Dubai Global Village also hosts a variety of entertainment shows, including concerts, street performances, and circus acts. There are also carnival games, amusement rides, and shopping opportunities, with vendors selling products ranging from clothing to handicrafts.
We were pleasantly surprised by how much fun this place was. It was overwhelming in a good way. We walked around for about 5 hours and still did not see half of all the stalls.
5. Miracle Garden
Emirates place covered in flowers
Flower teddy bear
Flower Castle
The Dubai Miracle Garden is a flower garden that opened its doors on Valentine's Day 2013. With over 250 million plants and over 50 million flowers, it is the largest natural flower garden in the world and covers over 72,000 square meters.
The miracle garden is stunning, brimming with vibrant flowers, and generally only accessible in the winter. Huge models of flowery dancing women, castles, penguins, horses, and the Smurfs' town, which seems like it sprang out of a fairy tale, are just a few fantastic additions to the beauty. The size and scale of the gardens are pretty impressive; we loved the flower-covered Emirates airplane and castle. It’s a nice enough place to wander around for a couple of hours and try to go early to avoid the crowds
6. Dubai Mall
Dubai Mall Waterfall
Dubai Mall
Shops at the Souks
For those looking to indulge in some retail therapy, Dubai has no shortage of shopping options. The Dubai Mall, one of the largest shopping centers in the world, boasts over 1,200 stores, an indoor theme park, restaurants, and an aquarium with over 33,000 marine animals. Massive would be an understatement. A colossal structure, making it worthy of being right next to the Burj Khalifa. You can't visit the world's tallest building without stepping foot inside the world's largest mall. From upscale dining to quick food, every possible type of cuisine is available. Restaurants can be found both within and outside the mall, where you can take in the scenery and watch the amazing fountain show. It's hard to name a shopping brand that's not present here. But unfortunately, it won't come cheap. Since everything here is of the finest quality, the prices may seem a little over the top. Just know, you'd spend quite a lot if you were planning on going on a shopping spree.
If you're looking for a more traditional shopping experience, head to the bustling souks in the old part of the city, where you'll find a vast array of textiles, spices, and other exotic goods.
7. Expo City Dubai
Mobility Pavilion
Vision Pavilion
Women’s Pavilion
Surreal
The bad news is that most of the pavilions are now closed except for four (Women’s, Sustainability, Mobility, and Vision). The good news is that the four pavilions, along with other attractions, still make Expo City a worthwhile visit. As the exhibition ended in March 2022, the area is essentially deserted, giving you the impression that you have the site to yourself to explore. There are still free buggy rides to go around, which is an amazing service since the whole place is huge. The place is very stunning after dark when it is lit up. You will learn a few things and see some spectacular futuristic marvels on this day trip, which should not be too far from Downtown Dubai.

The New York Times Travel Show - 2020
Have you ever travelled the world in one day? Well realistically, you can't travel all the way around the world in a day on a commercial airline. However, in one day, you can definitely learn a whole bunch of new things about those places to plan for future trips.
Attracting more than 35,000 attendees and with over 700 exhibitors from more than 175 countries, right at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, The New York Times Travel Show is the largest travel trade and consumer show in North America.
An ultimate travel and tourism event aiming at promoting the tourism industries worldwide. This event was a must for anyone who loves traveling and exploring the beauty of nature. It also sponsored more than 100 cultural presentations given by professionals to promote worldwide travel agencies and cultures.
The first station I visited was the “Travel Seminars.” I attended different talks by travel connoisseurs. Seth Kugel, Journalist, Travel Writer and previous New York Times Frugal Traveler, discussed the different ways to travel sustainably without spending a fortune. As we know, sustainable travel has always been associated with luxury travel: high-end resorts, fancy farm-to-table restaurants, trains and hybrid vehicles. Kugel explained the opposite, mentioning the different ways to travel sustainably without incurring additional costs, and sometimes even for a lower cost.
“Travel Writing and Photography in 2020: Perspectives From three Experts” is another discussion I really enjoyed. Panelists Max Hartshorne, editor at GoNOMAD.com, Paul Shoul, Travel Photographer and Erik Trinidad, Video Producer, provided tips and advice about the travel publishing market, both online and print. Whether new to travel, writing, or already a blogger, they gave tips about getting published, shooting better photos and editing engaging videos to enhance your stories.
Next station was “Taste of the World.'' That was a good one! I got the opportunity to taste Costa Ricca’s best ground coffee, India’s most delicious samosa, Switzerland’s best cheese, and Brazil’s best cocktail.
So if you’re in the mood for a new vacation, a foodie trip in Spain or France, or even just inspiration for a local weekend trip, check out the New York Times Travel Show for lots of ideas and information pertaining to any sort of travel.
Orchid Evenings at The New York Botanical Garden
It’s coming up on a year since the theatrical release of Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians, but the CRA hype is still going strong. Singapore has leaped about 10 places on everyone’s “must visit” list, and the film’s one of a kind wedding has inspired a barrage of copycats. But perhaps the most cultural of the film’s many threads of influence can be found at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. This year, until April 28th, The New York Botanical Gardens will be home to an Orchid Show inspired by the movie’s glamorous setting: Singapore.
Even without all the CRA hype, it makes perfect sense that Singapore would be the inspiration for an Orchid Show. After all, the country is known as the “City in a Garden.” And it’s official flower is an Orchid. It’s a near perfect match.
Still, the process of putting together an Orchid show is no easy one. In order to ensure that the orchids would survive in the chilly March weather, the famed Enid A. Haupt conservatory had to crank up the temperature in order to replicate Singapore’s signature tropical weather. And the orchids themselves had to be flown in from all around the world -- not only from Singapore, but Australia and Madagascar. The amount of planning and planting that goes into organizing a botanical show at the horticultural center of the United States is frankly, astounding.
But, in true NYBG fashion -- and CRA fashion -- everything of course turned out beautiful. In addition to the classic Singaporean supertrees and arches, more than 6,000 orchids were on display in the conservatory -- from the petite “Dancing Lady” orchid, to the vibrant “Vanda Awkafina” orchid, which was named in honor of CRA star Awkafina -- the first time the garden has ever named an orchid after a public figure. The beauty of the exhibit cannot be lost on anyone: on a Saturday night, hundreds of people packed into the gardens, taking picture after picture of the orchids in full bloom.
So, if you’re looking to take a trip to Singapore without dropping a thousand bucks on a flight, take a train uptown to the Gardens. The Orchid Show is currently on display, and will be there until April 28th.
Destinations in Paradise
If you escaped the NYC winter and ventured into the small venue on Lispenard street on January 26th 2019, you would have been met by a hula girl and surfer dude playing with a beach ball and posing by the front door with warm smiles. A DJ in the corner of the room blasted techno music and a slide show of luxurious homes and beaches played on the back wall as a handful of writers, bloggers and marketing strategists trickled in from the cold. Servers offered juicy fried shrimp and other hors d’oeuvres to the guests. The event had specialty themed cocktails, such as Tropical Rum Punch (Big Island, Hawaii), Premium Margaritas (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico), and locally sourced fine wine from the Mendocino region. And to top it all off, a Photo Booth with fun accessories was available for guests to take silly photos.
The event was hosted by David Appel, Tara Dekel and Owen Cohen as a “coming out party” for their luxury travel company, Destinations in Paradise. The three retired entrepreneurs go to sites in Cabo, Mexico, Big Island, Hawaii, and Mendocino, California and refurbish homes for vacationers to rent out. The sensational villas feature exceptional, modern architectural design and glamorous landscapes for a lifetime getaway.
Their goal is for guests to feel pampered in these upscale homes throughout their stay. What makes this business unique is that these sites are, as Cohen says, “off the books”. They are in private areas that allow guests to have a luxurious experience in solitude and take a break from the outside world. It is for “people who want a little more privacy”, Appel explains. Additionally, several of the homes have special attractions. For example, Appel and Cohen explain, in Cabo they have refurbished a home that is the only place in the area big enough for a 300-person wedding.

Global Alive Luncheon at Nerai
If I had to name the three most prevalent ethnic cuisines in New York City, I’d go with Italian, French, and then Japanese. After that? Maybe Indian. Or Chinese. It’s subjective -- you can agree or disagree about the order, but I think it’s fair to say that Greek Cuisine is usually not on many New Yorkers radar, especially when looking for a sophisticated place to dine on a night out. After Wednesday afternoon luncheon at the gastronomically inclined Greek restaurant Nerai, however, I’d say it’s about time that changed. Greek food is here, it’s delicious, and it’s beautiful.
Nerai, located on East 54th Street, has to be one of the prettiest restaurants I’ve ever stepped into. The exterior -- light colored and draped with twinkling lights -- is a far cry from the concrete and glass facades that dominate Fifth Avenue. It’s elegant, glamorous… but of course, the restaurant’s real sell is the food.
To start off the luncheon, guests were served an amuse bouche of Tzatziki and Tarama along with a dish of grilled halloumi cheese, served with fresh figs and a fennel salad glazed with balsamic.
Following that was the “Xtapodi Sti Skara,” or Grilled Octopus served over Santorini fava with caramelized onions. It was only about the third time I’ve had octopus, but even I could tell that everything was perfectly cooked and flavored. And as much as I liked the octopus, I loved the next dish: the “Orzotta Thalassino,” a seafood orzotta featuring octopus, shrimp, mussels, and calamari. When I go back to Nerai (which will definitely be soon), this is 100% what I will be ordering.
To finish up what had already been an outstanding meal, the chefs at Nerai whipped up a “Paidakia Sti Skara,” or lamb chops served with honey glazed carrots, dolma, and oregano jus, and then followed it with a decadent dessert: A Tsoureki Bread Pudding filled with almonds, chestnut gelato, and praline cream. And is all of this doesn’t already sound amazing, just know that In addition to the fine food, Nerai had their talented Wine Director, Mr. Michael Coli, choose the wine pairings for each course. I don’t think there was single person by the end of the meal who was not only happily stuffed, but a little sloshed -- in the classiest way possible.
Special thanks to the host, Evageline Plakas, and Grigoria Kamaterou, for sharing their enthusiasm and love of Greece!
