Takesushi made a triumphant return at this year’s event, sharing its new location with Bon Cafe et Restaurant, much to the delight of the Sunnyside community. After previously announcing their closure, the news of their comeback created a buzz among long-time fans. At their booth, Takesushi offered their signature individually hand-rolled tuna, meticulously prepared by owner Robin Kawada himself. Watching Kawada craft each sushi roll by hand, with the same precision and care he’s known for, was a testament to his dedication to authentic Japanese cuisine. The tuna was fresh, tender, and perfectly balanced with sushi rice, leaving attendees thrilled to have Takesushi back in the neighborhood.
The significance of their return wasn’t lost on anyone. Sunnyside has long cherished Takesushi, and seeing them back, sharing space with Bon Cafe et Restaurant, brought an added sense of celebration to the event. Savoring Sichuan: A Night at SHAN NYC

Even days after our meal at SHAN NYC, located on bustling Smith Street in the heart of Cobble Hill, we’re still thinking about the incredible food. It was one of those rare dining experiences where every dish leaves a lasting impression, and the flavors linger long after the night is over. The perfect combination of bold Sichuan spices, masterful preparation, and a lively yet cozy atmosphere made for an unforgettable evening.
We began the night with two expertly crafted cocktails that perfectly set the stage for the meal. The Osmanthus Blossom was a delicate, floral concoction, its light sweetness providing a refreshing start, while the Umeshu Paloma offered a tangy, citrus-forward twist, balanced with the rich depth of plum. These drinks were the ideal palate prelude, preparing us for the feast ahead.
The appetizers immediately signaled that we were in for something special. The Pork Soup Dumplings were a revelation—thin-skinned parcels filled with succulent pork and a rich, savory broth that exploded with flavor at every bite. Paired with the Scallion Pancakes, which were crisp on the outside and chewy within, packed with the bright, fresh taste of scallions, it was a perfect combination of textures and flavors. The Pork Dumplings in Chili Oil rounded out our starters, each dumpling tender and bathed in a fiery chili oil that delivered the classic Sichuan heat without overwhelming the senses.
For our entrées, we indulged in a selection that showcased the best of SHAN NYC’s kitchen. The Chungking Spicy Chicken was the star of the night. Crispy, perfectly fried chicken pieces were tossed in a generous amount of dried chili peppers and numbing Sichuan peppercorns, delivering a slow-building heat that was both addictive and exhilarating. The texture and spice were in perfect harmony, making it a dish we couldn’t stop eating.
The Spicy Cumin Lamb was another standout. Tender and juicy, infused with the deep, earthy aroma of cumin and enhanced by subtle notes of spice, the lamb offered a rich and savory experience that lingered on the palate. The dish’s complex flavors were a testament to the careful balance of spice and seasoning that defines great Sichuan cooking.
We also couldn’t resist ordering the Mapo Tofu, a dish that SHAN NYC executes to perfection. The tofu, silky and delicate, was submerged in a spicy, fragrant sauce that delivered just the right amount of numbing heat from Sichuan peppercorns, balanced with garlic and chili for a hearty and deeply satisfying dish.
One of the surprise contenders for the best dish of the night was the Eggplant in Garlic Sauce. Velvety and flavorful, the eggplant was perfectly cooked, absorbing the sweet-savory garlic sauce that clung to each slice. The depth of flavor in this dish was remarkable, making it stand out as more than just a supporting player among the other entrées.
But if there was one dish that truly stole the show, it was the Stewed Fish Fillet with Chili Sauce. Delicate, flaky, and incredibly flavorful, this dish has quickly become my favorite of all time. The fish absorbed the spicy, aromatic broth perfectly, delivering a bold yet balanced taste of Sichuan cuisine’s signature spice. It’s a dish that will stay with me for a long time, and one I’ll definitely return for.
Every dish at SHAN NYC was crafted with care, showcasing the bold, intricate flavors of Sichuan cuisine without sacrificing balance or subtlety. It was a meal that stayed with us—each bite a new discovery of texture, spice, and flavor. The quality of the food and the skillful execution of classic Sichuan techniques made for an extraordinary dining experience that we won’t soon forget.

We recently had the chance to visit the Squid Game Experience in New York City, and I have to say, it was absolutely thrilling! If you’ve watched the show, you know how intense and gripping the games are, but nothing compares to actually stepping into the world and becoming part of the action.
The experience starts as soon as you walk in. The set design is spot-on—everything from the eerie playground to the ominous “guards” in their red jumpsuits makes you feel like you’re actually on the set of Squid Game. The attention to detail is incredible, and it really pulls you into the game’s atmosphere.
One of the highlights for me was participating in the iconic challenges from the show. From “Red Light, Green Light” to the nerve-wracking glass bridge, the adrenaline rush was real! Each game requires not only physical agility but also quick thinking and strategy. It’s a fantastic mix of excitement, tension, and pure fun. You get fully immersed as if your life depends on it (even though it doesn’t—thankfully!). The staff did an amazing job of creating a sense of urgency without it ever feeling dangerous. They strike the perfect balance between game immersion and safety.
There’s also a competitive element. You’re not just playing for fun—you’re playing to win. The energy in the room is electric, with everyone vying for victory, trying to outsmart the competition. It’s a great opportunity to team up with friends or make alliances with strangers, adding a layer of social interaction to the experience.
Beyond the games, one of the most unique aspects of the experience is the Night Market. After the intense gameplay, the market is the perfect way to decompress and take in the vibrant, immersive atmosphere. The stalls are filled with Squid Game-themed merchandise, giving you the chance to grab some unique collectibles or memorabilia to remember your adventure. There are also interactive photo ops, where you can snap some fun pictures with life-sized replicas of key sets from the show, like the iconic giant doll from "Red Light, Green Light" or even with the masked guards.
The market also gives you the opportunity to socialize with other players, share stories of your victories or narrow escapes, and reflect on the experience. It’s a fun, lively area that complements the high-stakes games and adds an extra layer of immersion to the overall event.
If you’re in NYC and looking for a unique, adrenaline-pumping adventure, I can’t recommend the Squid Game Experience enough. It’s not just for fans of the show—it’s for anyone who loves a good challenge and wants to experience something truly different. Whether you’re going with friends or solo, it’s an unforgettable time. Remarks were given by Jean Shafiroff, as well as FHS Events Chair CeCe Black, and FHS Executive Director, Jennifer Herlein. Guests were further delighted to see New York State Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright present Jean and Martin Shafiroff and French Heritage Society with certificates of recognition from New York State for their contributions and service to preserving French architectural and cultural legacy both in the United States and France.

French Heritage Society will host its annual Gala Dinner Dance at a private club in New York City on November 15th. This year, the Celestial Ball will celebrate the historic reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral and recognize the role Americans – both philanthropists and artisans – played in its restoration. The festive event will have two very special Honored Guests: Odile de Schiétère-Longchampt, interior designer and steadfast champion of FHS and artisans who specialize in French decorative arts, and Hank Silver, the American carpenter who spent a year-and-a-half rebuilding the wooden roof framing of the cathedral’s nave. This highly anticipated, black-tie affair will have music and dancing provided by the Bob Hardwick Sound.

Open to all lovers of France, French Heritage Society aims to ensure that the treasures of French architectural and cultural heritage survive to delight, educate and inspire future generations. Over the past 42 years, FHS has awarded approximately 685 restoration and cultural grants to properties throughout France and in the United States and selected and supported more than 580 university students who have crossed the Atlantic for internships at esteemed institutions. FHS has 11 chapters, 10 in the U.S. and one in Paris, and membership includes access to all.

Living in New York City has its perks, but sometimes, you just need a break from the bustling streets, crowded subways, and never-ending energy. So, I decided to escape the concrete jungle for a relaxing weekend at the Jersey Shore. My destination? The charming and eclectic town of Asbury Park, New Jersey. Just an hour and a half drive from Manhattan, Asbury Park is the perfect spot for a quick retreat—and it certainly did not disappoint.
A Stay at the Luxurious Asbury Ocean Club
First stop: checking into the Asbury Ocean Club, a stunning oceanfront hotel that feels like a dream. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the soothing sounds of the ocean and a chic, laid-back vibe that set the tone for the weekend. The rooms are sleek and modern, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering sweeping views of the Atlantic. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring, with a gorgeous pool, a calming spa, and the kind of service that makes you feel like royalty. The place is frequented by celebrities, so you might be lucky to catch them.
Paranormal Vibes at the Paranormal Museum
My first adventure was a visit to the Paranormal Museum, which is one of those quirky, can’t-miss spots Asbury Park is known for. Located inside Paranormal Books & Curiosities, this small museum is packed with exhibits on paranormal legends, hauntings, and all things spooky. I learned about the Caludron Lady, ghost sightings, and even browsed some creepy relics that gave me chills. Our tour guide CJ was an expert and kept us on our toes the entire time. If you're a fan of the strange and unexplained, this museum is a must-visit. I even caught myself thinking about some of the exhibits long after leaving, wondering if I truly believed in the paranormal by the end of it. Whether or not you're a believer, this place is a fun and eerie way to kick off the weekend.
Nostalgic Fun at Silverball Retro Arcade
After getting a taste of the supernatural, I was ready for something a little more lighthearted. Enter the Silverball Retro Arcade, an absolute paradise for anyone who loves classic pinball machines and vintage arcade games. From Pac-Man to Skeeball, I spent hours getting lost in nostalgia, competing with friends, and feeling like a kid again. The arcade even has an impressive collection of vintage pinball machines that date back decades. It was the perfect way to bring some old-school fun to the day!
Cocktails & Star Sightings at Salvation Rooftop
As the sun began to set, it was time to head to the Salvation Rooftop, a chic bar located at The Asbury Hotel. With sweeping views of the town and the ocean, this rooftop is the perfect spot for cocktails while watching the sunset. I sipped on a beautifully crafted cocktail and soaked in the laid-back atmosphere. To top it off, I had an exciting celebrity encounter—I got to meet Dolores Catania from The Real Housewives of New Jersey! She was gracious and approachable, chatting with guests and even snapping a few photos.
Delicious Eats: Asbury Diner & Talula’s
No weekend getaway is complete without great food, and Asbury Park certainly delivers. For breakfast, I stopped by the Asbury Diner, a cozy and classic spot known for its hearty meals and retro atmosphere. I indulged in a delicious stack of pancakes with all the fixings, the perfect fuel for a day of exploring.
Later, I had dinner at Talula’s, a trendy restaurant known for its wood-fired pizzas and creative dishes made with local ingredients. I tried their famous sourdough pizza, and it was everything I had hoped for—crispy, chewy, and packed with flavor. The vibe at Talula’s is relaxed and welcoming, making it the perfect place for a casual yet delicious meal.
Exploring Local Treasures: Farmers Market & Antique Emporium
In between meals and activities, I made sure to check out some of Asbury Park’s local gems. The Asbury Farmers Market was a delightful stop, offering a variety of fresh produce, handmade goods, and local specialties. It was a great way to connect with the community and pick up some unique souvenirs.
I also stumbled upon a shop called the Antique Emporium, and let me tell you, it’s a treasure hunter’s dream! This quirky store is filled with antiques, vintage finds, and all sorts of eclectic items. Whether you’re into retro furniture, old records, or rare collectibles, this place has it all. I could have spent hours browsing through the endless shelves of hidden gems. I eneded up purchasing a vintage Japenese painting from the 50s and it’s already hung on my wall.
After a weekend filled with fun activities, great food, and even a celebrity encounter, I left Asbury Park feeling refreshed and recharged. The town has such a unique mix of old-school charm, artsy culture, and beach town relaxation. It’s the perfect escape for anyone looking to unwind, explore, and make some unforgettable memories.
If you’re looking for a quick getaway from New York City, I highly recommend giving Asbury Park a try. With its vibrant energy, cool spots to explore, and laid-back beach vibes, it might just become your new favorite weekend destination!
Fushimi is a Japanese Oasis in Times Square
Those were the first words muttered as we entered Fushimi. Fushimi is reminiscent of iconic restaurants that have graced the New York City like LAVO, Buddakan, Hakkasan and STK.

You walk in knowing that you’re about to have an epic experience beyond just the amazing food you order. At Fushimi you’re immediately transported to Japan with the subdued lighting, Bonzi trees, traditional red torii gates and larger-than-life Koi fish art installation.
Fushimi Inari Shrine is a historical Japanese treasure and place of worship belonging to the Shinto religion. Known for the thousands of orange and black gates that you now see posted all across Instagram, it’s a stunning scene. Founded in 2003, Fushimi Japanese Group has been an atelier for contemporary Japanese-fusion transformation, serving masterfully crafted Japanese dishes with innovative French tastes and techniques in a modern-meets-traditional style. Fushimi was first established in Staten Island and currently has five locations spread throughout Staten Island, Bay Ridge, Williamsburg, and our newest location, Manhattan. Fushimi delivers Japanese-fusion dishes with high quality ingredients and state-of-the-art methods. You can expect hand-picked, fresh ingredients from local farms that are shipped in weekly for chef’s to expertly prepare. The exceptional menu, premium service, and its trendy ambiance and nightlife makes it an experience that both local New Yorkers and visitors can appreciate.
During our dining experience we were sat between two tables, two sisters visiting NYC for the first time from the South and a couple that lives in Hell’s Kitchen. Both had the same sentiment about Fushimi – a restaurant worth experiencing. Stand-out menu times include both their sushi and meat dishes and appetizers such as edamame, rock shrimp tempura, homemade gyoza and a raw bar. The sushi bar goes beyond just your basic rolls with over a two dozen to choose from. There is also a Chef’s selection that includes both Sushi and Sashimi. The meat and seafood selection are vast with Grilled Filet Mignon, Chilean Sea Bass and 30 Day Dry Aged Tomahawk. If you are looking for a show there are options to get special items cooked for you tableside and even gold encrusted meat. Cocktails and dessert are also a must with your basic mixed beverages as well as signature drinks with Japanese profiles.
With such a robust menu the staff were exceptionally helpful with what to choose and how many dishes to order. We found that sharing our plates were the way to go and next time I’ll certainly bring a large groups so we can try even more. We left happy, full and wanting more. We’ll for sure be back.

“Today, like every day at LongHouse, honors and extends Jack Larson's enduring inspiration to live with art in all forms”, said Alexandra Munroe. “So thank you Carrie, President Nina Gillman, LongHouse Trustees, Benefit Chair Anne Erni, emcee Machine Dazzle, and all of you for bringing such life, beauty, and honor to our beloved LongHouse. I've been asked to speak about Yoko Ono because IMAGINE is the theme of this evening's gala. I first learned about Yoko Ono from my sister Victoria. She’d come back and forth from her ongoing schooling in New England, always bringing a new song from this group called, The Beatles. The words ‘Yoko Ono’ were the first words I learned in the Japanese language, which as some of you know, has become my life's work. It was sort of the origin of so much in my work, but also it was the origin story of what became the history of the avant-garde in America, Japan, and around the world. John Lennon once remarked that Yoko was ‘the most famous unknown artist in the world’. Now, I often tell Yoko, as she reaches higher and higher recognition in this century, we have come a long way, baby! Yoko's brilliance eluded the art establishment for a long time. One reason for that was her radical fluency in making art in so many different media. She broke a lot of rules, something she shared with Jack. Yoko’s generosity and optimism to make beauty and life is of course is why Jack and Yoko became friends. Yoko gave LongHouse a gift of the fantastic Play It By Trust giant chess set. She made all the pieces and squares white. What does that mean? What kind of chess player can remember that many spaces and plays? Ultimately, the opposition dissolves. Ultimately, the real victory is unity. That too is very much like Jack. LongHouse also has Yoko's Wish Tree. A work that invites people, in Japanese Shinto Shrine tradition, to write a wish and wrap it around a branch. Yoko and Jack continue to remind us of the highest power of art; to shape our world, to make peace, to overcome opposition through beauty.”

Philanthropist Estrellita Brodsky presented the award to Tony Bechara. “Tony is an accomplished painter, who over the past nearly five decades, has devoted himself to the seemingly random but meticulously programmed language of color exploration. His paintings are reflections of an incredibly intellectual understanding of the traditions of weaving, of phenomenological theories across art histories, and ultimately succeed in challenging our very understanding of visual perception destabilized through a prescient pixelated field…He has been a dear friend, mentor, and advisor, guiding my many decisions, always telling me to say yes, with my best interest at heart. And with the great desire to pursue our common goal, to advocate and to further the arts from Latin America and its diaspora.”
Tony, accepting his award, shared “I have always loved LongHouse because it's a perfect blend of nature and art. We all should support a place like this. It's a treasure, not only for East Hampton, but for New York. It's a treasure. The word magical has been used several times tonight, and I repeat it. It's a magical place.”
“Kenny Scharf is a seriously accomplished artist and a fine human. His work is accessible to pretty much any human living. His projects are generous and inclusive, from his Brooklyn day-glo parties, to phantasmagorical parade vehicles, to KARBOMBZ, that are never for profit. He loves art and humanity, and has always had both feet in the regular world, even with dazzling art world success”, said artist Randy Polumbo. Kenny, in brevity, shared “I just love what I do. Thank you for this honor!” Kenny’s totem sculpture, TOTEMIKON, is currently on display at LongHouse.

The benefit was a dreamy garden party reimagined for this century. As guests walked in, performers dressed as flourishing plants and butterflies danced around them, with live music by Certain Moves. Aphrodise sparkling rosé was handed out from white-gloved hands through a lush garden wall. Dinner was the most radical reimagining of all; seven buffets, a raw bar, dinner under the stars (instead of a tent), and a quick program with speedy remarks. The table’s floral arrangements and bouquets for the honorees were hand-clipped by the LongHouse Board of Trustees, from the estate of Alexandra Munroe, on the morning of the benefit. LongHouse’s 16-acre garden was adorned with Paola Lenti luxury Italian furniture - armchairs, sofas, poufs, tables, and parasol umbrellas. The curated contemporary arrangements feature natural woods, rich textures, organic color palettes, as well as weather-resistant fabrics and eco-friendly fibers, which are visually striking, durable, and sustainable. The spaces offered a special respite from the summer sun as it set, and a place to kick back and relax from all the after party dancing. The after party, led by Junior Chair Emma Wrazej, featured dessert tables, and DJ Kristaval kept everyone dancing until the legally mandated curfew of East Hampton. The Junior Committee included Mary Kantor, Vivienne Lange, Owen McGowan, Maude Peter, Paulina Pitt, Will Pitt, Morgan Wilkins, Dakota Wrazej, and Sara Zurmuehle. The evening raised over $800,000, benefiting LongHouse’s educational programs and grounds upkeep.

About Tony Bechara
Tony Bechara is an artist living and working in New York, who has produced a large and significant body of abstract work based on principles of color usage, organization and randomness. His paintings tackle phenomenological questions that explore historical problems associated with representation, the visual, and ultimately visibility itself. Bechara’s work is represented in numerous private and public collections. He has had solo exhibitions in New York, Washington, Miami, San Juan, Lima, Mexico and Munich. Bechara has participated in group exhibitions at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, the Whitney Biennial, Boulder Fine Arts, P.S.1, Artists Space, El Museo del Barrio and the Museum of Latin American Art in California, amongst others.
About Kenny Scharf
Kenny Scharf is an American painter known for his participation in New York City's interdisciplinary East Village art scene during the 1980s, alongside Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. Scharf's do-it-yourself practice spanned painting, sculpture, fashion, video, performance art, and street art. Growing up in post-World War II Southern California, Scharf was fascinated by television and the futuristic promise of modern design. His works often include pop culture icons, such as the Flintstones and the Jetsons, or caricatures of middle-class Americans in an apocalyptic science fiction setting.

The revelers sipped on cocktails crafted with Tequila Mi Campo and Juliette Liqueur and there could not be a celebration without the sparkling touch of Whoopi Prosecco, a bubbly creation by none other than Whoopi Goldberg herself. Sweet indulgence was served up by Baked By Melissa, adding a touch of sugary delight to an already opulent evening.
But the true highlight of the night came from a series of unforgettable surprise performances that left guests spellbound. Rising Afrobeat sensation Yung Wylin took the stage first, electrifying the crowd with his hit single “Good Energy,” both the original and its afrohouse remix, along with his new summer 2024 anthem “Island Gyal.” The energy soared as Ryan Toby, known for his role in Sister Act 2, wowed the audience with renditions of “Oh Happy Day” and “Joyful, Joyful,” followed by his iconic track “What Would You Do” from City High and a thrilling medley of his greatest hits he has written.

The surprises kept coming as TV personality Tiffany “New York” Pollard took the stage to shower Josh with affection and introduce the next performer: Lil Mama. She brought the house down with her infectious hits “Girlfriend,” “Sausage,” and “Lip Gloss.” During her set, guests received lip gloss from her line 'It's Poppin,' with one reveler exclaiming, “Wow, the lip gloss really is poppin’!”

As an always on the go New Yorker with multiple side hustles and access to doordash, nutrition is sometimes the least of my concerns. Enter Wishbone Farms, an organic, farm-to-table meal delivery service based out of the Lower East Side. Created by a brother & sister team in Southampton, NY, Wishbone delivers healthy and interesting meals right to your doorstep, saving you the energy of meal planning, prepping, and grocery shopping. It’s perfect for someone like me, who cares about being healthy, but doesn’t want to sacrifice taste or time. Sound familiar? To see if the concept is really worth it, though, we tried Wishbone out for a week to see if it’s something we could commit to.
Part I: The Menu
The food options for Wishbone range between Italian, American, and Mediterranean, with an occasional Asian or Latino-inspired option. This was my order for the week:

I tried to order something from each of the cuisines they provide while also covering every meal, including dessert! On another note, I love that there are some unique flavor combos going on--that’s definitely a must when you’re feeding New Yorkers, who have access to practically every food in the world.

Part II: The Review:
First off, I loved the packaging! The tote bags they come in are super cute and reusable so +1 so being environmentally conscious. The portion sizes are also HUGE--1 order is supposed to feed 2-3, so as a single person, but honestly I think they could be stretched to five, especially if you have kids. As a single person, it took me almost 2 weeks to work through everything (another plus, in my book).
Now onto the tasting!
Eggplant & Mushroom Meatballs:
These had really great flavor and they’re an easy way to get extra veggies in! The only reason they’re not a 10 is because I didn’t find myself craving it throughout the week like I did with some of the other items. 9/10
Chicken and Cheese Quesadilla: Good! I personally prefer a more tangy quesadilla but I can see kids especially loving this. 7/10
Honey Roasted Rainbow Carrots: These were amazing! My only issue is that I wasn’t quite sure what the best way to reheat them was so I popped them into the airfryer at 350 for 10 minutes and just hoped for the best. Some of them came out AMAZING that way but some other ones were a bit chewier. So minus 1 point for consistency but still a really good side. 9/10
Miso Tahini Cauliflower:
Pretty much the same as the above--some pieces were SO good but then other pieces were a bit harder to chew on and I’m not sure if that was a reheating issue on my end. But still delish! 9/10
Sesame Noodles with Chicken:
I honestly did not have high expectations for this but was blown away! Not sure how authentic it is but I had to stop myself from eating both servings in one go and would definitely order again. 10/10
Grilled Chicken Parmesan:
Very solid! 7/10
Egg Salad:
Also very solid! 7/10
Chicken Fingers with Honey Mustard:
I know it’s almost impossible to go wrong with chicken fingers, but these were exceptionally good! Super thick and juicy and the honey mustard was truly the best I’ve ever had, I would easily buy a bottle of this if they sold it. 10/10
S'mores Bars: As a huge sweet tooth, this is what I was most excited for and they did NOT disappoint. I need a constant supply of these to be happy from now on I think, truly a must eat before you die. 10/10

Roughly two hours outside New York City, hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers, as well as Ravers from around the world, gather in Long Pond Pa at the Pocono Racetrack each year in order to attend Elements Music Festival, an immersive and interactive festival filled with much more than just amazing DJ sets and great vibes.

It is not about how you start but rather how you finish. This was certainly exemplified this past weekend where Elements Music Festival celebrated its seventh year anniversary by battling and eventually overcoming the gruesome Hurricane Debbie.
Roughly two hours outside New York City, hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers, as well as Ravers from around the world, gather in Long Pond Pa at the Pocono Racetrack each year in order to attend Elements Music Festival, an immersive and interactive festival filled with much more than just amazing DJ sets and great vibes.
The Festival was co-founded by a trio of fellow new yorkers who began by throwing parties in various unique venues around the city including churches, restaurants, and even an abandoned grain Silo. What began, years ago, with a few hundred attendees quickly grew to a few thousand and ultimately led to the modern expansion of a multi day camping festival.
With the rough weather the festival was forced to close on day one (Friday) but that did not stop those that had already been let into the grounds for Early Arrival (Thursday) from having fun as we saw numerous posts on social media outlets including TikTok, Instagram, and more expressing the creative ways people were combatting the storm. These partygoers certainly made the most of an unfortunate situation which showcases the incredible atmosphere and “PLUR” displayed by the attendees. Elements certainly elevates itself above other festivals in this regard as it has a reputation for being one of the best festivals for crowd vibes and this year was no exception.
Staying true to its name, elements promote the four natural elements of Earth, Fire, Air, and Water, which are the respective names of their main stages. one stage in particular that stood out to festival goers was the water stage which they named the Funktopous as a giant grooving octopus was designed that sprouted lasers throughout the various amazing acts that graced the stage such as heavy hitters like Subtronics (sunset set) , Sara Landry, Rome in Silver, and more. Surrounded in this funk is what is known as a “rainbow sea” where many additional acts were seen including Clowns, Dancers, and even in a casino as festival favorite Frick Frack blackjack was in attendance as well.

As you continued to make your way through the festival you would encounter various art installations, unique shops, and picture perfect sculptures, recovery dens, and hidden adventures such as the secret garden brunch which was one of many side quests guests were able to embark on.
You may be caught by the neon lights and bright colors glowing from the woods as you would be lured into a forest of wonder where the air stage was located. Here ravers were able to be one with nature as they could dance and allow their minds and spirits to recharge. A unique placement of a stage allowed guests to witness magic from the rooftops as there were various treehouses placed around the stage to allow your inner child to roam free and vibe to the groovy beats exuding the forest from artists such as Slander, Disco Lines,Bob Moses, and more.

Overall, the festival was not perfect and we were unsure how it would play out after the rocky start, but, in true New York fashion, Elements finished strong and certainly delivered a high energy and memorable festival filled with immaculate vibes and lifelong memories.
If you are looking for a fun escape from the city and want to have a great time in the process while making wonderful friends along the way, then Elements Music Festival just might be the choice for you. As the festival only continues to expand and grow, we are very excited for the new additions and surprises that are to come in 2025 and years to come.

One of the best spots to capture that vibe is Cobble Fish on Pier 16, an outdoor restaurant on the waterfront where you can lounge in the sun and watch the boats cruise by.

To celebrate the summer season, Cobble Fish threw a party on Wednesday with delicious seafood, free-flowing drinks, and good tunes played by DJ LX Fed. In between bites of perfectly fried shrimp and baja fish tacos, guests cooled down with a frozen margarita or an original summery cocktail like the Pier Painkiller (Malibu rum, coconut, and pineapple) or the Fish Lips (Maker’s Mark, elderflower, lemon).

But almost everyone had to grab a lobster roll, which featured fresh, tender lobster and a super buttery bun. Another highlight of the evening was the Big Dog, a foot-long hotdog wrapped in bacon and topped with mango salsa, mustard, and pico de gallo. Any hot dog lovers should come by Cobble Fish for their July 4th party, where they’ll be serving the Big Dog with a complimentary beer.

Experience LONE WOLF: An Immersive Theater Experience at Brooklyn Art Haus from 6/6-6/16
Brooklyn Art Haus (24 Marcy Ave) and SMPL MCHN present the NYC premiere of LONE WOLF, an immersive theater piece supported by a stellar ensemble cast that explores the collective response to lone wolf incidents that have radically changed our cultural fabric. The story unfolds through movement and music in a minimalist, ultramodern environment, which takes the audience on a journey through cultural tipping points in modern society. The exploration of capitalism, violence, cultural shifts and race will command the audience to see themselves within a world in which our collective impulses occasionally shift when blindsided by a flashpoint. Created by Isaac Bush (USA) and Anne Simon (Luxembourg), LONE WOLF focuses on how society responds to and frequently hijacks these cultural shifts to better themselves. This 75-minute tour-de-force production will be presented during eight performances over two weekends with evening and matinee shows. Following its NYC premiere at Brooklyn Art Haus, LONE WOLF will make its European premiere at the Grand Theater of Luxembourg and then tour Europe through the end of 2024. 3. Seven Sins will Host Horror-Themed & True Crime Movie Viewing Parties beginning on 6/9
Beginning on Sunday, June 9th, Seven Sins (293 Third Avenue), will kick off a very unique summer series. Paying homage to the wine windows of Florence, Please Tell Me (749 Metropolitan Ave) has thrown open its window to let the fresh air in and the vibes and vino out. The Williamsburg vinyl bar is the spot for music lovers to revel in HiFi sounds, natural wines, strong cocktails and super-satisfying bar bites. Williamsburg vinyl bar Please Tell Me (749 Metropolitan Ave) is back with another edition of their Supper Club Series featuring an evening dedicated to Latin American cuisine and culture on June 25th at 7pm. The curated evening is full of Latin flavor, consisting of a cocktail hour, seated, 5 course Prefix Dinner with natural wine pairings from Latin American regions, a live mariachi band, and a Reggaeton dance party. DJs will be spinning Afro-Cuban Funk while Chef Jacob Kiely Song takes you on a five-course journey through Latin American cuisine, starting with Fluke Ceviche and Braised Pork Cuban Wontons. Entrees are Argentinian Style Steak with Herb Chimmichuri, Cilantro-Infused Rice, Habichueles Refritos, and a fresh Enselada. Central Park Boathouse is Ready for Summer and Special Events!
Since the Central Park Boathouse reopened last year, the entire space has been renovated; starting with the more casual offering on the one side of the restaurant, to the main dining room, event space, and dock area. The new upgrades will help usher the space in to welcome in the next generation of diners, thanks to the help of Legends Hospitality.

The new upgrades will help usher the space in to welcome in the next generation of diners, thanks to the help of Legends Hospitality. The changes are current, while still paying homage to the history of the location. The current culinary Team and menu offerings are also reflective of the timelessness of this landmark venue. Over the past month I’ve had the pleasure to enjoy not only a brunch at the Central Park Boathouse, but also experience their revamped event space.
For any meal you have in the main dining room, it always comes with the complimentary relish tray, which is a nice touch and something to snack on while you make the difficult decision of what to order since you can’t possibly eat everything on the menu in one sitting. For starters, we opted for the hidden fjord salmon crudo, which was super bright thanks to the Meyer lemon and the other end of the spectrum, the stuffed mushrooms, which was a hearty combination of Ritz crackers and gruyere cheese.
For mains, on a Sunday brunch following the Kentucky Derby, you can’t go wrong with the house blend burger. Our server asked if I was hungry and he was not kidding. The burger is filling, cooked perfectly with fries and slaw, a perfect pickle spear and all the sauce. Another solid option is the jumbo lump crab cake benedict. Yokes were oozy, hollandaise what what it creamy, no complaints. Well, maybe only complaint was that we were too full to order dessert. You’ll see in the revamped space that the bar has great seating options all with vantage points of a water view and that the way the venue is split makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into someone’s lakehouse, super inviting and approachable while still feeling like an elevated experience. And if it’s too fancy, the cafe is still an option. There is really something for everyone.
For the unveiling of the revamped event space, Executive Chef Adam Fiscus explained that he chose the menu to be classic like the Boathouse and incorporating seasonal ingredients, which is what the restaurant is known for integrating into their dishes. This included freshly made focaccia, a buffalo mozzarella salad with heirloom tomatoes, ricotta ravioli made on site with seasonal asparagus and ended with a trio of popular desserts, a lemon meringue tart, chocolate pot de creme and canele. The experience felt like a greatest hits of what the Central Park Boathouse could do for an event, with custom cocktails, a string duo in the corner for entertainment and of course the lake as the backdrop.
