Brunch Gets a Mediterranean Glow-Up at Leonetta, Murray Hill’s Buzziest New Spot

Murray Hill’s dining scene has no shortage of buzzworthy openings, but Leonetta stands out with a brunch menu that captures the warmth, freshness, and soul of the Mediterranean coastline. Designed with seasonal ingredients, traditional techniques, and a modern sensibility, Leonetta’s dishes feel both elevated and comforting—exactly what weekend brunch should be.

Murray Hill’s dining scene has no shortage of buzzworthy openings, but Leonetta stands out with a brunch menu that captures the warmth, freshness, and soul of the Mediterranean coastline. With a culinary program led by Chef Ed Cotton and beverage program from Mark Rancourt, you’re in for a real treat. Designed with seasonal ingredients, traditional techniques, and a modern sensibility, Leonetta’s dishes feel both elevated and comforting—exactly what weekend brunch should be.

The restaurant’s new brunch lineup spans spreads, chilled bites, salads, sandwiches, and weekend-ready specialties like Steak & Eggs Kebab, Babka French Toast, and Eggs Benedict with a Mediterranean twist. We tried the $50 brunch special, which includes two spritzes, black garlic hummus for the table, and two mains. We started with our spritzes and opted for the St. Tropez Spritz, a sunshine-in-a-glass blend of chambray meyer lemon vodka, sevez honey, lavender liqueur, limoncello, and bubbles. The result was a floral, citrusy and refreshing Mediterranean garden party in a glass. The Fancy French Accent was a more luxurious, aromatic spritz combining Jean Luc Pasquet Marie-Framboise, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao Yuzu Late Harvest, Cap Corse Blue, and bubbles. This one is layered and complex, with bright fruit notes and a sophisticated finish. Both cocktails elevated the meal beautifully.

Because of allergies, our server recommended starting with the Baba Ghanoush and fresh pita, and it did not disappoint. It might’ve been our favorite dish we had! For entrées, we ordered the Smoked Salmon & Avocado Toast, built on Pugliese bread and topped with feta, cucumber, radish, and pickled red onion. Fresh, balanced, and hearty without being heavy. Our secondary main was the Wild Mushroom Scramble. Farm eggs cooked soft and creamy with wild mushrooms, black truffle, and sesame crostino—earthy, aromatic, and deeply satisfying.

Beyond brunch, Leonetta also hosts lunch and dinner and offers private dining rooms and cozy event spaces to make it an ideal venue for everything from intimate gatherings to full restaurant buyouts. Downstairs, Leo’s Famous offers an additional space with its own personality. For the holiday season, the restaurant is also presenting a three-course Thanksgiving menu for $115 from 2pm–9pm.

Leonetta has quickly become one of Murray Hill’s standout brunch destinations—not just for its food, but for the entire experience. With bold flavors, thoughtful dishes, excellent cocktails, and an ambiance that transports you straight to the Mediterranean, it’s a must-visit for your next weekend outing and we can’t wait to go back to try more!

A Slice of Paris on Smith Street: Atelier Ariana Charms Carroll Gardens

Atelier Ariana , founded by Chef Ariana Barkin, a pastry chef with over 15 years of experience in French pâtisserie from Detroit to Paris, is a Parisian-style café and pâtisserie, which recently celebrated its first anniversary.

Nestled on a sunny corner in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, Atelier Ariana is the kind of café that immediately draws you in. Founded by Chef Ariana Barkin, a pastry chef with over 15 years of experience in French pâtisserie from Detroit to Paris, the bakery is the realization of her career-long dream—a place where she can share her craft with the community that inspired it. After years working in acclaimed kitchens such as Hôtel Grand Amour and Palais Royal in Paris, Ariana returned to New York to open this Parisian-style café and pâtisserie, which recently celebrated its first anniversary. The space, intimate and light-filled with mosaic tile floors and marble tables, channels the effortless charm of a Parisian corner café, now perfectly at home in Brooklyn.

During our visit, we sampled some of Atelier Ariana’s current seasonal highlights—starting with the Pumpkin Spice Latte and a beautifully balanced cappuccino, both made with locally roasted Parlor Coffee. Each sip was warm, fragrant, and comforting—perfect companions to the pastry lineup that followed. Ariana’s Fig & Vanilla Goutte, the October viennoiserie special, was a standout: her signature croissant dough layered with housemade fig jam, vanilla pastry cream, and topped with fresh fig, all shaped into an elegant teardrop. The new Croque Croissant, a savory twist on the classic croque monsieur, was equally irresistible—flaky, buttery layers filled with melted cheese was our favorite bite of the day and the dish to go back for. We finished with a slice of her tender Plum Cake, delicately sweet and spiced, embodying the café’s dedication to using the freshest seasonal ingredients.

For those looking to experience a true taste of Paris without crossing the Atlantic, Atelier Ariana offers an experience that’s as thoughtful as it is delicious. The café is open Wednesday through Sunday, perfect for grabbing breakfast and coffee on the way to the subway or for trying a seasonal treat on a leisure weekend. Chef Ariana also leads monthly baking classes which is a treat itself. Don’t miss her seasonal pies for Thanksgiving—Pumpkin Pie with butterscotch and Apple Crumble Pie are both available for pre-order.

Andrea Bocelli Honored at Denyce Graves Foundation Harvest Moon Gala

Under a glittering Manhattan skyline, the Denyce Graves Foundation’s Harvest Moon Gala gathered icons from the worlds of music, art, and philanthropy for an evening steeped in elegance and emotion.

New York, NY (October 6) — World renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli said “Denyce Graves is a great friend of mine. I could say many things, but since my English isn’t so good, I thought I would do something better and sing for you,” before performing selections from Puccini’s La Bohème. Bocelli was honored alongside Chandrika Tandon, Dr. Louise Toppin, and Francesca Zambello at the Denyce Graves Foundation Harvest Moon Gala on October 6, the day before Graves’ 30th anniversary of her Met Opera premiere.

Cocktails, dinner, and intermittent performances highlighted the breadth and impact of the Foundation’s work, as musical visionaries, friends, and other distinguished guests came in support of DGF's mission. “This foundation was created through the hands and hearts of so many people in this room.” said DGF founder and mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves. “Friends like Barbara Tober, whose generosity has given our young artists a place to grow, and Ann Gottlieb, who has been in the trenches with us from day one. Tonight’s gala is not just a celebration of music, but of the extraordinary people who make it possible.”

The honorees were recognized for their contributions to music and mentorship. Said Zambello “Art is for everyone. And now, more than ever, we need art and ideas. We need difficult conversations and courageous acts, the future of our democracy depends on this.” Introducing honoree Dr. Louise Toppin, award winning composer Terence Blanchard said “The importance of the work Dr. Toppin and Denyce are doing is to give vehicles for these beautiful voices that have been giving us amazing performances. They are expanding that space—allowing singers to show the full breadth of who they are as musicians and as people.” Said Grammy award winning Tandon, “It’s not just about the music. It’s about the gift of giving, teaching, and supporting the next generation. To Denyce, who champions this space, helping the next generation of musicians flourish—what a gift to the world.” Added Deepak Chopra, “Music is our source of healing, not only as individuals, but as a society.”

ABC News’ Deborah Roberts served as emcee for the evening, and honorary chairs Barbara Tober and Suzi Cordish were joined by Gala Chair and Board Member Ann Gottlieb in welcoming guests, which included Adrienne Arsht, Martina Arroyo, Mikhail and Lisa Baryshnikov, Henry Buhl, Deepak Chopra, Matthew Epstein, Simon Estes, Susan Gutfreund, Ryan Speedo Green, B Michael, Sherrill Milnes, Laura and Cal Ripken Jr., Al Roker, Anthony Scaramucci, Neil Shicoff, and George Shirley.

The gala concluded with a live auction designed to support the Foundation’s programs and initiatives. Among the exclusive offerings was a private trip to Italy with the Bocellis, which drew enthusiastic bidding alongside other unique experiences and packages. The auction raised significant funds for the Denyce Graves Foundation. The evening also featured a display of sculptures by award winning artist, Machine Dazzle.

Cocktails, Constitution, and Community at King Manor

On September 17th, Constitution Day, we celebrated America’s founding spirit at the Constitution and Cocktails fundraiser, hosted at the historic King Manor Museum in Jamaica’s largest greenspace.

Gerald Caliendo, Susan Shiroma, Peter Klarnet, Christine Davis, Scott Davis

In Jamaica, Queens, the King Manor Museum held its annual Constitution and Cocktails fundraiser, bringing together community leaders, history enthusiasts, and supporters for a lively evening of celebration on Constitution Day, September 17. Hosted at the historic home of Founding Father Rufus King, the evening seamlessly combined hospitality, history, and civic spirit.

Guests enjoyed an open bar of handcrafted cocktails, curated hors d’oeuvres, and live music while exploring the landmark estate that preserves the legacy of Rufus King—an early U.S. Senator, signer of the Constitution, and outspoken opponent of slavery. On display in the parlor room was a rare treasure: an original copy of the U.S. Constitution with annotations by Rufus King himself. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz reflected after viewing the document: “We are the United States of America, we do welcome changes, differences of opinion, and we welcome debate.” King Manor’s Executive Director, Kelsey Brow, echoed the theme of civic learning, adding, “We lead with a spirit of learning from the world around us and challenging perceived notions. At King Manor, we make our visitors feel like empowered learners, interested in thinking about why things are the way they are and what they can do to make things better.”

Christie’s Senior Specialist Peter Klarnet, who helped arrange the loan of the Constitution, emphasized the importance of sharing such artifacts with the public: “We here at Christie’s are very glad and pleased to share documents like this with everybody. We’re not just here to sell expensive things to wealthy people… What keeps all of us coming back to work are opportunities like this, where we can share these special objects with everybody. I think they do belong to everyone.”

Regina Bain

DA Melinda Katz

Kelsey Brow, Whitney Barat, Walter Sanchez

This year’s fundraiser also recognized two outstanding community leaders for their civic contributions: Regina Bain, Executive Director of the Louis Armstrong House Museum, celebrated for her inspiring leadership in arts and cultural preservation, and Whitney Barrat, President of the Downtown Jamaica Partnership BID, honored for her commitment to equity and urban sustainability. The evening culminated in a surprise announcement from King Manor board member Amir Sobhraj, who presented a proclamation from the NYC Mayor’s office declaring September 17, 2025, as King Manor Museum Day.

The night’s distinguished guests included King Manor Board Members Daphne Jay Bell, Gerald Caliendo, Peter Florey, Olivier Labossiere, Tunisia Morrison, Peter Philips, Walter Sanchez, Susan Shiroma, Zenith Taylor, Anna-Marie Vallone, and Leslie Wickham; New York State Assemblywoman Alicia Hyndman; Historic House Trust Executive Director Giulietta Fiore; Loycent Gordon, owner of Neir’s Tavern; Old Stone House Director Kim Maier; and Michelle Stoddart, Senior Vice President of Resorts World.

Funds raised from Constitution and Cocktails ensure the continuation of King Manor’s interactive programs and exhibitions, which connect past and present to foster civic engagement and critical thinking. Josh McBride's Annual Bday 2025

Taking center stage and setting the tone ahead of famed New York Fashion Week, TV personality Josh McBride celebrated his annual birthday bash with a star-studded extravaganza that quickly became the weekend’s must-attend event.

Taking center stage and setting the tone ahead of famed New York Fashion Week, TV personality Josh McBride celebrated his annual birthday bash with a star-studded extravaganza that quickly became the weekend’s must-attend event.

On Friday, September 5, 2025, McBride transformed NYC’s HK Hall into a dazzling playground of fashion, music, and celebrity energy. Guests dressed in sleek black and bold pink, the night’s official theme, creating a vibrant sea of style as more than 400 attendees packed the venue. Signature cocktails from Ja Rule’s Amber & Opal and The Baker Company’s Espresso Martinis flowed throughout the night, while Baked by Melissa added a sweet touch with their signature treats.

As the lights dimmed and the stage came alive, powered by DJ Nyce, the evening’s tradition of surprise performances began with Nina Sky, whose electrifying 8:15 p.m. set sent the crowd into full party mode. The energy only built from there when international chart-topper Kevin Lyttle took the stage at 9:15 p.m., delivering his global smash “Turn Me On” alongside other fan favorites that had the crowd singing word for word. By the time R&B superstar Bobby V closed the night with a soulful 10:15 p.m. performance, the venue was buzzing with energy—proving once again that McBride knows how to throw a party that leaves a mark.

The red carpet and dance floor alike were filled with familiar faces from television, music, and pop culture. Peppermint of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Lateshia Pearson of Belle Collective, RIP Micheals of Wild ’N Out, psychic medium Matt Fraser of Meet the Frasers, actor Alex Garfin of Superman and Lois, and Love Is Blind’s Clay Gravesande were among the many personalities spotted celebrating alongside McBride.

Over the years, McBride’s birthday has grown into one of New York’s most buzzed-about annual events. Last year’s celebration at Nebula drew surprise sets from Yung Joc, Lil Mama, Ryan Toby, and Yung Wylin. Past editions have welcomed stars like Ja Rule, Mya, Tiffany Pollard, Teresa Giudice, and Dorinda Medley. With this year’s blowout at HK Hall, McBride raised the bar once again, solidifying his legacy as a host whose parties rival the very best of New York nightlife.

Big Deal Speakeasy Casino's 10th Anniversary Party

The Big Deal Speakeasy Casino (1 E 28th St) marked its 10th anniversary with a glamorous celebration that transported guests straight back to the roaring 1920s.

The Big Deal Speakeasy Casino (1 E 28th St) marked its 10th anniversary with a glamorous celebration that transported guests straight back to the roaring 1920s. Hidden behind an inconspicuous freight elevator door in NoMad, the venue opened into an opulent speakeasy adorned with velvet seating, casino tables, and the smooth sounds of live jazz setting the tone for the night.

The evening wasn’t just about the ambiance—it was a celebration of the games that have kept New Yorkers coming back for over a decade. Guests crowded around blackjack and craps tables, guided by professional dealers who offered insider tips and tricks. Chips were cashed in, bold bets were made, and cheers erupted at every win, creating an atmosphere that was equal parts exhilarating and sophisticated.

Adding to the immersive experience were craft cocktails courtesy of Broken Shed Vodka and Rosaluna Mezcal. Glasses clinked and conversations flowed as the speakeasy’s signature mix of mystery and elegance carried through every detail of the evening.

At the heart of the celebration was founder Wendy Rubin—a serial entrepreneur, filmmaker, and creator whose vision has redefined interactive entertainment in New York City. In 2015, Rubin opened Big Deal Speakeasy Casino following the success of her pioneering Big Deal Casino Academy, the state’s first and only licensed dealer school. By day, the space serves as a training ground for future casino dealers, preparing them for careers in the industry. By night, it transforms into a glittering Prohibition-style event venue, making it the perfect setting for private parties, milestone celebrations, and unforgettable nights of entertainment.

Ten years on, the Big Deal Speakeasy Casino remains an unmatched destination for high-energy fun. The anniversary party not only honored a decade of unforgettable nights but also reinforced the venue’s place as a one-of-a-kind gem in New York’s nightlife scene.

Celebrating Sergio Hudson’s NYFW Runway Show

The stars brought their A+ fashion game to Spring Studios in SoHo on Friday night, where they gathered to celebrate the debut of designer Sergio Hudson’s latest collection at New York Fashion Week.

The stars brought their A+ fashion game to Spring Studios in SoHo on Friday night, where they gathered to celebrate the debut of designer Sergio Hudson’s latest collection at New York Fashion Week.

Just five years after his first NYFW, Hudson has made a name for himself as an emerging designer who knows how to power-dress powerful women. He designed the rich plum-colored suit Michelle Obama wore to great acclaim at the 2021 presidential inauguration, among other celebrities like Beyonce, Keke Palmer, Rachel Brosnahan, and, most recently, Olandria Carthen at the U.S. Open.

In fact, the Love Island star may have become Hudson’s latest muse. She made her runway debut at Hudson’s Spring/Summer 2026 show earlier on Friday, to the delight of her many online fans. Just an hour later at the afterparty, Hudson said he was inspired to work with Olandria because of his kids.

“She'd been wearing a lot of my clothes and getting a lot of splash, and I'm like, who is this girl? And my kids are like, ‘Oh, my God, Olandria!’,” he said. “My kids don't get excited about anybody. Michelle Obama, Beyonce, nobody. But they got excited for her.”

The intimate celebration was sponsored by Woodford Reserve, a maker of small-batch Kentucky bourbon whiskey. This isn’t the first time they’ve partnered with Hudson, and this time they provided craft whiskey cocktails like the Tropical and Tailored, made with bourbon, plum liquor, coconut water, and pineapple juice.

After his quick ascent to fashion stardom, Hudson is looking forward to many more celebrations to come. The past five years have felt more “like 50 years,” he said. “It gets easier and it gets harder. But I’m happy. I’m living my dream and I have to remind myself of that every time.”

Historic Glamour, Modern Soul: Inside The Paris Cafe’s Dazzling Revival

After a meticulous restoration, The Paris Café has officially reopened down the street from South Street Seaport, and it’s a must visit.

The Paris Cafe Exterior

After a meticulous restoration, The Paris Café has officially reopened down the street from South Street Seaport, and it’s a must visit. First established in 1873 and once frequented by icons like Teddy Roosevelt and Thomas Edison, this legendary landmark has been lovingly reimagined by Legeard Studio and OPUS Hospitality as a brasserie-meets-jazz-lounge that pulses with both heritage and modern touches. The reopening marks a bold return for one of the city’s oldest restaurants—now a portal to Parisian charm, live music, and a beautifully executed French menu.

Tucked along the cobblestones of South Street, The Paris Café immediately transports you from NYC. The historic façade remains intact, but step inside and you’re swept into a cinematic swirl of Belle Époque elegance.

Interior Bar

The interiors are a feast for the eyes: hand-plastered walls, custom mosaic floors, and a gleaming pewter-topped bar that anchors the room like a vintage postcard come to life. Velvet banquettes surround a jazz stage at the center, promising late-night allure as sultry as the lighting itself. It's easy to forget you're steps from the Seaport and not tucked into a golden-hour bistro on the Left Bank.

Our meal began with the bread service, and what a beginning it was, served warm with butter from Normandy that deserved a spotlight of its own. We also indulged in the Panier de Gougères: delicate, cheesy puffs that dissolved into pure decadence. For starters, we shared the Foie Gras Terrine with housemade brioche—slightly sweet, almost like cornbread—rich, silky, and indulgent. The Endive Salade was a study in balance: crisp, creamy, and punctuated with candied walnuts and Roquefort. But the true standout was the St. Jacques à la Paris Café—perfectly roasted diver scallops served in stunning shell presentations, topped with caper butter and crispy shallot breadcrumbs. Each bite was a buttery, texture-rich triumph.

First Course

To sip, we chose two standout cocktails that matched the evening’s mood. The Soleil Spritz, made with prosecco, watermelon, Cap Corse, and lavender cordial, was a vibrant and refreshing ode to summer. The St. Germain des Prés, a mix of gin, strawberry, elderflower liqueur, and cucumber tonic, felt like a floral breeze in a glass. For mains, the Loup de Mer en Papillote impressed with its delicate texture and the layered flavors of tomato, fennel, lemon, and a whisper of Pernod, the French anise liquor that added just enough intrigue.

But the dish we’ll be dreaming about for weeks? The Steak Frites au Poivre, cooked to a perfect medium-rare and bathed in a peppercorn sauce so divine we considered asking for it by the bottle.

We ended on a sweet note with the Clafoutis Nectarine, a warm, custardy delight made all the more elegant by the Cognac Crème Anglaise poured tableside. Though tempted by the towering La Révolution, a showstopping selection of boutique pastries meant for two to four, we decided to save that indulgence for a fall visit (bathing suit season, after all!).

Steak Frites au Poivre

As the sun dips and the chandeliers begin to glow, Paris Café After Dark comes alive. Starting this September, weekend nights will feature live jazz, turning this downtown gem into a sultry, sonic sanctuary. Whether you’re in search of an intimate dinner, a spontaneous nightcap, or a new go-to brunch spot (hello, Bastille Day brunch and DJ sets), The Paris Café is ready to charm.

We already can’t wait to return. For reservations, menus, and upcoming entertainment schedules, visit pariscafenyc.com.

  • Sunday Riley, Sol de Janeiro, GrandeLASH, Truvani, New Chapter, Vacation Inc., Cann, Athena Club, Lola Blankets, Flaus, No7, New Beauty Editor’s Box, and more

  • VIPs were ensured white-glove delivery service courtesy of Roadway Moving, which transported the gift bags straight from lawn to luxury SUV

More Than Just a Glamorous Gathering

Beyond the brand activations, celeb sightings, and champagne toasts, the heart of the event remained rooted in its mission: to support cancer research in memory of Bobby Zarin. Jill’s personal story has always been at the center of the luncheon, and each year she continues to grow the event’s legacy—turning personal loss into a platform for generosity and change.

In a summer filled with high-profile events, the Luxury Luncheon by Ticket2Events stood out not just for its VIP guest list or Instagrammable backdrops—but for its fusion of purpose, polish, and personality. Whether sipping cocktails in the Premier Lounge or walking away with a bag filled with this season’s most coveted products, guests left feeling celebrated—and inspired.

If this year’s edition was any indication, Jill Zarin’s Luxury Luncheon remains the definitive standard for how to do summer in the Hamptons: stylishly, generously, and with heart.

Strong Cocktails, Live Jazz, and Brunch by the Sea at Breva

On a perfect summer Sunday, we made our way to Breva Brighton Beach—a modern brasserie tucked just off the boardwalk—for what turned out to be one of the city’s most memorable brunch experiences.

On a perfect summer Sunday, we made our way to Breva Brighton Beach—a modern brasserie tucked just off the boardwalk—for what turned out to be one of the city’s most memorable brunch experiences. With live jazz floating through the air, a salty ocean breeze in the background, and vodka spritzes on deck, Breva delivered coastal elegance with a local soul.

This wasn’t just any brunch—it was part of Breva’s Sunday Jazz Brunch series, running now through Labor Day. From the moment we stepped onto their 110-seat patio, the vibe was set: jazz musicians grooving by the sea, cocktails flowing, and an inviting menu of fresh, seasonal fare.

We kicked things off with a trio of standout starters: smoky Charred Eggplant, crisp and golden Crispy Calamari, and pillowy Potato Dumplings that delivered on comfort and depth. From there, the Blanco Pizza—rich with cheese and a crisp crust—made for the perfect shareable dish. The Wild Mushroom Tagliatelle was earthy and luscious, while the Black Angus Skirt Steak & Eggs brought satisfying brunch heft with chimichurri and crispy potatoes.

To sip, we tried the Mai Tai, The Jungle Bird, and the Hibiscus Margarita—all beautifully crafted and strong, yet balanced. The bar program at Breva isn’t playing around. We ended on a refreshing note with a scoop of Berries Sorbet, the perfect palate cleanser for a hot afternoon.

With the backing of Apicii Hospitality and a kitchen led by Chef Travis McGinty, Breva isn’t just another beachfront restaurant—it’s a destination in itself. Whether you're here for jazz, brunch, or just the ocean views, Breva offers an elevated, distinctly New York take on beachside dining.

Reservations available via OpenTable or visit brevabrightonbeach.com for details. For events and updates, follow @brevabrightonbeach on Instagram.

How Please Tell Me Perfects the Art of Casual Cool in East Williamsburg

Tucked into an unassuming restaurant front in East Williamsburg, Please Tell Me is the kind of spot you wander into on a lazy afternoon and never want to leave. Tucked into an unassuming restaurant front in East Williamsburg, Please Tell Me is the kind of spot you wander into on a lazy afternoon and never want to leave. Inspired by Japanese listening rooms and Brazilian flavors, this intimate bar and restaurant offers a soulful blend of sound, food, and community. Founded by neighbors and DJs Austin Woolridge and Eric Griego, the space has quickly become a local favorite since opening in Fall 2023, thanks to its natural wines, curated DJ sets powered by a top-tier HiFi system, and bold Brazilian bites from Chef David Sedycias through its culinary partnership with Mané co-created by Chef David and Alex Lee. A Mediterranean-minimalist interior sets the vibe, while Beverage Director Kiara De Leon brings tropical flair and Dominican spirit to a cocktail menu that’s as playful as it is polished.

We kicked things off with the mané mai thai, a signature cocktail made with Ten to One white and dark rum, dry curaçao, macadamia orgeat, lime, and a coconut whip cream finish. Equal parts sweet, strong, and unexpected, it was the perfect drink to match the bar’s vibe. To eat, we tried the queijo coalho grilled cheese skewer with honey, oregano, and chili oil, no bread needed or missed. Then came the batatas fritas, a genius mix of Yukon and sweet potato fries tossed with hot dog ends and served with malagueta pepper ketchup and aioli. Think street food with a gourmet twist. But the dish that stole the show? The grilled kale, charred to perfection and served with Brazilian honey and a luscious brazil nut/cashew cream foam. It was comforting and refined, almost like a creamed kale reimagined.

Enjoying sun at Please Tell Me’s wine window

No trip to Please Tell Me is complete without stopping by the wine window, which has become a defining feature of the space, and the first of its kind in New York. Inspired by the buchette del vino of Florence, Italy, this charming window opens up in warmer months for guests to order glasses of wine on the go. The selection spans far beyond the usual suspects, with natural wines from Mexico, Japan, and Slovenia via Zev Rovine Selections. There’s something undeniably delightful about receiving your drink through a tiny window, then sipping it on the sidewalk like it’s a secret neighborhood ritual, one that connects strangers with a shared love of sunshine and bubbly.

DJ booth at Please Tell Me

We had an absolute blast at Please Tell Me, from the playful bites and bold cocktails to the unbeatable energy that fills every corner of the space. It’s the kind of place that lingers with you long after you leave, and honestly, we’re already making up excuses to go back (do we need a reason?). Whether you’re there for brunch, beats, or just a glass of wine from the window, it’s a guaranteed good time.

Honoring Art, Legacy, and a Vision for the Future

The evening honored longtime LongHouse champions Mary Jane and Charles Brock, along with visionary artist Vija Celmins. “We may be the honorees tonight, but we’re here to celebrate LongHouse,” said Mary Jane Brock. “Mother Nature and Jack Lenor Larsen gave us this masterpiece—let’s ensure it continues to flourish.”

Celmins was praised by Guggenheim Director Emeritus Richard Armstrong, who called her “relentless in her pursuit of accuracy,” describing her ocean renderings as “portraits of infinity.”

In a major announcement, LongHouse Director Carrie Rebora Barratt shared that Jack Lenor Larsen’s iconic home—a modernist structure inspired by a Shinto shrine—will soon be open to the public. A preview film by Gael Towey introduced the vision, with commentary from Pulitzer Prize-winning architecture critic Paul Goldberger.

“We gather at LongHouse not just for an event, but to reflect on what we value: creativity, connection, and care for the world around us,” Barratt said. “Your presence sustains a living laboratory of design, art, and nature.”

Star-Studded Guest List and Unforgettable Art Auction

Guests included notable names from the art and design world: Robert Wilson, Toni Ross, Eric Fischl, Cindy Sherman, Kenny Scharf, and Andy Warhol among many others, with a standout art auction curated by Benefit Art Chairs Pamela Willoughby and Dianne Benson. Also spotted: board members and supporters such as Peter Bickford and Greg McCarthy, Michele and Marty Cohen, Michele Oka Doner, and Suzanne Slesin—all of whom gathered under the stars to toast to the future of LongHouse.

A Celebration Fueled by Community (and Great Food)

The evening was made possible thanks to support from a dream roster of sponsors: Bloomberg Philanthropies, Loro Piana, Northern Trust, Wölffer Estate Vineyard, Curamia Tequila, Altima Caviar, Carissa’s Bakery, Hamptons Aristocrat, Veronica Beard, and many more. Dim Sum Palace Lands in LIC

Dim Sum Palace has officially landed in Long Island City—and its debut couldn’t feel more at home. Located at 2428 Jackson Avenue, in the historic former Brooks 1890 building, this newest outpost of the beloved Cantonese restaurant group blends neighborhood legacy with modern Cantonese flavors in a space that feels both rooted and refreshed.

Walking in, you're greeted by a beautifully restored interior—stained glass windows, mahogany bar, and tin-stamped ceilings preserved from the Gilded Age. But while the space nods to its historic past, the menu delivers a bright, flavorful snapshot of what Cantonese dining in NYC should be.

Our meal was a standout from start to finish. We began with chilled cucumbers—lightly smashed, garlicky, and refreshing—followed by braised turnip, tender and deeply savory. The spicy wontons arrived swimming in chili oil and vinegar, the wrappers delicate and the filling juicy with a pleasant heat that lingered.

Next came the star of the night: duck dumplings, rich and perfectly seared, served piping hot and filled with deeply flavorful shredded duck. The crab fried rice was another hit—light and fragrant, with sweet crab meat tucked into each bite and just the right amount of wok hei. For mains, the eggplant was meltingly soft and dressed in a savory brown sauce, while the fish fillet—served in a sizzling clay pot—was flaky and tender, soaking up every drop of the aromatic sauce it was nestled in.

The experience is fully dine-in—no takeout or delivery—which makes every bite feel more intentional. Each dish is cooked to order, staying true to Dim Sum Palace’s founding philosophy: freshly rolled, freshly stuffed, freshly made. The service was warm and attentive, offering thoughtful recommendations and encouraging us to try the restaurant’s signature condiment bar, where we mixed our own chili oil and garlic-soy blends.

With seating for about 70 guests, the space strikes the right balance between casual comfort and occasion-worthy charm. Whether you’re in for a weeknight meal or looking to impress visiting friends, this location delivers quality, consistency, and a bit of East-meets-West Village charm right in the heart of Queens.
