Fiori del Giardino: An Exhibition by Paulette Tavormina

Photographer Paulette Tavormina opened her latest exhibition, Fiori del Giardino, with a party in the heart of the Chelsea Arts District at the Winston Wächter Fine Art gallery. Paulette creates still life photographs in the style of Golden Age Dutch old masters. She’s inspired by techniques such as Adriaen Coorte’s attention to the positioning of objects,  Giovanna Garzoni’s compositions and color palette, and Zurbarán’s attention to lighting. To create her images, Paulette often works against the clock with freshly picked flowers and fruit from her garden--- or as the old masters did, she sometimes substitutes plaster fruit and silk flowers.

Guests gathered to see the striking images and toast the artist. Paulette was joined by her husband, Paul Pfeiffer, and the gallery’s co-owner Christine Wächter-Campbell, director Madeline Cornell, as well as Jeffrey Caik, Fran Degni, Gigi Fava, Wendy Fogel, Sigi Jaeckel, Amy Jaffe, Michele Gerber Klein, Kevin Kelly, Justin King, Jerry Leiner, William Maier, Val Paverd, August Pross, Tori Ratty, Gillian and Jim Reynolds, Jane Sherman, Harriet Walley, and many more.

On December 16th, Paulette will be joined by Sotheby’s Old Master Paintings Specialist David Pollack, Photo Historian Gail Buckland, and Winston Wächter Fine Art Director Madeline Cornell for a conversation about Modern Still Life Photography: A Tribute to the Old Masters. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibition, Fiori del Giardino, will run until January 6, 2024.
