On June 30, a day ahead of its official public debut, Dumpling Xi celebrated the grand opening of its new East Village location at 71 4th Avenue with a lively and flavor-packed evening that brought together press, food lovers, and friends of the brand.

The event marked a major milestone for the internationally celebrated dumpling brand, known across China for its commitment to freshly made, boldly seasoned Northern Chinese dishes. With over 800 locations throughout Asia, this new Manhattan opening is Dumpling Xi’s second U.S. location—and its first in the heart of New York City.

Guests at the grand opening were treated to a first taste of Dumpling Xi’s signature dishes, including crowd-pleasers like the Tossed Lotus Root Shaped Noodles and Beef Mixed with Wood Ear Mushrooms, alongside Red Chili Oil Dumplings and two standout hot pots: Fish Fillet & Vegetable and Beef & Vegetable, both served in a spicy and sour broth that quickly became the evening’s star. The dumplings, true to the brand’s name and legacy, were the main event—served hot and made to order. Notable highlights included Celery & Pork, Zucchini Egg & Shrimp, and Shrimp Chive & Egg Dumplings, all offered in both boiled and fried preparations.

Founded in Hegang, Heilongjiang in 2002, Dumpling Xi has built a cult following based on its philosophy of “freshly rolled, freshly stuffed, freshly made.” Its now-iconic long, straight-line dumplings—shaped like the Chinese character "—"—are a hallmark of the brand’s visual and culinary identity. With over 27 million loyal members in China and the support of 35 central kitchens and 11,000+ employees, Dumpling Xi's U.S. expansion aims to introduce its refined take on homestyle dumplings to a global audience.

The East Village location captures the spirit of the brand while offering a fast-casual experience tailored for New Yorkers. With 70 seats, an open and minimalist dining room, and no takeout or delivery options, the restaurant encourages diners to slow down, sit down, and enjoy dumplings at their freshest—right out of the kitchen. A DIY condiment bar lets each guest craft their perfect flavor profile using house-made chili oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, and fresh garlic.

Alongside the dumplings, the menu offers flavorful braised neck bone pots, spicy-sour broths, cold side dishes like Seaweed Salad and Red Bean Sweet Rice Soup, and desserts such as Black Sesame Soup with Sweet Rice Balls. Beverage offerings include Beibingyang Sparkling Orange Soda, Herbal Tea, Coconut Milk, and more.

This opening continues Dumpling Xi’s global mission: “Passing on for a Century, Spanning the Globe.” And judging by the excitement and full tables on opening night, it’s safe to say that the East Village is ready to embrace the dumpling.

Days & Hours of Operation:

Sunday–Thursday: 11 AM – 10 PM

BarChef Delivers a Multi-Sensory Cocktail Experience

BarChef, the internationally celebrated cocktail institution from Toronto, has officially arrived in New York—and its private preview offered a first taste of what may become the city’s most innovative drinking destination.

BarChef, the internationally celebrated cocktail institution from Toronto, has officially arrived in New York—and its private preview offered a first taste of what may become the city’s most innovative drinking destination. Located at 21 W. 35th Street, the venue is a sleek, modern space that blends immersive design with culinary-level precision, redefining what it means to have a drink in Manhattan.

The evening introduced guests to the visionary world of Frankie Solarik, the creative force behind BarChef and a global pioneer in the modernist cocktail movement. Known for his role as a judge on Netflix’s Drink Masters and author of The Bar Chef: A Modern Approach to Cocktails, Solarik’s approach pushes far beyond traditional mixology. His drinks are sculptural, aromatic, and theatrical—blurring the line between cocktail and cuisine.

One of the most talked-about features previewed was BarChef’s modernist kitchen counter—an intimate, chef’s table-style setup where guests will soon be able to watch their cocktails come to life in front of them. Think: liquid nitrogen, cryo-poached botanicals, encapsulated citrus, and dramatic plumes of aromatic smoke.

The Cocktails

BarChef’s cocktail menu reads more like a fine dining tasting menu, filled with ingredients and techniques that excite the palate and the imagination. Some highlights from the preview included:

  • Spring Thaw: A vibrant, floral composition of Tanqueray No. 10, Champagne, spherified Campari and vanilla, citrus blossom air, and edible flower petals.

  • Golden Honey Penicillin: Beeswax-infused Johnnie Walker Black Label with turmeric and saffron ice, ginger lemongrass syrup, and a roasted corn cannoli filled with white chocolate ganache.

  • Palo Santo: A smoky, meditative creation with cedar-infused Canadian rye, balsam fir bitters, and a palo santo smoked ice sphere.

  • Shinzen Martini: A delicate yet layered riff on a classic, made with Roku Gin, Umeshu, dry vermouth, and a watermelon rose cordial.

BarChef also offers elevated non-alcoholic options, including the Agave Heights (made with Seedlip Grove 41, hibiscus, and floral bitters) and the beautifully layered Forgotten Beauty, a composition of jasmine, cherry, and smoked vanilla.

The Food

Designed to complement its cocktails without overshadowing them, BarChef’s Japanese-inspired menu includes dishes like Mango Sea Bream, Oxtail Potstickers, Wagyu Tartare, and Chilean Sea Bass. For a luxurious finish, guests can indulge in Seared A5 Wagyu or share refined bar snacks like Truffle Waffle Fries and Tallow Shishito Peppers.

The Space

Spanning 3,200 square feet, the venue features a retractable rooftop with stunning views of the Empire State Building, a 14-seat bar, and elegant interiors that strike a balance between intimacy and spectacle. The design mirrors the cocktails—precise, immersive, and visually arresting.

The Vision

BarChef’s arrival in New York marks its first international expansion and a major milestone for the brand that began in 2008 in Downtown Toronto. Co-owned by Frankie Solarik, along with Mino Habib and Mathias Van Leyden (of Loulou Petit Bistro and Adelaide’s Salon), BarChef New York brings a culinary philosophy to cocktails, where every drink is a carefully orchestrated performance.

This isn’t just about going out for a drink. It’s about redefining the very nature of what a cocktail can be—where each glass tells a story, evokes a mood, and delivers a sensory experience that lingers long after the last sip.

BarChef New York officially opens June 18, 2025.

BarChef doesn’t serve cocktails. It composes them—and New York is about to experience what that really means.

The Hamptons summer scene officially ignited with a one-night-only takeover by hip-hop legend Ja Rule at Calissa in Water Mill on Friday, June 13th. The occasion? The exclusive Hamptons launch of his new whiskey line, Amber & Opal—and the crowd came ready to toast.

Calissa’s already-iconic bar transformed into a stage for Ja Rule himself, who stepped into bartender mode to pour up his favorite custom cocktails using Amber & Opal. Guests enjoyed whiskey-based cocktails, wine, and Mediterranean hors d’oeuvres, all while soaking in the signature Calissa ambiance—sun-drenched Mykonos energy mixed with classic Hamptons polish.

Set on Montauk Highway, Calissa has become known not just for its coastal Greek cuisine and award-winning wine list, but for its effortless ability to bring together food, music, and luxury lifestyle in one inviting setting. On this night, the party flowed inside and out, with live music, flowing drinks, and a crowd that brought the weekend energy early.

The star of the night—besides Ja Rule himself—was the Amber & Opal whiskey collection. With smooth, warm flavor profiles and a striking bottle design, it was easy to see why guests were eager to sample more than one of the specialty cocktails. Ja Rule’s passion behind the brand was clear, and his behind-the-bar charisma sealed the vibe.

The launch also served as a sneak peek of what’s to come at Calissa this season. Starting Memorial Day Weekend, guests can rent Calissa-branded MOKEs—stylish electric beach vehicles—complete with the option for a curated Greek picnic basket. It’s a perfect way to elevate your next beach day in true Calissa fashion.

And the entertainment calendar? Stacked. Guests can look forward to:

  • Live DJs every weekend (Fridays, Saturdays, and expanded sets on holiday weekends)

  • Saxophonist-accompanied sets every Saturday

  • World music Sundays on the Terrace, including standout acts like Cristo and Rafael performing Gipsy Kings tributes on June 29 and July 27, and The Mylos Greek Party Band on July 6 and August 24.

  • Special July 4th performance from Chase Creighton and Adam Lipson

Full entertainment listings can be found at calissahamptons.com/entertainment.

Stay tuned for more from @calissahamptons and @amberandopalspirits—this was only the beginning.

Tanqueray Debuts ‘Tanq Holiday’ with a Historic NYSE Closing Bell Moment

To mark the unofficial start of summer and toast to long weekends ahead, Tanqueray Gin, the No. 1 gin in the U.S., partnered with the New York Stock Exchange to introduce a spirited new tradition: Tanq Holiday.

To mark the unofficial start of summer and toast to long weekends ahead, Tanqueray Gin, the No. 1 gin in the U.S., partnered with the New York Stock Exchange to introduce a spirited new tradition: Tanq Holiday. This playfully British-inspired activation took place on Thursday, May 22, 2025, as a way to honor cocktail culture, the trade community, and that blissful shift from work to play.

Making history in the process, Tiffanie Barriere—award-winning mixologist and respected beverage educator—became the first mixologist ever to ring the NYSE Closing Bell. Her presence at the stock exchange wasn’t just symbolic; it was celebratory. At 4:00 PM, Barriere rang the bell, signaling more than just the close of trading—it signaled the beginning of Tanq Holiday and a nationwide invitation to unwind with a martini in hand.

Following the ceremony, the NYSE hosted a private Tanqueray Happy Hour, where Barriere served as Program Beverage Director, curating a bespoke cocktail menu inspired by the prestige and energy of the exchange. Guests sipped on classic Tanqueray Martinis and other gin-forward creations while learning cocktail techniques through an intimate mixology class led by Barriere.

The event also set the stage for Tanqueray’s Martini Month, a June-long celebration spotlighting the legacy of the martini and the bartenders who have helped shape it into one of the most iconic cocktails in history. With Tanqueray’s signature spirit at the center, Martini Month will pay tribute to both the enduring craftsmanship of cocktail-making and the vibrant culture of the trade community.

As the long weekend rolled in, Tanq Holiday gave New Yorkers—and the nation—a reason to raise a glass, shift the mood, and officially welcome the season of martinis.

Cook Like Carmy at the Institute of Culinary Education

With the new season of the Bear just around the corner, I jumped at the chance to learn how to cook similar recipes that they feature on the show in real life. At the Institute of Culinary Education (also known as ICE to those in the know), they’ve been teaching this class since Season 2. Jeremy Allen White took an intensive bootcamp at ICE’s LA campus, so ICE felt it was only fitting to offer a course to other aspiring chefs.

The first part of class was meeting our fearless leader that would be taking us through all of these recipes. That man was Chef Roger Sitrin. Chef is the Lead Recreational Chef at ICE, so we knew we were in good hands. Secondarily, we needed to break up into teams, because to preparing 4 dishes in 4 hours was going to be a feat. I met fellow chefs Dennis and Ken in the lobby while waiting for the class and since they said they knew the instructor, I asked to join tthem. We then adopted Hailey, who takes ICE recreational classes often. I think our group was the best, but I may be biased.

The class included instruction on how to prepare The Beef’s Italian Beef Sandwich, Carmy’s Chicken Piccata, Michael’s Family Meal Spaghetti Pomodoro and Marcus’ Chocolate Cake. We started with preparing dessert since it would take the longest to set. This was the dish that was the most in my wheelhouse. Ingredients were all pre-measured so you could focus on making the dish what it needed to be in the short amount of time we had. All the ingredients were very high quality and we felt grateful to have access to them.

For the savory dishes, I’m glad I had a team because I felt a bit novice for what we had to pull off. The spaghetti was simple enough, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that Chef had to come over and save us a couple times. That being said, the final product of everything we made appeared professional, tasted amazing and that’s what matters! I’m also glad they had a meat slicer for the beef since it made it so similar to what you’d get at the Beef. When we finished preparing all of our dishes, the assistants for the day, Dante, Reyna and Jess, set up stools for us to pull up and taste the fruits of our labor. They even had wine! We were exhausted and I can only imagine what it feels like to work in a working kitchen where they prepare dishes over and over again!

This class is only scratching the surface of what this facility offers. ICE is celebrating its 50th (!) Anniversary this year, but a decade in the current space in 225 Liberty Place. In addition to hosting an actual school, they also offer many classes just like this one for those that cook as a hobby and sessions where you can see notable individuals in the culinary community speak. For more on the anniversary, please visit here and to book a class of your own, please visit here.

ByHeart’s VIP Mini Mart Pop-Up

From May 16–18 in Brooklyn, parenting got a powerful upgrade. At the heart of Greenpoint, ByHeart — the next-generation infant nutrition company — unveiled its latest innovation: the Anywhere Pack

New parenthood is filled with surprises—and not always the fun kind. Whether it’s a forgotten bottle or a meltdown at baggage claim, traveling with a baby isn’t easy. From May 16–18 in Brooklyn, parenting got a powerful upgrade. At the heart of Greenpoint, ByHeart — the next-generation infant nutrition company — unveiled its latest innovation: the Anywhere Pack, the first and only whole-milk infant formula in a single-serve, ready-to-mix format. To celebrate, the company hosted an exclusive Mini Mart—Made ByHeart pop-up, giving parents a first look at this revolutionary product and a much-deserved dose of joy, convenience, and community.

Held at 41 Norman Avenue, the Mini Mart transformed an industrial space into a whimsical, bodega-inspired experience designed specifically for modern parenthood. But this wasn’t your average product launch — it was a love letter to life’s messiest, most beautiful moments on-the-go.

Guests were treated to baby passport photo booths, a stroller concierge, and a chance to win big through scratch-off tickets, with prizes like 100,000 travel miles. A live DJ, mocktails, massages, and custom floral bouquets added to the atmosphere, while families picked up generous freebies from ByHeart and their favorite brand partners.

Now officially launched, the Anywhere Pack retails for $19.99 per box, with 14 single-serve, 4-ounce packets made with ByHeart’s patented protein blend—crafted from certified organic, grass-fed whole milk and designed to be the closest formula to breast milk on the market. No measuring. No scoops. No stress. Just grab, shake, and feed. Parents at the event praised the innovation as “the best thing since sliced bread.”

Co-founders Mia Funt and Ron Belldegrun were on-site to share how the Anywhere Pack came to life and how it reflects ByHeart’s bigger vision of redefining infant nutrition for real-life parenting. In the spirit of supporting families beyond the bottle, they also launched the Mom Miles Fund — an initiative giving away 1 million airline miles to parents of 2025 babies.

Applications are open through May 31, and parents can apply here:

The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) proudly presents the 25th anniversary of MAD About Jewelry, its annual benefit exhibition and sale spotlighting one-of-a-kind, artist-made jewelry. Taking place from May 3 to 7, this landmark edition will feature 50 visionary artists from 23 countries, offering an extraordinary selection of wearable art that redefines the boundaries of contemporary jewelry design.

The week-long celebration kicks off with an exclusive Opening Benefit Brunch on Saturday, May 3, honoring Frank Everett, Vice Chairman for Jewelry at Sotheby’s. A respected voice in the luxury world, Everett’s career spans iconic houses including Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., and Harry Winston. He’s also known for his popular video series Frank’s Files, which has captivated jewelry lovers worldwide. Brunch guests will enjoy a first look at the collection before the formal tribute to Everett takes place at Robert, the museum’s restaurant overlooking Columbus Circle.

Proceeds from the event will support MAD’s mission to champion contemporary makers and advance the fields of art, craft, and design.

This year’s roster of artists showcases bold experimentation, cultural storytelling, and sustainable innovation:

  • Xinyi Chen (UK) transforms electronic waste into “Artificial Intelligems,” merging digital debris with metalsmithing.

  • Valeria Molinari (Italy) creates Murano glass and resin pieces inspired by the board game backgammon.

  • Joana Correia (Portugal) embraces nature’s imperfection using organic materials like orange peel and silk cocoons.

  • Cano Jewelry (Colombia) draws on over a century of tradition, preserving pre-Colombian goldsmithing in modern forms.

  • Yuka Taniai (Japan) sculpts ethereal designs from acrylic and metal to reflect light, time, and atmospheric elements.

  • Inca Starzinsky (UK) paints sculptural brass and stainless steel jewelry that bridges graphic design and wearable color.

  • KINRADEN (Denmark), founded by architect Sarah Emilie Müllertz, crafts sustainable jewelry using recycled gold and FSC-certified blackwood.

  • Monies (Denmark), celebrating 50 years of design, continues to push the boundaries with bold, raw-material-driven statement pieces.

A highlight of the program is the Acquisition Prize, awarded annually to an artist whose work will be added to MAD’s permanent collection—underscoring the museum’s commitment to preserving groundbreaking design for future generations.

“For 25 years, MAD About Jewelry has been a beacon of creativity, ingenuity, and community,” said Tim Rodgers, MAD’s Nanette L. Laitman Director. “This event not only celebrates exceptional artistry but also supports the Museum’s exhibitions and educational initiatives. We’re deeply grateful to the artists, collectors, and supporters who continue to make this momentous event possible.”

Attendees can shop necklaces, earrings, rings, brooches, and bracelets in a range of materials, from precious metals to recycled and natural elements—each piece offering a distinct cultural perspective. More than just a shopping event, MAD About Jewelry is a rare opportunity to meet the makers and engage directly with the stories behind their work.

MAD remains the only American museum with a dedicated gallery for both temporary and permanent exhibitions of contemporary and studio jewelry, reinforcing its legacy as a leader in the presentation and preservation of jewelry as an art form.

Celebrate 25 years of MAD About Jewelry—where artistic excellence meets global community.

NYJL Savor the Spring

Attending the New York Junior League’s “Savor the Spring: A Night at the Museum” on April 26, 2025, was a vibrant evening of wine, food, and community at the historic Astor House.

Attending the New York Junior League’s “Savor the Spring: A Night at the Museum” on April 26, 2025, was a vibrant evening of wine, food, and community at the historic Astor House. The event was a celebration of New York’s museum culture, brought to life through immersive design, curated wine pairings, and culinary experiences inspired by the city’s most iconic institutions.

From the moment guests entered the venue, each room transported them into a different museum-inspired world. Whether it was the tranquil beauty of a gallery space or the historic charm of a cultural exhibit, the atmosphere was thoughtfully curated to stimulate both the senses and the imagination. The NYJL partnered with Manhattan Wine Company to offer a variety of exquisite wines, each thoughtfully matched to its corresponding themed room, creating a tasting journey through art and history.

The food offerings were just as impressive, with dishes crafted by standout local chefs. One of the evening’s highlights was the sushi and Japanese small bites presented by Ichiban Japanese Catering, whose menu brought refined flavors and elegant presentation to the event. Guests raved about the freshness and artistry of each dish, which paired beautifully with the curated wine selections. Alongside the wine, expertly mixed cocktails from local bartending talents elevated the experience further.

Guests who opted for the VIP package received early access to the event and enjoyed a more intimate setting for mingling, including a reserved lounge area and special VIP bites and beverages. The gift bags were also a treat—packed with luxury items from SkinSpirit, Brashley Vineyards, and more.

This year was especially exciting, as the event raised over $136,000—an increase of $11,000 from last year’s total of $125,000. The strong turnout and enthusiastic support underscored the community’s dedication to NYJL’s mission of improving the lives of women and children across New York City. Proceeds from the evening directly fund the organization’s many community programs and initiatives. Guests also had the opportunity to participate in both silent and live auctions, bidding on items like luxury vacations, beauty treatments, and designer goods.

The energy throughout the evening was warm and inspiring. Conversations flowed as effortlessly as the wine, and the room buzzed with a shared appreciation for community engagement and cultural celebration. The NYJL once again demonstrated its unique ability to blend purpose with pleasure, creating a night that was not only fun but deeply meaningful.

Andy Cohen and Melanie Hamrick Host YAGP Gala

Youth America Grand Prix  World’s Largest Ballet Scholarship Competition. 2025 Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow Gala

On April 29, 2025, the Youth America Grand Prix Gala—Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow—took center stage at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, marking the world’s largest ballet scholarship competition.

Hosted by Andy Cohen and Melanie Hamrick, with honoree Sarah Hoover and gala chairs Marcella Guarino Hymowitz and Maria Cristina Anzola, the evening drew a star-studded crowd including Amy Astley, Candace Bushnell, Chelsea Clinton, Zac Posen, Rebecca Hessel Cohen, Lucas Jagger, Colby Mugrabi, and Michelle Ochs.

Guests were treated to breathtaking performances by the Paris Opera Ballet, The Stuttgart Ballet, Ballet Dortmund, the ABT Studio Company, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and more.

“Hello New York City! Hello ballet fans! I was called the Barysnikov of Bravo tonight, I'm going to keep that! I'm changing my Instagram bio immediately”, said Television personality and producer Andy Cohen as he welcomed the Alice Tully Hall Lincoln Center audience to the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow Gala. “How appropriate we are here on International Dance Day!”  His co-host for the evening, former American Ballet Theatre dancer and YAGP alumna Melanie Hamrick, replied “What better way to celebrate than with the amazing dancers you'll see here tonight, and by supporting the world’s largest ballet scholarship foundation! This is a full circle moment for me. As a young student, I was in the first YAGP Gala 26 years ago, and now, here I am on stage again.”

Andy shared “YAGP is a remarkable organization, and it's in its 26th year, led by their amazing founders Larissa and Gennadi Saveliev. This season, YAGP saw 15,000 young dancers from over 80 countries audition, with 2,000 of them competing at the YAGP's Finals in Tampa last week. These are truly the stars of tomorrow, living their dream. Tonight you'll see some of those young dancers, as well as current ballet stars, from the best companies in the world, who excelled and got their start with YAGP.”

A Gala dinner followed the performance, sponsored by Oscar de la Renta and Bucherer Fine Jewellery, chaired by Marcella Guarino Hymowitz and Maria Cristina Anzola (with her granddaughter, both in marabou feather boas), with a committee that included Julia Arnhold, Paul Arnhold and Wes Gordon, Janna Bullock, Chelsea Clinton (who came with her two children), Rebecca Hessel Cohen, Courtney Davis, Aly Gradone, Melanie Hamrick, Lilli Hymowitz, Lindsay Kraus, Kamie Lightburn, Colby Mugrabi, Grace Pomeranc, Lilah Ramzi, Emily Reifel, Priya Shukla, Daniela W. Tisch, Barbara Tober, Virginia Tomenson, Lesley Thompson Vecsler, and Lina Wallach.

Candace Bushnell [BFA Photos]

“Larissa Saveliev, you are a force in the ballet world,” said Marcella. “You bring together all this ballet talent for such a special evening, but beyond that, you give dancers a platform and you create opportunities!” She continued, “Maria Cristina Anzola and I want to take a moment to thank our honoree of this evening, Sarah Hoover. Sarah is devoted to ballet and the arts. She co-founded ABT’s Accelerator Committee and fundraises for multiple dance organizations including Twyla Tharp's Diamond Jubilee tour, and is a patron of New York City Ballet. Sarah is also an author; her debut memoir, The Motherload, was published by Simon and Schuster this past January, and was an immediate bestseller. She is currently in the middle of her international book tour but took time away to be here tonight to celebrate many of her dancer friends and organizations she holds dear to her. Sarah, I am proud to call you a friend.”

“This is an incredible honor by such a meaningful organization to the world of dance”, said Sarah. “I want to explain how deep my love of dance is. As a young girl growing up in Indiana, I did not have a ton of access to culture. But I did have incredible dance training and I went to summer programs at ABT and elsewhere. I remember the impact of watching Glass Pieces, a Jerome Robbins ballet with music by Philip Glass. It was totally different than anything I'd ever seen. It changed the trajectory of my life; where I would live and what I would be dedicated to doing. I see dancers and ballet as showing us a more empathetic and expansive way forward in the world, and for that they are my idols forever.”

The evening also featured a World Premiere choreographed and performed by Isaiah Day (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater), with an original composition and live musical performance by Emmy-nominated pianist and composer, Matthew Whitaker. Day was recognized as one of two YAGP 2025 Emerging Choreographers, along with Chicago-based Hanna Brictson, whose piece Q had its World Premiere at the YAGP 2025 Gala.

The YAGP International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), featuring 25 young dancers selected from global YAGP auditions, presented the U.S. Premiere of an excerpt from PUPO by acclaimed Italian choreographer Sofia Nappi.

A highlight of the program included the winners of the YAGP 2025 international ballet competition, sharing the stage with their ballet idols in a grand performance to bring the season to a close.

About Youth America Grand Prix

Youth America Grand Prix is the largest global network of dance. YAGP fulfills its mission of dance education through scholarship auditions, master classes, alumni services, performances, and education. Over the past 26 years, $5 million has been awarded in scholarships to the world’s leading dance schools, with up to $500,000 now awarded annually. Since YAGP’s founding in 1999, over 300,000 young dancers – ages 9 to 19 – of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds have participated in YAGP's international workshops, audition classes, and dance awareness events. This season, 15,000 talented young dancers from 86 countries on 5 continents auditioned all over the world for a spot in the YAGP Finals. Many of those winners have the one-in-a-lifetime chance to share a stage with their idols, today’s biggest ballet stars, on stage at Lincoln Center. 500 YAGP alumni are now dancing with 100 professional companies around the world, including American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, The Royal Ballet, Mariinsky Ballet and many others. Over 100 of these alumni are soloists and Principal Dancers.

In 2019 during the COVID-19 pandemic, YAGP was the first dance organization to present entirely virtual programming, offering masterclasses and workshops as well as virtual auditions to complete the YAGP season.

In 2022, when the war in Ukraine began, YAGP worked quickly to relocate dance students from Ukraine and place them in YAGP partner schools in Europe and the United States to safely continue their dance training. To date, YAGP’s Ukraine Relief campaign has placed over 200 dancers in safety and on a path to a professional career in dance.

In 2023, YAGP reinstated its Job Fair, now held bi-annually in Europe at The Stuttgart Ballet’s John Cranko School in Germany and in America at Nashville Ballet.

In 2024, YAGP celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a spectacular festival of dance at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. As part of the anniversary celebrations, 353 young dancers gathered at New York City’s iconic Plaza Hotel to set a Guinness World Record for “Most Dancers En Pointe,” and the United States Senate officially recognized Youth America Grand Prix as America’s National Youth Dance Competition.

Dos Tres Brings Authentic Mexican Cuisine Just Below the High Line

Dos Tres is an authentic Mexican concept from Marco Britti, the restaurateur behind Calle Dao and Mareluna and Executive Chef Henry Zamora from The Bazaar and French Laundry. The expansive 2,700 square foot space hosts happy hour, brunch and soon to offer lunch.

Photo courtesy of Create & Align

As someone who has lived in the city for a very long time, I can attest that good dining options west of 8th Avenue are hard to come by. That’s why I was so excited to hear about Dos Tres opening on the corner of 10th avenue and, you guessed it, 23rd Street.

The authentic Mexican concept from Marco Britti, the restaurateur behind Calle Dao and Mareluna, has tapped Executive Chef Henry Zamora from The Bazaar and French Laundry, to lead the charge for this expansive 2,700 square foot space.

We checked out the space for happy hour, which is currently being offered everyday from 12pm-7pm, including brunch (lunch service will begin in April)! Since we were in a Mexican restaurant, we had to try the margarita and for $10, you can get a flavored on. I opted for the mango variety and was happy with my choice. A regular margarita, beer, wine or well drinks will all run you $9.

We then moved onto sharable plates and tried a very solid guacamole ($12), chicken and cheese flautas ($12) and crispy wings ($12), which you wouldn’t necessarily associate with this type of concept, but with the flavorful seasoning, fit perfectly into the mix. The dishes were colorfully displayed, so not only were we satiated but it also made for great photos!

We’ve proven Dos Tres is perfect for happy hour, but are excited to go back and try more of the menu from this A-list team. When it’s not happy hour, menu highlights include signature tacos like Birria and Carnitas, and standout entrées like Enchiladas Verdes and Mexican Paella. Signature cocktails are also available, curated by Joy & Libation & Co, and tequila enthusiasts have the option to try flights of the restaurant’s offerings.

Dos Tres is a great space for gathering with friends, family and we’ve even seen dating events happen here! We’re excited to see what they have up their sleeve for Cinco de Mayo, even though we’re well aware that is an Americanized celebration! For more information on Dos Tres, please visit https://www.instagram.com/Dostresnyc.

Ja Rule toasted the New York launch of his Amber & Opal Whiskey at an exclusive tasting event at Amali on Wednesday night. The celebration, sponsored by NYC’s premier dispensary Charlie Fox, introduced guests to his Maryland-crafted honey botanical whiskey in a sophisticated and intimate setting.

Attendees indulged in a curated cocktail menu featuring the New York Mule, Smoked Old Fashioned, Amber Rush, and Nightcap, each showcasing the rich complexity of Amber & Opal. Alongside Ja Rule, his business partners Herb Rice and Sandy Sandiford were in attendance, along with an intimate group of friends and industry insiders.

Adding to the evening’s ambiance, Charlie Fox’s cannabis sommeliers were on hand to educate guests on smoking etiquette, enhancing the luxury experience—though no cannabis sales or licensed activity took place at the event. Meanwhile, Amali’s delectable passed hors d’oeuvres, including crispy rice balls and fried chicken, ensured everyone stayed satisfied as the celebration continued.

Setting the vibe for the night was Amali and Charlie Fox owner James Mallios, who doubled as the evening’s DJ, keeping guests dancing until the lights came up.

Amber & Opal: A Whiskey Like No Other

Now available for purchase nationwide via ReserveBar and Seelbachs, as well as at select Total Wine locations, Amber & Opal is a carefully crafted spirit that merges Maryland Straight Rye Whiskey—aged two years in medium-charred oak barrels—with a unique blend of orange blossom honey, smoky black tea, and warm spices like cinnamon, ginger, and fig. The result is a remarkably smooth whiskey, perfect for sipping neat or crafting elevated cocktails.

"We created Amber & Opal to be more than just a whiskey—it’s a celebration of community, inclusivity, and the golden moments we share with loved ones," said Ja Rule. "Expanding to key markets is a testament to the incredible reception we’ve had, and I’m thrilled to see how this journey continues to connect people."

The Night’s Sponsor: Charlie Fox

The event’s sponsor, Charlie Fox, has quickly become a leading name in New York’s luxury cannabis scene. The brand recently unveiled its first flagship retail space at 719 7th Avenue in Times Square, an impressive 10,000-square-foot, multi-level store—the largest cannabis retail space on the East Coast.

Rooted in hospitality, Charlie Fox offers an unparalleled experience, featuring premium New York-grown cannabis, seasonal apparel, and exclusive lifestyle accessories. Guests looking for a personalized shopping experience can book an appointment with a Charlie Fox sommelier by visiting Charlie Fox Reservations.
